City one nil down Rovers scored after 24mins, Keith o'Halloran
1-1 Kearney fee kick.
The updates on the official site are a very good feature, to be fair.
Kearney seems to gettign in on the action a bit too-c'mon the rebel army! :ball:
Full time score 1-1. Match report to follow on site, photos tomorrow.
Not abad result i guess, no Benno due to ancle injury, hope it's not serious.
Rovers obviously had a point to prove, 1-1 is fine by me.
Weird team selection. Colin at centre back???
We should have hammered Rovers, they were crap and fairly ambitionless after they got their goal. A result of some comedy defending from us.
Kearneys goal was a classic..if u can download it from the official site, do.
Not from a free kick though adam.
Good for us were Fennaldo, Doyle, Gamble (esp second half a bit wayward in the first) and Kearney.
Flynny still looked of the pace. Colin looked like someone played out of position. The Cockney Rebel did not have a good game. Well i suppose it had to happen eventually.
Oh and the match officials were knobs, the cops broke up a game of shed end footie by ejecting some unfortunate for taking the ****,..and Mooney is still a legend. "Mooney give us a wave"
just back from the game and city deserved more out of it
georgie and fenn outstanding
flynny....time to pack up biy
only wants notice...blue boots first half...gold boots second half...do something with them
kearney............what a goal......goal of the season
p.s.
meslef and colm also sang a rendition of kilcoyne is our hero. in the horse and jockey and got away with it
brave boys

Good to see you integrating with the 'locals'
did the french feen play?
lack of defenders also shown up last night with colin o brien.
not his fault, dolan played him there but why the fcuk is one the best midfielders in the country playing centre half
at fault for the goal.
gamble man of the match
It was more yourself, vito golightly and a few others who sang that. I shut up after the first line! Still though we got away with it and stayed to have a pint, great stuff! :)Quote:

Seems a bit baffling that Colin T was centre half, while Lordan was RB.
Jeez, you're all very cheery lads.
Everybody else is beating Rovers in Inchicore but we're happy with a point, fcuk that  . Their own fans think that DCFC can catch them ffs.
A team that's lost four on the trot and in the turmoil they are, (apparently wages not being paid, Buckley gone and the club still owing him money) we should be beating. We were woeful in the first half last night, and we weren't good enough in the second half.
Sure we were well on top for spells, but while Russell Payne was good we didn't test him enough and in the end Rovers finished stronger than us.
I still can't believe that a team managed by Pat Dolan looks so uncertain at set pieces. Kearney didn't clear the first man from a corner all night. Free Kicks about the box were wasted bar the goal.
O'Flynn's lost a couple of yards of pace which I hope he gets back soon, it's not so long ago that he'd have been on any ball played over the top, while he was very strong when in possession, if the ball wasn't to feet, he didn't get it, he never looked like scoring either, in blue or gold boots.
Plus points were Gamble and George were very good together in midfield.
Fenn is maintaining a very high standard too. Flynny did look strong when he managed to get his foot on the ball.
In the end, we've only won two of the last seven in the league, first division sides put us out of both cups and Dolan has consistently shown a lack of a plan B when things aren't going well. There's a lot of people who post here who had 'Murphy Out' banners aimed at Gunther for less.
if we lose to Bohs on Friday, winning our games in hand leaves us battling for fourth with Waterford, and the prize for fourth...Sweet Fcuk All
Rant over, see you all in Dalymount friday, when I'll once again be screaming a lung out, although this time in hope more than expectation. :(
For the record, I thought the support last night from the City fans was excellent
What is the story with him? I heard from a buddy of his that Dolan asked him before the season and again since then to come back on certain terms, and that all he has to do is lift the phone and he is back in the squad. Is he waiting for a better offer or what?Quote:

What would any other manager do differently assuming he'd have the same set of players? because, lets be honest, Dolan hasn't ever been given any money whatsoever to spend on players and the same would be the case with any other manager.Quote:

