Is this the new "Thanks" system?
Hopefully not, reputation is unsuitable on a site like this I think.
Would hate to see mine! :0
your reputation precedes you lady
We'll see how it goes.
I just approved dman's post (got to keep it in the club :) )
What happens now? Don't see a reputation counter anywhere.
you can view how many points you have by clicking on the star in the bottom left corner, don't know if you can see others
So you can. Seems kind of pointless without a comparison though.
I've seen this elsewhere: you could sort the members list by reputation. Doesn't seem to be available here though. There was also a visible representation of your rep (a bar of green segments - or red for the people being picked on) on the left of your posts.
I don't want to make a big thing of reputation, it can be very troublesome; in fact I may yet remove the ability to give negative reputation/
John83, the green dot to the right of your User Title is the start of the bar.
I think it has a couple of drawbacks compared with the thanks system alright. In my experience, it doesn't become a problem unless mods get behind the bullying of someone widely loathed.
Ah sure I just feck them out on their ear anyway.
so is it safe to say that the thanks function is not coming back?
couldnt be arsed with this reputation malarkey. Id prefer to thank an individual post (insightful, humurous, whatever) than be adding to someones imaginary "cyber-reputation".
Plus i haf nearly 500 thanks that i wouldnt mind getting back... ;)
Yes, it shows up in their profile.
meh, its not as good as the thanks was.
Meh, post #5.
I don't see the point if it doesn't come up on the post myself but it's not that big a deal.
Thanks was handy because it was an easy way to agree with a point without 15 people posting 'I agree' 'Well said' for the rest of the thread.
Cant really see the point of this
i would have thanked that :)
Says here I've 15 reputation points. How does this increase/decrease?
There's a lack of, eh, thanking in the totty watch thread at the moment.
People add reputation for particular posts you make, see the star in the bottom left of posts to add it. You can see who gave you rep for what posts in your control panel.
"DmanDmythDledge will become famous soon enough"
Popular ballix...;)
and how many points do you get when somone approves your point or whatever? i have 16 points and i have no idea how ah.. i dont like change it scares me....
I think you start at 10 and get one point per "thanks"
I don't see the bit on your profile for checking those who "thank" you though.
I'm on 71 and have had four posts repped.
You usually do start at ten. The amount of points you get per "thanks" depends on the thanker. If the thanker has many Reputation Points, yours will go up more than if they have few. Once you get to s certain levels (100, 200, 300, 500, 1000, etc.) you'll get more and more little green boxes next to your User Title (mine is First Team).
Another good thing about this is you can say "No Thanks" if you disagree with something (though I usually find people only use this when people are really ****ed)
To view who Repped you have to go to your UserCP (at least I assume you do, as that is how it is on other forums, I can't tell as I have no Reps :()
http://foot.ie/usercp.php
Alternately, you can click the little blue star on one of your own posts and that will tell you how many points you have, though not from how many Repped Posts or from who
Thanks. Although "First team" relates to the number of posts you have. However, over the green bar and you get "theworm is on a distinguished road", which presumably changes with 500, 1000 thanks.
Is the increase of the green bar the only way to view somebody's reputation?
How do you see how much reputation you have? (In points)
Asked and answered. Twice.
click on your own reputation star, and it should say how many points that post got as well as how many you have overall. But if you try to do it to another poster, it just starts the process of adding to their reputation.
How long are we testing out this 'Reputation' for? And if it doesn't work out, is the Thanks option still a possibility?
I'll probably leave Reputation on as it doesn't seem to be creating the same hassle as last time, but I take people's points about the usefulness of Thanks and I intend reiomplementing it. It doesn't make sense to do that before I get the Foot.ie template back though, so gimme until next week please.
I like this template!
It's... "work friendly". :D
