Crumlin United to compete with LOI sides in the EA Sports Cup

As far as I'm aware, so will Mayo League and Cockhill Celtic, and possibly two or three others.
I see the first round is due to be played between the first and second rounds of league games.
If it had been a week later teams could have played the game on St Patrick's day and possibly got better crowds. Perhaps some clubs will still look at this option. No use to us as we're away to Rovers on the 16th though.
It's a shame the Kerry League are involved any more. If a Kerry U19 side enters the U19 league next year, hopefully consideration might be given to entering the league cup again.
In previous years clubs in the Setanta received a bye in the first round (as did others). Expect the same this year
I attended a KDL vs Cork City game a few years ago. nice little away trip but there was a small crowd there and prob not a lot of money maid but there could have been 200 at the game although my memory isn't very sure.
not a bad idea to get non league teams to fill regional gaps.
Avondale or UCC would more than compete down South but not sure if they'll be asked
Non league teams have always filled regional gaps.
Any idea of a date of the draw for round 1?
Draw has been made today.
Games to be played 10th March.

Waterford United v Avondale United, RSC, 7.45pm.
(Byes: Cobh Ramblers and Wexford Youths)
Pool 2
Finn Harps v Cockhill Celtic, Finn Park, 7.45pm.
Galway FC v Mayo League, Eamonn Deacy Park, 7.45pm.
(Byes: Derry City and Sligo Rovers).
Pool 3
Crumlin United v Drogheda United, TBC.
Shelbourne v Bray Wanderers Tolka Park 8.00pm.
(Byes: Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers).
Pool 4
Athlone Town v Longford Town, Athlone Town Stadium, 7.45pm.
UCD v Bohemians, The UCD Bowl, 7.45pm.
(Byes: Mervue United and St. Patrick’s Athletic).
good to know we'll be getting through to the second round this year for our annual League Cup game against Wexford.
Our game v Limerick will have to be moved if the league match vs Pats is shifted to Sunday for TV. No confirmation of that yet though.
Would have to be a lot if changes just to accomdate a Sunday game so it looks very unlikely.
last season we were due to play a setanta game on the Monday and it got moved to accommodate the whims of RTE deciding to show our game v Limerick so it's entirely possible. Agree it's ridiculous that it wouldn't have been announced by now but there you go.
Cobh, Wexford, UCD and Mervue get Bye's When Cork, Limerick, Bohs and Athlone are not? Seems like the prem team should have the bye
I thought a draw was just made for the first two games in a certain region and any team that was not drawn to play in those two games get byes to the next round for example Cork vs Limerick drawn, followed by Waterford vs Avondale and the remaining teams received byes. Luck of the draw.

What's the craic with the next round, do you play the winners of the other tie in your pool, Bohs in our case? Is there a draw for home advantage or what?
There should be four teams in your pool and you'll play one of those. Bizarrely the press release seemed to indicate Mervue join Pats in there. That can't be right surely?
Jeez, what a sickener for Crumlin. Goals for Drogs coming on 89 and 117 minutes!
Now Shels 2 v 3 Bray (ET being played)
Drogheda thru AET 3-1 against Crumlin
Any Finn Harps fans on here at the game tonight? Did one of the Cockhill players actually get sent off for f*cking the ball at the ref??
Yeah, to bulk up the numbers they added Mayo League and 4 "Senior League" winners, Crumlin, Cockhill, Avondale and eh... Mervue. They then got one of the byes to the next round... But also are in the group with Pat's....
A bit like Gibraltar and Spain they couldn't be in the same group as Galway!!
Yeah, Pats, Bohs, Mervue and Longford will make up 2 pairings
Hoping for Mervue away as Pats haven't played them competitively
Didn't cop that the Galway clubs were seperated
