Waiting Listers Rejection Letter

Just got my rejection letter this morning from the FAI, thanks for your support over the last few years, you have paid for your France home tickets at this stage and thats the last competitive fixture you will get a ticket for as we are moving back to LR. Only 49 made it from the waiting list. I was 1,200 on the list, seems a shame that you build a new stadium and can only get 50 people off your waiting list scheme. I`m on the list 7 years and when we moved to CP, stopped getting tickets from my old BB source as i could not get rid of them all.

Is there any point getting on to the FAI?

Did it actually say on the letter that only 49 people made it from waiting list? That's crazy if so. Why would they put that in writing to anyone? What will happen to all these unsold vantage club seats? Will they not be redistributed?

I'll be in the same boat then. Gutted. The missus will be happy though. I have spent a lot of cash going back to 'home' games!!

Yeah, stated on the letter, said if demand was low you would be offered tickets, so going by this I can kiss goodbye to getting a ticket for Paris, Waiting Listers are pretty poor down the list according to the FAI!

Dont think theres much point in complaining tbh. Think about it. The north bucket is reduced to 2500 from stand to stand. Id imagine that all the old North Bucket BBs will be moved to the new south bucket along with the existing South bucket BB ticket holders and the new north along with some of the east or west stand will house away fans.

The FAI will be more interested in flogging their vantage seats than increasing their BB allocation. The best that you can hope for is that sales for the Vantage club stay low and they pull some of that allocation and allocate it to BBs

Very very disappointing to hear this as I assume I'll be on the rejection list too as I'm about 1200 on the WL.

I appreciate that the FAI need to sell seats, but when people have been taking tickets consistently for some absolute gash fixtures, at significantly higher prices than the old stadium, I can't help but feel a bit shortchanged by this news.
Instead of trying to flog what appears to be a dead horse in the Vantage club scheme, why not offer some of these to people on the block booking waiting list on a campaign basis? Ireland matches are my release as such from life, and the prospect of scrambling around looking for tickets in the Lansdowne etc isn't something I'll look forward too.

I mean effectively we (by we, I mean all how kept the allocation of tickets throughout the Croker period) kept the association afloat and profitable during the renovations, and now we're being cast adrift. Not impressed at all.

50,000 capacity.
10,000 premium.
5,000 away.

Leaves 35,000 for general sale.

Old block booking was max 32,000 and this included all sponsors tickets etc..,

Who is going to be sitting in the 10,000 premium level seats for FAI games and who has taken the extra general seats available.

These are the questions that need to be asked. Don't tell me for one minute that the FAI has more sponsors now in this time of recession.

How many tickets did the 49 people on the waiting list get? If it's 10 each or 20 each we need to know.

Good Point Blobbyblob, just very disappointed this morning, does anyone know how low sales of Vantage Club are, I know I got the brochure and they wanted €100 odd per month, couldn`t afford that.

Good Post Kingdom, during the Stan era we all endured terrible games but at the same time I was delighted to be getting tickets and not begging for them, and no matter how good/bad the future may be I would still be delighted to go to support Ireland, should be 1 ticket to each BB, Not muptiples which you hear people get.

It will be very hard for them to allocate those tickets to BB are BB prices. How would you feel if you were a vantage club member and the guy beside you was a BB who had paid a sizeable % less for the same seat.

Im on the WL about 8 years now but wasnt optimistic about getting any good news. Tickets for most games should be ok at LR to pick up tickets for but its the bigger games that will be the struggle.

Whats the craic going to be with the Singing Section now? Dare I say one or two of us are going to be wiped out?
Actually the more I'm thinking about this the more angry I'm getting.

No difference than anything in any walk of life, airlines seats, hotel bookings, houses, etc..,

I just hope the people in the FAI who make these decisions have a (and no offense) better business mind than yourself.

If your on the wl 8 YEARS, does anyone on here know anyone who ever got promoted to BB from the WL?

didnt think we would hear until next May next year - as has been said What about unsold vantage club

the numbers dont add up to me at all.
Think this is an attempt to spir up more interest in vantage club tickets.

Only releasing 49 to waiting listers over what will be now 3 qualifying series seems very low. i personally know 3 groups (6 tickets) who have given up their block booking in the last year.

Im guessing there will be a lot more upgraded to block booking early next summer.

the thing with the BB system is that it has been on the go since 1992 and the question would have to be asked about how many of those original block bookings are still in the same hands?

i would imagine that they have been passed on to differant punters over the years without going through the fai. i have 4 tickets under the block booking but the personnel who get the tickets has changed over the years. maybe every single fan should have their own individual number rather grouping them under one number. you could still sort it that people who want to sit together could do so

I'd say the FAI are holding onto the extra 3/4000 tickets and will put them on general sale on a match per match basis. It allows them to hold onto a large number of tickets for "suits" and "sponsors" for the "bigger" games and then put these same tickets on general sale for the "smaller" games.

