Brian Keane I believe..
Yeah Brian Keane has been confirmed as the manager.
The B team have lost a few players from last year with some moving to the A team and the curse that is immigration for employment.....no sign of any new players coming in yet but hopefully Brian can persuade a few lads to sign up under his new regime :D
They are playing Olympic B in a friendly on Thursday evening....
Shannon Town B 3-1 Shannon Olympic B...All set for the Wesley now :)
Predictions:
Round 1.
Shannon Olympic A 1-2 Bridge..
----------------------------
Shannon Hibs A 1-0 Newmarket
Shannon Hibs B 2-0 Bunratty/Cratloe
Shannon Town A 5-0 Shannon Olympic B
Shannon Town B 1-0 Bridge
---------------------------------------
Hibs A 3-0 Hibs B
Town A 1-2 Town B
---------------------------------------
Hibs A 1-0 Town B..
Really cant see a big difference in quality of Shannon Town A and B team this year.
+ Cant see any team other then a Shannon team winning it this year.
Newmarket will walk away with the tournament best team by a mile
would not disagree with you on last seasons form and if ye get same squad available would expect you to win wesley webb , but ye may find 1-2 teams capable of running you close.. i would wait and see what sort of teams hibs a / olympic a / shannon town a / bunratty /cratloe get out before i make any predictions.. but it is looking good for a good tournament and some tasty looking clashes.
Ya should be a good tournament but I honestly can't see us being beaten better squad this year..
Second you obviously don't know that the squad is going to be a combination of A, B and youths for this tournament, but how would you know this as you are not a part of Newmarket Celtic (PM me if I am wrong ) and would have no idea as to who is available.
We will compete but have enough respect for ourselves and other teams not to be talking ourselves up.
Leave the rubbish out. Thanks.
I have watched all the Shannon Teams training and all have had good turn outs. Seen Newmarket last season and they have a good side, but I still think a Shannon team will win it..Not sure the quality of the bridge or bunratty/cratloe, will be interesting to see.
I think Newmarket against Hibs is the pick of the matches for sure could be a cracker.
Should be a good tournament and give an inkling as to how teams will do this year in their respective divisions...bit of added spice in that Shannon Town A and Hibs A will be playing in the same league.
How long will these games be 60 or 90 mins
Anyone hear how the bridge and olympic got on?
Not a great result for Olympic ... I heard they haven't signed any new players and have lost 3 or 4
Who was the young lad in midfield for the bridge good young lad
Wouldn't of known many of the Bridge Lads now at all.....look a decent enough young team like and could of won by a lot more. Olympic went down to 10 half way during the 2nd half because Alan Casey went off injured. They had no subs at all.....
The Olympic team was something like...Gerry McGettrick, Dave Collins, Donnacadh Kelly, Karl Fogarty, Ian Hogan, Ray Quigley, Alan Casey, Lake, Some Lad I didnt know and up front was Titch Hanley and Jay Stretton...and as I said they had no subs at all...
In all truth it was a poor game....I couldn't see The Bridge going on and beating the likes of Newmarket or Hibs A....
bridge utd as follows. paul toughy, johnny hayes, billy maxwell, darren murphy, stephen stewart, brendan murphy, daragh fitz, christy griffin, taigh keogh, jamie o gorman and tom white...
Goals from Ken Buckley and Brian McGorrian.
Hibs Team.
Ross Dunne
BJ, Finbar Neville, Julio, Pa Devane
Jamie Egan, Rob Wall, Fred, Brian McGorrian
Rasher, Ken Buckley
Subs: Ryan Kelly, Shep and Jamie Cullen for Ken Buckley, Rasher and Rob Wall
bridge were very under strength, had to call up some of there b team panel, players such as derek fahy, shane devanney, mark culbert, anthony whyte, kieran quinlan, alan mul and jason whyte all to come back into contention for the shannon town b game, young side with great potential, only time will tell how they progress
the bridge had two b team players which one was a team last year... also they had a team players on the bench so the term 'very under strength' is a bit of an exaggeration no???
Was just looking through the old wesley webb threads and its a bit weird that for the last 3 years Shannon Town A have got Olympic B as the first game each year... Maybe its just the look of the draw but its a big coincidence:)
