Carey, Bennett, O’Grady, Cahill
Hartigan, Mulligan
Shamrock Rovers 0-0 Cork City
Shamrock Rovers 0-1 Cork City (Mulligan 42)
1-1 tony grant for d scum 2 mins into 2nd half.
Rovers 1 1 City
Aperantly Devine f****d up again.
O’ Dowd’s kick-out cleared the Cork backline and Grant finished clinically past Cork keeper Michael Devine.
Ya just after reading that.Just got a txt from someone at the match and they said Devine messed up again.Id trust inthernet before i would him though.
2-1 to city
Carey launched what looked like a speculative effort from wide out on the left about 25 yards from goal.
But Carey’s right footed effort looped over O’ Dowd and into the top corner of the net.
Aertel have it as Horgan?
Who ever it was (carey/hoggie) they picked some time to score their first senior goal!!!
Is it over yet?
Ya Hoggy is what I have heard as well.
Hoggie lobbed the keeper on 73.
Confirmed by my man at the game.
3-1 ollie cahill in injury time
Ollie Cahill capped a fine individual display two minutes into time added on at the end of the game when he drilled a low shot from the tightest of angles past Tony O’ Dowd.
Here we go lads. What a result CITY FOR THE LEAGUE.
Shamrock Rvs..19 11 4 4 33 16 37

Great win tonight.
Shamrock Rovers 1-3 Cork City
Mulligan, Horgan and Cahill
Great boost for the season and a great confindence boost for the cup game.
C'mon lads. We can actually do this!!!
What a result what a game!!!
Superb cross by Ollie for first goal, absoluted blasted past Costello & great to see Mulligan to get a goal.
Boring scrappy first half & IMO was shocking mistake by O'Rourke but been pointed out to me Devine could have got the ball if came out for.
We looked dogy at 1-1 with Deccie getting killed at right back & Carey playing too deep at right midfield. Gunther saved the day by replacing Deccie with Kelvin & Carey back to his best position at right back.
Hoggie clearly went for the lob as he cut back in to come onto his right foot. I hear rumours it was cos he right footed but i don't believe it ;)
Fight gone out of Rovers & Ollie capped MOM performance with great third by cutting inside to place a right footed shot into far bottom corner!!!
O'Grady was massive in midfield again. Don't think rovers be looking forward to cup game now.
Great city performance- poor first half. Ollie set goal up brilliantly and well finished.
Re rovers goal-O'Rourke misjudged the ball, devine was coming for it (possibly expecting a backpass) but turned back. IMO, he would definitley have made it, if he'd kept moving. He made some good stops & catches, but I think there's a serious communication problem between him and the defence. Deccie was roasted by billy woods 2nd half, and if he'd stayed on, i think they'd have won. (FAO: Gunther- deccie is not a full back!!!!)
Hoggy's goal was class, he deserved it, as did ollie his. O'Grady was excellent, carey solid when he went back to defence, mulligan was all running as usual. Hartigan dd very well when he came back into defence towards the end- not very effective up front, though to be fair rovers players were climbing all over him. some terrible tackles went in, particularly on ollie.
Was there any improvement on the 'Appreciation of Travelling support from Players' side of things?
Against Shels it was just Damo Rourke and Mooney.
i was at the match and unfortunatley it was a devine fcuk
(not advertising!!!) up
Yes there actually was! 4or 5 players this time- Derek among them, he was particularly enthusiastic clenched fists in the air etc.,, ollie as wellQuote:

Nice to see, well done lads, long may it continue.
F**klast friday was a great result and a great game. we played out of our skins (both supporters and players) and afterwards I was never on such a (non-chemical ) high in ages. ollie 's third goal was a cracker and mulligan's was one of the moves of the year
the players were great and fair play to gunther for whiping off deccie. mulligan, cahill(king), grady, horgan, coughlan were mighty and while the first 20 minutes of the second half were pretty tense it is was great to stick it to the rovers supporters who showed their true nasty side when things were going against them.
lads if a football game was ever as good as sex then this was it. the only sour note of the game was the disgraceful performance of greg costello in trying to murder ollie cahill
for anyone at it i was the guy in the red jacket siting next to my buddy in the very front row with the black hair and glasses. apparentely me mates spotted me on tv :-)
oh the beauty of live football- f**gin ace. yessssssssssss
Didnt have the best view of Hoggie's goal, but Im not to sure that he ment it! Still though it was sweet, and no more than he deserved. The other 2 goals were fantastic aswell, its just a shame that Jimmy Floyd Mulligan didnt finish off that chance just before 1/2 time, it would have been a cracker!
How wasnt a Rover's player sent off btw? The v.late, v.bad tackle on Mulligan (when they got the free for offside in the 2nd half) could (& dare I say, should) have been a straight red card. Who was the ref, does any one know? I didnt recognise him. I wont even start about the linesman
it was one of the mckeon's- dave i think. the lino was unbelievably bad alright. Should have been a few more cards- the tackle on mulligan WAS a red and costello was incredibly lucky to stay on.
