anyone know how connor clifford is progressing at chelsea?
He's worked his way into the reserves AFAIK.
There was a feature on him in the Indo last week, looks like there's only an extract from it online though....

Heard he was training with the first team last week.
He clattered in to Drogba who as usual had moan and a dive. Fat Frank said well done to Conor.
Called into the U21 squad for the game against Switzerland on tuesday: http://www.fai.ie/index.php?option=c...id=3&Itemid=11
seems to have put in a good stint for the reservers against the hammers:

Great strike.
cracking strike, if he was standing a few yards to the right Van Basten would have been proud of it!
nice one DC
Yeah.. super goal, I think it's from last season. He's seems to be doing well for the reserves this season and has scored two absolute screamers in his last two games

Quote:
Conor Clifford
The captain and scorer of the goal of the cup run - a 35-yard screamer at Forest. Conor is an energetic force in midfield and although his committed tackling resulted in injury in the semi-final second leg, the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international, who also scored the winner at home to Portsmouth in round five, should be fit for the Final. Youth Cup highlight: Beating Blackburn away, it was a tough, physical game and it was great to get past them after Kaby was sent off. It was great to win that game.
Funniest moment on route to Final: Ben Sampayo in training. We were all running backwards and he fell over the bounce board and then got stuck in it, that'll stand out for a long time.
Playing at Stamford Bridge: That was another highlight, it was brilliant and a dream come true. I'm a Chelsea fan myself. My uncle was a mad fan for years and got me into it, and he was there for the Portsmouth game when I scored so it was brilliant.
If you weren't in football: Fireman, I don't know why but it springs to mind.
Professional most admired: Frank Lampard. He's my favourite player and my dad used to show me DVDs of him.
One of our great hopes for the future, lets hope its genuine!
First leg of the Youth Cup finished 1-1, Clifford had to come off in the second half, Williams played the full game

Fair play to Connor, plenty of Irish representation in those line-up's as well. I'm heard nothing but good things about Daniel Devine - but that's partly because his cousin is my housemate. Might go along to the second leg of this.
Scored the winner in the second leg to lift the FA Youth Cup as captain.

Goal on 20:45, cracking strike, reminds me a lot of Fat Frank
I really don't understand the point of Chelsea TV. Who wants to watch a match where the commentators are so obviously fans of one team?
Also why is the FA broadcasting Chelsea TV footage in the first place? You'd think they could at least get some neutral commentary on the highlights package for their own tournament.
Great goals though.
Sky used to always have the FA youth cup final live, dont know why they stopped. And you are right Charlie, the biased commentary is brutal.I used to have MUTV for a while but got so sick of Paddy Crerand talkin about every United reserve and youth team player as the next Maradonna that I got rid of it after a couple of months
Interview with Clifford from last night's Off The Ball on the listenback service: http://media.newstalk.ie/listenback
Click Off The Ball -> Wednesday 5th May 2010 -> Part 3
Interview starts just after 32 minutes
Yea but I don't see anyplace where they have previous days shows up
Edit: I'm in the US right now so it might not be available here, dunno
are you clicking "Visit Show Page"? That brings you to the show's page on the NewsTalk website
It's a little confusing actually, you have to click either the photo of the presenter (Eoin McDevitt) or the name of the show itself in the list of shows
ahhh! penny dropped :) I had to click yer man's head
That's the exact point of In house TV channels. Have you ever heard fat Trevor Welch commentate when United are on TV3? Now that is nauseating. Or listened that that smug C*** Michael Mcmullen on Today fm?
Getting back to Clifford. Very high hopes for him at Chelsea. Him and the boy McEachran are the two players earmaarked as future first teamers. Forget dancers like Kakuta these two have real substance. I notice f*** all of a reaction to Clifford's achievements in the press this week. He was the first Irishman to captain a winning side in the FA Youth Cup and not a squeak in the media and the wiing goalscorer to boot. If he were at United or Liverpool there's have been double paged spreads in the papers hailing.
Keep up the good work kid! Got a great future in the game and it can only be good for Ireland as well. Apparently he has turned Magney's head at Chelsea too - looks like he's close to declaring for the Republic.
Magnay hasn't played for the RoI U-21 team. He has one cap for the NI U-21 side.
In any event he'll have plenty of time to think about the situation on the sidelines, as he has an injury which is basically Terry Dixon's and Meyler's combined (cruciate and kneecap).
