I hate the sight of empty seats in league of ireland games, sadly a problem which seems to affect most teas in this country.
Pointless threads.
Seriously though, at least those "knacker kids" are out watching their local team. Fair play to them. If people go to LOI games they I don't mind if they sit, lie, kneel or stand on anything, so long as they're there.
well yeah but i think thats more a hatred of irish sporting culture, than what goes on in the league itself.
The fact that we're second from bottom.
Ryan Guy's hair.
Dublin refs. They ruin everything, so they do.
Paul Doolin.
I sometimes lose bets on it.
The way the evening sun gets in my eyes at the Carlisle Grounds.
Infrequent availability of 'tang at LOI grounds.
I'll think of more later.
The idiots who try to run it.
Being the 2nd worst team in the country.
The eejit in the stand who says "Summer football, wha'?" at the first hint of rain, even in mid-November.
That our most potent attacking weapon in the first series of games was creeping a couple of yards at throw-ins.
However, being in the league in any form is fantastic so I come back.
Cork City messing up when every other club, though probably in just as grave financial difficulties, keep their problems secret.
Take Galway for instance: Running out of cash, attendances way down, and low and behold some "UK consortium" express an interest in buying the club. So the whole financial crisis going on in Galway is bypassed straight into new ownership and no-one outside the LOI finds out about their financial difficulty.
Perhaps the worst??
The seats in the main stand at Richmond .......
Otherwise I got nothing: I love it all:D
The other clubs.
Shower of ****s.
Isn't this what most of the threads on foot are about lately?
But never-the-less, here's my two cents:
Ryan Guy
That is all. ;)
definitely the refs and linesmen and if i had my way i would run the 4th official as all they do is cause trouble on the sideline. they should be there to assist in substitutions and holding up added time board and nothing else. all they do is wind managers and fans up. the league will never prosper until something done by the standard of officiating matches !!!
Shels fans moaning. :)
Soulless franchises.
Whats wrong with Ryan Guy and the seats at Richmond?
I hate Rovers fans who think they are not homeless anymore because they rent off the council instead of a club
The standard of football!
Some LOI fans who bring the whole elitist attitude to the fore when really all they are doing is turning people away from attending games.
Thats also nonsense by the way. It's just another excuse for people to use for not going to LoI. If there was a LoI game being played in their back garden, they'd pull their curtains. They'll never go to LoI games under any circumstances but the "elitist" thing is a another nice, cushy excuse and one that rarely gets argued.
Believe it's an excuse if you like but just look at the attendances at the LOI games. Ask yourself why they would pull their curtains . I would pull my curtains if there is something going on out there that I find no interest in and am being led to believe that it is being attended by elitists. The case for me is Rugby and the bandwagon that is Munster.
There is a big football following in this country , just look at the number of Junoir clubs and up in this country and ask yourself why this is not being tapped into. I stick by my point that there are elitists following LOI clubs who are disingenous to other football fans in this country. Even the term "barstooler" is derogatory to peolpe who are just as knowledgeable of football but choose to get there football fix from someone who provides a better product. LOI supporters and LOI clubs need to accept that it is far from providing that product and for some have the modesty to acknowledge this in their words and actions.
Just to add I am not a "barstooler", I do attend LOI games , when I get time, primarily Sligo Rovers and Limerick games , both clubs with an elitist attitude among some of their fans.
My football fix is mostly got from my local junior league which year by year is improving in all aspects and whose attendances are growing.
Stop being a drama queen, First. If you don't attend football matches regularly it's because you're too lazy or you don't like or appreciate football, full stop. It has nothing to do with perceived "elitism." Jesus Christ.
The lack of availability of Gin.
The standard of referees.
That's utter nonsense, so people aren't going to games because they're afraid someone might ask them to name the number nine? Or to recite the 1969 cup-winning starting lineup? Or ask them why they haven't seen them around these parts before? "Led to believe that it is being attended by elitists??????!!!"
Seriously, I'm not trying to have a go at you personally but what you've just posted is one of those annoying, ill-informed, infuriatingly stupid posts that crops up on "LOI elitism," every now and then. Could you please back this claim up with an example of when you were oppressed by a LOI fan's elitism at a game? It reminds me of the scene from Holy Grail:
Dennis: Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I'm being repressed!
King Arthur: Bloody peasant!
Dennis: Oh, what a giveaway! Did you hear that? Did you hear that, eh? That's what I'm on about! Did you see him repressing me? You saw him, Didn't you?
As others have noted, the reason people don't go to games is because they're a bunch of easily-led, event junkies buying into a product for it's loud noises and sparkly graphics because everyone else does. There are many poor excuses for not going but 'elitism' isn't just a poor excuse, it's not a excuse at all. "Just as knowledgeable about football-" you must be joking!
