New name on United Park!!

It's good to name a ground after a David Bowie Album!
I'm sure there'll be plenty of crisp, attacking football.
Good press release. Nice crisp delivery.
It's a terrible name but sure if it gives them a few quid extra sure why not. I'm sure there wasn't many companies banging down the door to sponsor it.
How embaressing.
Drogs fans will be satisfied now that everything's going to be all right.
More prawn cocktail than prawn sandwiches in Drogheda then.
like someone on our site mentioned, they should have gone all out and called it the hunky dorys bowl!
its great news for Drogs that Hunky Dory's arent meanies when it comes to sponsorship.
Stadiums named after sponsors is already normality here in Germany. Remember the Signal-Iduna Park (Westfalenstadion Dortmund), HSH-Nordbank Arena (Volksparkstadion Hamburg), DKB Arena (Ostseestadion Rostock) etc... I hate it, actually. It kills tradition. There are already a lot of young football fans who have forgotten the traditional names of the stadiums. Best example: A HSV fan told recently a radio station that he thinks the original name of the Hamburg Stadium would be AOL Arena. You have to know that the Volksparkstadion called AOL Arena some years ago. Because of such things I don't like sponsor names for stadiums. But in fairness this is just my German point of view.
On the other side it's always good if there is anyone who bring money into the LOI and the clubs. Football is all about money. And if the League of Ireland want to improve it just needs money, money & money.
An excellent way of bringing home the (smokey) bacon.
well played. ;)

Flancare Park
Kingspan Centrury Park
Hunky Dorys Park
Des Kelly Carpets Park?
Woodies DIY Park??
Rehab Bingo Park???
Nearly had Budweiser Park (Belfield).
Should Drogheda not be done for taking the game into disrepute?
Hopefully with this bit of news they won't be Walk(ers) over anymore.
Coat. Gone.
If rumours are to believed Dundalk had fast"fix" park for a couple of matches towards the end of last season!!!!!
I'm nacho about the whole idea of selling naming rights to stadia in general, wotsits say about the value of tradition?
And with a name like that, teams will hardly be quavering in their boots at the prospect of visiting the place!
Some perri good puns here. Next time I go to Drogheda, will I still be able to get two cups of tay to go?
When i first read this thread i thought it was a pis* take....turns out its the real "mc coy"!!!
Isn't it a (Golden) wonder... If Shamrock Rovers come to town, would they be The Hula Hoops?
Well, OF COURSE it's embarrassing. How is playing in a ground called 'Hunky Dorys Park' NOT embarrassing? The point is - Is (the reported) 100,000 Euros worth the embarrassment? - Yes.
It's like if someone offered you a thousand Euros to go around wearing a T shirt saying 'I AM A ****'. Most people would do it. In effect Drogheda are being paid to be humiliated. But, for very good reasons, they can't afford to look a gift horse in the mouth. Fair enough. Fans will still call it United Park anyway.
Sorry - I thought I'd get away with ****! (Begins in T, ends in T, folks - just in case anyone thinks I meant the 'C' word..).