As for Colin T at CB, it was strange but did we really have that many other options with Kev Murray and Benno injured? Rovers were a lot better than their recent form would suggest but we still did more than enough to win the game, Fenn came so close to scoring in the second half before Rovers were only inches away from gifting us an OG.
Last night was not one of the better away supports in Dublin we've had this season to be honest. There was only about 200 there and we didn't make as much noise as usual. Maybe the fact that we were spread out between the Shed and the stand didn't help. I'd say we'll have a bigger crowd and a much better atmosphere in Dalymount on friday.
Well there were a good few of us who were in the Shed for the whole game and another 50 or so people joined us for the second half. If the entire City support had stood in the Shed we would have made some unreal noise with that low roof.Quote:

I'm not looking for Dolan to be fired, but his team selection is baffling to say the least, but more importantly, our manager is NOT PLAYING OUR BEST TEAM.
Why was our most consistent midfielder all year playing at CB?
Why did John O'Flynn get a full 90 minutes?
Why was Hoggie sitting in the stand?
Why have we signed yet another midfielder?
Derek Coughlan is a phone call away, and given that we do not have ANY cover at for the centre of defence, it is a sackable offence for a manager to let this situation exist. Coughlan is fit, more than willing, and while not the player he once was, would be the ideal cover and shake Dan Murray up a bit.
Flynnie just isn't doing it, and don't give me any sh*te about needing games to get fit. He was very, very poor the other night and should have been taken off.
Bring Nwanko or Billy on and push George up front with Fenn.
For f*cks sake lads, this was the worst Rovers performance I've ever seen. They were absolute sh*t, yet we could only scrape a draw with them.
We have possibly the most talented bunch of players in the league, we should have put 4 or 5 past them the other night, but there is a tension there of some kind, which the manager should be sorting out.
Our season has fallen apart and Dolan seems to be fiddling while Rome burns.
Lennox needs to get hold of Dolan and get him to sort it out NOW....
Well, after our Euro fantasy it looks like we have finally hit rock bottom.
In fighting within the camp, players being played out of position, I get the feeling all is not well at the moment.
It seems that Dolan will stick with the same 13/14 players no matter where he has to play them.
Is this because he doesn't like the other players?
Is this because the other players don't want to play for him?
If he is being stubborn about playing certain players then it is to the detriment of our team.
Dolan is doing himself no favours,
I hope Lennox won't stand for this crap much longer.
Unless this situation is sorted out and fast then we'll finish below Waterford, imagine the shame of that.
Pat, the honeymoon is over.
i dont think people moving to the shed altered the singing in any way it just meant singing was coming from 2 areas in stead of one .i was in the shed my self .i must say its a xrappy ground though
Its seems to be deja vu every season. First 1st place goes, then a few weeks later 2nd out of reach & team continue to slide.
Wouldn't be wrong to say almost man for man we had better players on saturday but something wrong when they put together in a team. I'm beginning to notice to real game plan when city have the ball (e.g thru the middle or wide with crosses...) which is where Dolan comes in.
Its hard to say if the season is over but defeat at Bohs could kill any ambition of 2nd or 3rd place.
Gamble did well, George not effective, Kearney & Doyle good, Fenn quieter than normal.
This was the type of game John O'Flynn would have been looking at 2 goals pre injury! He even got out paced by central defender for ball into corner. We can only speculate what wrong with him but somehow i don't think its all physical.
1-1 against the way that Rovers team played in 2nd half was a disgrace.
I thought George was ineffective & slowed up play. Fenn good but not as good as previous games but overall more effective than George.Quote:

I see on official site that Dolan was happy with the performance.
Fpr pnce i'd prefer him to be happy with the result as no points for pperformances.
Ldas we will finish 2nd watch it watch it.
Team selection leaves a lot to be desired recently. CT at right full, then CB. Where is Greg O Halloran, played the start of the season at Right Full and was exceptional

Pat's selection has been weird of late, Colin T being misused greatly, don't forget the CHF game too! Lots of points wasted... :(
