Bump(Just a reminder thats tonight folks)
Film was on last night on Channel 4, I've recorded it and I'll series link this as well
Do you think its going to be as disturbing as the movie? Hopefully less violent. Hardly slept last nite from watching the movie.
What did ya all think of the 1st show?, was a bit slow IMO but I guess it was just to build the base for the next 3 episodes and to catch you up on what happend between the end of the movie and start of this
I enjoyed it, it had some very funny moments and you can sense that it's just going to get darker and darker over the later episodes.
Funny in parts but was a tad disappointed. The Northern down to earth quirkiness seemed a bit forced and at times I found it hard to believe in. Having said that it had its moments and I will be tuning in next week to see if it needed first episode to settle down.
I enjoyed it. It was a bit slow but i think that was to be expected. The scene in the Young girls house(cant remember her name) was hilarious.
Hopefully more of the same with a faster pace next tuesday!
Watched the film and the first episode of the TV series back to back
film is excellent, highly recommend it.
First episode was slow, but it was more of an introductory episode than anything else, trying to fill in where these characters have been in the intervening years.
I bought this http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/33843...t/Product.html a couple of years ago and i highly recommend it.
Dead Mans Shoes is fantastic and Paddy Considine's performance in that and A Room For Romeo Brass is a master class in acting.
I also agree. love this clip

you can actually hear his fist clenching!!!!
Romeo Brass, Dead mans shoes and 24/7 are all worth checking out.
His rapper film (KLe Donk) is a bit crap though so I'd avoid that.
Apprently the focus is going to be on Lol for the series. I haven't seen much Meadows stuff but apparently this is the first time he's set a story around a female lead.
Just watched the first two episodes back-to-back on 4OD, seems the best way to do it since the first ep is a little slow but the second is just great imo. Really enjoying it so far and it's beautifully made (as you'd expect from Meadows).
The last episode was brilliant - really sets it up for the final episode
There was some criticism that the first couple of episodes were a bit too light, but I think the third was possibly some of the most difficult and disturbing television I've ever seen and it's more than likely going to get much darker in the final episode. It really is a brilliantly put together mini series.
Haven't seen the 3rd episode but I'd have to admit I thought it's been a bit of a pastiche of the movie so far and has nearly as much in common with Gavin and Stacey.
I won't ruin it on you LR, but passinginterest you're spot on about episode 3 alright. 'That scence' at the end was pretty heavy alright.
Aye, it was harrowing - about as far removed from "Gavin and Stacey" as you can get.
excellent finish to this. some of the most powerfull tv in a long time.
The final two episodes were some of the best TV I've seen in a long time. Hard to watch at times but very powerful.
Noticeable that Meadows only directed the last 2 episodes. Very hard to watch at times but really shows what a powerful medium television can be. Another update in a few years to take it into the 90's might be interesting.
Fcuk sake Neish. At least give it a week. Some of us ain't seen the last episode.
Sorry, but why would you read a thread reviewing a show if ya hadn't already seen it?
I don't understand the part in the final episode where the aliens try and take over the estate and don't get me started on the whole vampire plot line.
Yeah and why did gadget go mental and kill Shaun?
I think it's a testament to the writing that the final scene, when Shaun woke up and it was all a dream, didn't come off as trite or pandering to the critics
Bastids the lot of yis.:D