I can believe the numbers aren't there to convert the waiting list into block bookings.

However as has been pointed out there are still thousands of unsold vantage club seats. These won't be given as block bookings.

If the Vantage Club sells out then that's it.

However if it doesn't sellout (likely imo) then the tickets will be sold on a match by match basis. You would have to assume that the waiting list would be offered these or more likely the seats of sponsors and council members temporarily moved to the Vantage club.

I can only imagine the uproar (in the press) from the Rugby fraternity when they move back to Lansdowne.

The Rugby crowd have already sold ALL their seats for the new Lansdowne. Their 'vantage' club is already over subscribed.

Think the idea of every fan haviong their own number makes much more sense than the current situation where some indvividuals get a lot of tickets under the one booking and can then distribute as they see fit (even to the extent that someone on this forum said recently there were BB tickets for the play offs available on eBay).

I've said it before and I'll say it again, foot.ie and other 'fan centered' forums have been facilitating the easy transfer of tickets for years from block bookers to others ensuring the block booker is not out of pocket and they keep their allocation.s

Gutted to hear this. I am 353 on the WL and thought there was a good chance of getting on the BB scheme.

Where are ye getting your waiting list number? I've been on that years and haven't a clue where I am on it.

Also, imagine if we don't get to the World Cup and we have a home friendly. If I'm not one of the lucky 49 (very specific number I must add) then I wouldn't be too inclined to throw my money where there is no real long-term reward for it.

you would think that there would have been more dropping out because of the economic climate.

Oh well I'm grateful I've got to see more home games over the last two/three years. I'll just have to start adding my name to the ticket waiting list on this site for the next campaign.

Very good point BT. The churn of people going on and off of the BB list was quiet high up to about 5 years ago. Now its seems to have slowed to a trickle and messageboards would be the likely contributor.

One other point to consider is that in moving to croke park a lot of BBs would have increased the number of tickets theyve been taking per game because of the increased capacity and availability. The FAI figures may be based on the current BBs allocation in CP.

no, BBs were given the opportunity to increase their allocation but it was on a clear understanding that it would go back to Lansdowne levels upon our return there.

i think the FAI may be playing a bit of a game here. they badly need to shift their vantage club tickets and they know that at least some of those who cant get a block booking may take up some of those premium seats. i dont believe we have more than 50,000 fans that are really that bothered so hopefully most will be sorted by the time

Good point Jbyrne, but it's a dangerous game to play in the current economic climate, which looks like to deteriorate further after Christmas. The vantage club was a bad, Celtic tiger-driven idea, they might as well hold their hands up now and say it. But, I can't see them exporting those seats to waiting listers.

I never said they wont sell them to BB's but it certainly wont be on the same terms as the other BBs tickets i.e. should they realise they will have 5k unsold vantage level tickets per game, im sure they will offer a "special package" to BBs. The rates wont be as high as the vantage club but they will be def be more expenisve than your standard BB.

In other words I agree with what gspain has suggested......

In fairness the prices of those tickets made sure your average fan never had any realistic prospect of purchasing. Even if you paid a sizeable portion over the odds for every match ticket, you still would not incur the total price of the vantage club ticket.

Then the fai came out with this "special" scheme for fans of irish football which was a joke in fairness. The same overall package but just allowed you to pay monthly.

From a corporate perspective, the rugby is generally more appealing plus all the games are at the wkd, which is again more attractive for entertaining clients etc. The new LR is def too small from the IRFUs point of view.

A bit off topic, but I really hope they don't give the N Bucket to away fans. We should have both ends for atmosphere and stick the away fans up in a corner like we use to do.

I see in the LR thread, someone form the LR Redevelopement company, saying they have not decided if they are going to put seats into the restricted view areas, surely the FAI could insist on this and offer these seats to the Waiting Listers.

The waiting list were always ahead of the extra tickets given to bbers in Croke Park.

All bbers are gone back to old Lansdowne levels.

I'd recommend staying on the waiting list as you'll most likely be offered tickets going forward unless the Vantage club sells well.

I don't think there has been a significant number of people taken off the WL since the China friendly in 2005.

I got the PFO letter as well, thing is im around 1200 too, and i dont actually know anyone below that number :D

1886 out of over 6,000 according to the ticket office a few weeks back, one thing if the whole thing is a closed shop, how do the fai get young people to start going to games?

You would imagine the ticket office have enough on their plate at the moment without sending out these letters. Plenty of time for that yet.

thats true, if you look at the fai website, they have just launched a new site for the selling of tickets for Aviva Vantage scheme.
