Dundalk FC Pitch 3-0 Cork City HT
Considering the results so far, this is the real Good Friday.
Shams controlling the game in Tallaght by all accounts, but Limerick still one nil up. Don't know what's happened to Cork, they hadn't conceded away from home before tonight.
Dundalk FM gem - 'Great to hear a performance like this before your very eyes'.
4-0 Towell
4-0 ridiculous
Yes! It is 4 nil here for everyone wondering! Thonking for cork. Should be more.
2079 attendance in Oriel
Wouldnt be suprised if this ended 6-0 by the sounds of it. At least its only pats away next weekend ha
Bray have a last man back sent off. Athlone miss subsequent penalty. Last few minutes. They can't buy a win can they?
Penalty for Rovers and Barry Ryan saves.
Meanwhile, Barry Ryan saves a penalty in Tallaght. Palpitations here.
4-0 in Dundalk, FT. Cork's game in hand against Limerick just got a whole lot more interesting. Limerick still holding on.
I wouldn't either when Rovers are losing in Tallaght and six minutes are added on.
1-1, rebound off the penalty. Disgusted.
Six minutes injury time, during which the keeper gets two yellows, leaving an outfield player to face the peno.
Reading ET it sounds like both yellows were justified though. Time-wasting and a fairly blatant shove.
Hate rebounded goals from penalties. Poxiest way to score in football.
Sounds like mad stuff in Tallaght. Just what makes football great.
Not much incident in Belfield. O'Neill with a cracker for Drogheda, after which they were happy to sit back and counter. Like against Cork last week, we didn't know how to break them down. Got a bit lucky with our equaliser; maybe a rebound off a Drogheda player to play Benson in. Drogheda claimed offside; may have had a case. Thought we maybe shaded the game but neither side was great.
Three points between fifth and eleventh!
ET held up through to the end tonight at least.
Also - did Bazza dive to his right to save the penalty? Just for old times sake!
No, he went left. Awful penalty from McCabe, did a little dance on the way up. O'Connor's was even worse. Is that 3/3 penalties missed in the league tonight?
Disgusted by that. Rovers were woeful throughout. Boccer and Robinson did nothing and Brennan isn't suited to play at the head of the triangle, so we never looked like breaking Limerick down. Rogers is an absolute joker. Didn't spot what looked like a pretty clear handball on the line on half time, then somehow decided that rather than allow Rovers' rebound goal to stand (the only thing I can think is there was an offside after the handball) he'd stop it and give the penalty. Then, instead of sending the player off for clearly saving a goalbound shot, he gave him a yellow and decided to send Limerick's assistant manager off. Ryan deserved to go. He should have been sent off when he got his first yellow for screaming at the ref but Rogers is too much of a wimp to stand up to players.
Have to say we actually dropped off when 4-0 up and took off a few players very early, possibly for the Setanta cup final. I really don't think Cork were that bad, we just blitzed them 3-0 in the first 35 mins, no going back then. Some performance by us all the same. Ruthless stuff.
Cork were steamrolled - they simply had no answer to a powerful first half performance, and were second best everywhere on the pitch. The match was over at half time.
I fecking knew someone would bring up the pitch.
start as you mean to go on and never give a sucker an easy break.
this is what the lads did in the first 20. We were relentless at the start. Don't know if the delayed KO had an effect on cork but doesn't matter. Excellent preparation for next weeks All Ireland Final and the ruthlessness of our display particularly in the first half was a joy to behold for everyone in OP.
The Bray defeat must of given the lads a kick up the ass they needed and also the week break between games must of help recharge the batteries too.
Rovers were dreadful. Great win in Finn Park for the FD lads though.
Referee was alright, considering what was going on. Didn't look like handball in the first half from where I was in the West Stand. Whatever about the penalty Brennan was flagged offside by the linesman, so he didn't deny Rovers the goal. When Ryan saved the penalty, Taylor and four off the Limerick bench celebrated by jumping in front of the 4th official. So he called the ref over...again no problems there, probably should've sent more off.
He was also on top of Ryan's timewasting, going up to him in the 47th minute to tell him to stop. Limerick have themselves to blame, had they not timewasted, it'd have been the easiest three points of their season. 8 minutes added time and a physio was only on the pitch once all game.
I don't know if he's played a full game for us yet.
Half a dozen goal chances missed by Bohs last night
Cant see how Derry fans will put up with Roddys brand of football for much longer.
Curious emotion of being not unhappy when Limerick conceded late on!.
Bit harsh on dfx there. The bitter posts don't usually defend the ref and say their team should have been easily beaten
Poor game in Tallaght last night but I thought Rovers just about deserved a draw
Sligo 1 - 0 Pats at HT, Russell with the goal. Wexford 1-0 up in Cobh.
Finish 2-2 at Sligo. Bermingham equalised before Byrne and North traded penalties, clearly not getting this weekend's memo that all spot-kicks must be poorly struck straight into the goalkeeper's arms.
