We definitely had 2 of the best 4 teams in Europe in our group, what are the chances we had the number 1 and number team in Europe?
It would make our performance look somewhat better if we were beaten by the best in Europe.
I fancy Spain will make the final not too sure about Italy.

Germany will be strong favourites to beat Italy, we probably did have 3 of the best 6 in our group though. Though given the dying fish imitation we put on it's an irrelevance how strong our opposition were.

Italy didn't score in 120 minutes against England, only scored against us from two set pieces, and have two days less rest than the Germans before the semi final as well as playing extra time tonight.
I don't see them beating Germany.
They certainly won't dominate them in the air. Italy's first against us in Lansdowne was also from a corner, but you can't see Germany being so slack. Di Natale has to play.
Thats a big advantage, unfair really. Germans also dropped their front 3 for the last match so they will be fresh.Quote:

Croatia drew with Italy and only lost 1-0 to Spain so there is a good case for making them the third best team in the
tournament. There is a slightly less good case for making Ireland the 4th best team.
Being placed 3rd or 4th is as much to do with the luck of draw as anything else.
Had Croatia been in another group they may well have made the semi's.
There is absolutely no good case for making Ireland the 4th best team in the tournament.
