Just Follow The Floodlights

Just a little update on the LOI book which is now almost finished . Having got my wish with the title I'm now trying to come up with a good solid picture for the front cover. I have a couple which I've bought but ideally i suppose I'm looking for something maybe funny/dramatic which involves supporters and the bright light of a floodlight pylon. I have a brilliant photo of fans on the roof of dalymount in 1985 but its an Ireland game so might not convey the message of an LOI book.
Just said I'd post here as the publisher is willing to pay for a good photograph.
Should you have one-or can point me in right direction I would be very grateful.

Brian,

a couple of suggestions.

1) Try the history thread on this forum. There might be something in there.
2) Also, it would be worth visiting most of the individual club forums and asking. I know that you would get a great reaction to such a request on the Bohs forum and we have some avid photographers on there.
3) wait for people to post here i suppose!! :)

great photo, not sure if its exactly what youre looking for but worth posting. Maybe contact Peter O'Doherty who took that photo and others.

That first photo is quality Skstu.

I think the first one is great . I had this idea if I could just superimpose the shadow of a guy sitting on the roof watching the game it would make it that bit more dramatic!

Or even get the same photo with just 1 guy walking towards the ground with his back to the camera

Well thanks to Pete I now have permission to use the picture and am really going to push for this as a cover - yes also a good idea partysaint

Have that photo but with 3 people with their backs to the camera walking to the stadium; an old man, a middle-aged woman, and a young child, with flags or scarves etc., showing how the LOI is for everyone?

What about the chubby though nattily dressed middle aged man with an umbrella?

I have that picture in the daylight and snow as well, though there's no way you'd be going to a game!

I think it would miss the point of following the floodlights. You can't see them as easy if it's daytime and they're not on.

I agree. Think of going to a ground a way you've never gone before, for a Friday night game, not really knowing the way and just looking for the floodlights. Try to capture that feeling of anticipation/excitement and don't worry about all this 'having fans of all ages' cliche.

There's also a ground guide within the book (as I've visited 15 of the 21 now) and the "Mon-Dog" gets a special mention for the best value, and tasting hotdog around!

No, theres something about the white light streams against the night sky that makes it feel special.

Yeah I had one a couple of weeks ago there. Not great.

I can only imagine how that combination would go down on a Cork,Lims or Derry long distance supporters bus.Long oul journey there :)
