Tis only (very early!) Tuesday!
About 100 - 120 I'll optimistically say. It's a Saturday and there seems to be a fair bit of talk about it.
Hard to know our starting eleven at this stage with injuries and that. Like I assume Bradley and Behan will be back but I'm not sure who you'd drop from the Rovers game and how we'd set up.
Like on form and fitness you'd probably have to go with a midfield of O'Leary, McGrath, McGann, Bradley but looks really narrow typed out there, like I'm not sure where you'd put them!
We have to avoid defeat first and foremost. Seven points and the title race is over.
If we manage to win our first two games after the break are Wexford and Harps at home so we could feasibly be at the top after that little series of games and I genuinely think that if we ever manage to hit the front it'll be hard to knock us off it.
It's a huge game, for the team and for Scully's position. Limerick have to get something out of this game, or it will be talk of play-offs, not promotion and likely some serious calls regards change in management.
Limerick (apparently, wasn't there myself) played well away to Shams while Longford received a bit of an upset against Cherry Orchard, so I'd like to think Limerick will be better confidence/morale wise and they tend to play better away then at home. But Longford are a very good outfit this season, very solid and consistent. Predicting a score draw.
Any chance Foley will be fit? We're looking a little toothless upfront in the last while, really over-reliant on Gaffney.
The poor crowds that Flancare has been getting are a shame, I'd be interested in seeing how many turn out for a "top of the table" clash.
We usually do quiet well up in Flancare. Decent pitch with plenty of space to knock it around. If O'Leary keeps up his current form he will have a big say in the result. With Gamble missing he has really stepped up in my eyes and has been showing the form he did when he first arrived.
Gaffney moving up front has seen a big change in him also and hopefully he can get in and around their centre halves to cause some trouble.
Jeffrey Judge may also be available as he can sign as of Friday AFAIK.
I'm going to be optimistic and go for 2-1 Limerick with about 90 traveling.
Just to clarify Jeffrey Judge wont be available.
The form can't be signed until the Friday and it then has to be sent by registered post to the FAI for them to complete the registration.
I'm loving the sound of 90-120 away fans coming down. I think all fans of any club will agree the home fans only really get going when they have some rival fans to go up against. I'm also loving the talk of the race being over if we win! That's certainty not the case but nice to hear it all the same :)
Limerick fans are a friendly old bunch, treated us very well even in defeat last time so we will do the same in saying safe journey lads and worst of luck :)
Limerick were unlucky not to get a draw in Dublin last week, we are going into this game with a lot of confidence im going for a 2nil limerick win.
I feel its put up or shut up time for us and think we will gain a win.
13-8 at paddy power looks great value to me!!!!A 3-1 limerick
victory for all us long suffering supporters to begin dreaming again...
Speaking of Paddy Power I see a 2-1 for Longford is @8/1 sure it would be rude not to :)
Well its a big game so we should bottle it somehow but they dont have big crowds to scare our lads so i will go with a draw.
Could really do with some good news regarding injuries.
In fairness that top 3 sides problem is a bit over emphasised - last years record was:
Cork L-D-D
Shels D-L-W
Monaghan D-L-W
So far this season we've lost 3 out of 3 but being an optimist I'm confident that record will read a lot better by the end of the season :)
They won 2 of 9 "big games" last season (10 points from 27 in a league where three or so more points would have seen Limerick promoted) and you think its an over emphasised problem?
Let me explain:
If you look at the record of the other top clubs in the "big games" last season, you will find they are about the same as ours. Yet people go on about it like its a failing thats particular to Limerick alone, or Pat Scully alone.
Now do you understand why I say the problem is over-emphasised?
The margin between promotion and not last year was so narrow that you could chose one of several potential results/reasons, any single one of which could have been the difference - need I remind you of a certain two points gained not on the field of play for example.
Other teams having the same problem doesn't make it ok, it just makes us lucky in regards oppenants also screwing up. And, on the basis of this year, our problem has continued in a league that is far less competitive (or should be) then it was last year.
It's up to Scully and the team, tomorrow, to change that.
Like I said before, I'm not actually expecting them to lose, I think they're playing well enough to avoid that possibility. I just think a win, away to a team that has been as good in the league as Longford has been this year, might be a bit too much to hope for. But even getting a point in a "big game" will be an improvement on Limerick's usual fortunes.
if anything out defeat to orchard will have the boys reved up for this game.played sh1t against orchard and id say few vital changes to be made for this game such as upfront :). ye missing 6 players?? Joe Gamble,Cian Collins, Gary Sheahan, Dominic Foley.
,Paudie Quinn and Shaun Kelly are out according to extratime...
Im hitting the road car is full i know on the way back limerick will be 3pts better off and go unbeaten in the league for the rest of the season save this post bluewhitearmy.
brill result 2-0 we are better off playing away from home every week :)
should kick on now and claim top spot and stay there (hopefully)
match report lads??
13/8,how bad, bout time I made a few quid off them.what was Bradley sent off for?
2 yellows twas fair enough i'd say.
1st half you boys were a bit better but that was mostly down to us really and the goals were from a deflection and a **** up from Kirby, we had the better of the second half and especially after the sending off, one of those games on another day could have been a draw but fat man up top did his job for ye and you were solid in defence.

We deserved the win for sure were by far the better team first half....First goal was very lucky came off a Longford players hand i think, 2nd was a great finish after a nice through ball.
The ref did gave Longford absolutely everything some of the decisions to give corners were the most shocking decisions i've ever seen also don't think Brads deserved to be sent off,the amount of frees he gave for people fairly winning the ball but just touching off people was ridiculous.
We played the ball on the floor very well at times tonight and definitely could have scored more. Like i have said before Gaffney is far better as a striker. Man of the Match for me was Dave O Leary for me the lad is class. Also thought young McGrath did very well.
I dont agree at all that it was down to Longford and i think a draw would not have been a air result but thats just my opinion.
After the sending off we really just sat back and kept it tight which worked well enough.
Have to say too fair play to Longford Flancare is looking very well these days.
Won the league tonight.
Anyone on here feel free to quote me in October.
There's beating a team and there's putting them in their place and Longford were well and truly put in their place tonight. Despite playing most of the second half with 12 men (eleven plus the ref) they created nada, nothing, zip, we were so comfortable twas unreal.
Dominated Longford in the first half they had absolutely nothing to offer except long diagonal balls. They ended up using three different players at right full over the course of the night (even subbed a sub at one stage) Brossie and Gaffney were killing them, they couldn't cope with O'Leary, Bradley and McGrath spraying it behind them.
First goal took a slight deflection but was on its way anyway, sweet strike.
Second goal was a screamer, struck it clean as a whistle.
The sending off was an absolute disgrace. The ref in general was a disgrace. I can't decide whether he is incredibly, INCREDIBLY, inept, or just crooked.
In the second half after the sending off Longford had a lot more of the ball as we dropped far too deep. As above though, despite playing against the extra man and the ref we weren't particularly bothered. They had nothing Cousins was doing the Riverdance on the sideline.
Hope you're reading Caschera, your paymasters wouldn't be happy, you did your best but class outed in the end.
Bitter or what?
I'd take the 'fat man' over any of your strikers any day
Exact same circumstance as Monaghan last year.
You bring any bit of a crowd to redneck country for a big game and they feel intimidated so they feel they have to act the big man and create problems where there should be absolutely none whatsoever.
Genuine conversation I overheard tonight:
"Take down those ****ing flags" (great manners)
"Who the **** are you?"
"I'm the head honcho, I run this gaff" (I kid you not folks, he actually said that) :D
http://tuttoqua.files.wordpress.com/...n_cleef_01.jpg
(laughing out loud) "Give us a good reason to take down these flags?"
"This is Section B reserved for Limerick fans and I'm expecting a sell out" (I kid you not folks, he actually said that. Also for the record event comptroller, that's section D you had the Limerick fans in)
"Go away you clown"
"Do you want me to get the guards?"
"Off you go"
Runs away to get the guards.
Cue two (sound to be fair) guards arriving who found your man hilarious and the whole situation a bit bemusing.
Section O's flag wasn't removed from the seats infront of them.
Tis the luck of God there wasn't a crush. :bulgy:
