Has Alan Moore done enough for a recall for the Ireland Squad? ( 3 goals in Champions League Qualifiers ).
I know that the return leg will be on the same day as the Ireland v Bulgaria match ( or maybe the day before ) so this would rule him out regardless, but if the matches didn't clash, do you think he should've been called up?
he shows a small bit of form and u want him in the irish squad
tell him join the q and do it on a regular basis
Fair point. But lets hear no more talk of yer man O'Flynn for Ireland in that case ( especially given his scoring ratio in the Intertoto Cup ). Good player, but certainly not in good form this season.

If Moore (and Hoolahan for that matter) impress against Deportivo I don't see any reason they shouldn't be considered, I thought they were the best two players on the field last wednesday (although Heary was excellent).Quote:

Add good performances against World class competition and the fact that both are mid-season as opposed to just back in training and that'd be enough for me to seriously consider it.
I'd have Hoolahan in before Moore if I was picking one mid fielder from Shels to be called up, he's been fantastic all season long.
That's interesting about Hoolahan keeping Reid out at U-21 level as I think they both are very similar players in build and ability, hopefully in 5 years our best players will ply their trade here than in the lower divisions of EnglandQuote:

The first two boys dont play at a "high" level but have never let Ireland down. Barrett is extreemly over rated and doesnt even make the Coventry team every week. Have seen him made look pretty poor by the likes of O'Flynn, Hoolhan and others in the past.Quote:

Its not just Moore, look at the above - ive taken out the 'best' players - can you honestly say that we couldn't replace most or all of the above with players from the eL without lowering the quality of the squad.Quote:

Were talking about Moore based on his performances in europe, so what he's done says nothing about the standard of the league as he's barley played in it.

The Shels players like Byrne and Moore, have a chance to show Brian Kerr that they can perform at the highest level and it doesn't really get any higher than Deportivo. It should settle the debate about EL players playing for ROI once and for all.
I think the only thing all this proves is that can't generalise leagues. Dempsey was in 1st division with Waterford & a first teamer in Scotland, Richie Byrne was only average eL player & he also 1st teamer.
Very interesting. How about Jon Dahl Tomasson -flop at Newcastle but went to Feyenoord and won the UEFA Cup ( scoring twice in the final I think ). Several other good players came to the Premiership and flopped e.g. the Ukranian player at Spurs who was sh!t hot in the Champions League before that, the list goes on.Quote:
