Anyone know when he's announcing the squad for this?
Anyone know when he's announcing the squad for this?
This Friday (5th November) according to the paper.
On my wishlist: Clark, Coleman, Foley, Maguire, Walters, Wilson, S Reid, Stokes. With all to get some game time.
Realistically, two might.
Hasn't Stephen Reid 'retired' from international football?? He's always injured anyway.
Andy Reid would have made more sense, but Trap's too stubborn....not that AR is fit either, probably?
Reid needs to find his feet again, doesn't even deserve a call up at the moment until he gets playing again and finds form. I think the only guaranteed call up is Maguire, since he was invited to the russian game and all that. If he didn't get the call now it could cause hassles.
Regardless of whether he'll play them, he should still bring in a load of new players for the training sessions.
I reckon Clark, Coleman, Foley, Walters and Wilson will get a run. I'd be happy enough with that. Maguire possibly moving fom stands to bench on a trajectory towards the pitch. McCarthy's injury is very unfortunate. Along with Coleman, Clark and Meyler (ditto on the injury) he forms an exciting cabal of rising premier league stars bristling with potential. What I wouldn't give for a forward of equal quality to appear on the horizon..
I'd be surprised if either of the two Reid's play for Ireland again.
Is Maguire really that good an option? I fancy if he was playing in England rather than the Netherlands, people would be bemoaning the capping of yet another top-flight squad player. Clark might be the better bet at midfield, at least in the short term.
I'm sure Andy Reid will be capped at some time in the future, just not by this manager or in an important match.
Maguire gets as much time as Whelan in a top league, so why shouldn't he get a run out?
That was my point.
You should've used this  Charlie.
I'd be a bit worried that they simply roll out the big guns for this: how many bums will Jonathan Walters put on seats? I hope that the bean counters don't influence selection too much, but it might.
S Reid came out recently and said if Trap made the call he would answer it. It was worded to something to that effect. Will try and find a link. Nonetheless, admit its unlikely he'll be back in the near future.

I would love to see Coleman and Wilson get a run out.
Anyone know what time the squad announcement is at?
Interesting article in regards to Noble. It seems the FAI may be pursuing him despite what seems a lack of interest.

Quite looking forward to this. With team and manager under a bit of pressure, and no-shortage of new options, it's probably the most intriguing squad announcement in quite some time.

Walters, Wilson and Coleman the only uncapped players. Caleb Folan recalled
No Clark
The omission of Clark and Maguire is very puzzling.
Clark's paperwork - or whatever the process is -musn't have been completed in time. Maybe the same for Maguire? Not as radical a squad announcement as I'd hoped.
Walters and Folan included at the expense of Keogh. Shameful.
25,000 pounds in the bag for Rovers so :)
I can see run outs for Wilson, Cunningham and Walters too
I'm actually really disappointed with this squad. Say what you like about Mick McCarthy, Brian kerr, and Stan, they used these friendlies to bring on the younger players. I cannot understand why Maguire isn't in the squad at all. Clark's paperwork probably hasn't come through yet as has been said already. We need options to what's already there, but Trap doesn't seem to be doing a whole lot about it.
Good to see Treacy back in. Disappointing we won't get to see Clark, obviously a paperwork issue. I thought Maguire would have been included.
No Stokes... Surely worth a place in the squad??
Personally I don't think Maguire has done enough to be included. He's only featured once in the last month for his club team. If we start going down the route of calling people up for the sake of it, then I think we'd be heading down a very slippery slope. Getting called up for your country shouldn't be devalued like that.
He's named a 27 man squad, those who were injured coming back in, with Keogh and Joe Murphy dropped. I thought Folan was out of the picture but apparently not, I suppose he offers an alternative. I think we're all used to Traps selection policy by now , and while its subject to criticism, we shouldn't be suprised to see all the usual faces.
Clark's FIFA clearance hasn't come through yet
Trap talking about Noble and o'Hara at the press conference
There is a big hole in the squad where McCarthy would have been.
Is Andy K dropped? not that I am perturbed about it.
Norway friendlies should usually carry a comatose warning.
They will play a 451. If Carew is not fit to play upfront, they have another decent talented striker.
One Riise on the left and another Riise on the right.
Good to see Treacy's decision to pull out of the last fixtures hasn't done him any harm. Just as I predicted.
I would have hoped to see this players in the squad at least.
Rory Delap (Plays every week in EPL and surely a better option than Green even if he is 34.), Wes Hoolahan and Stephen Ward
