Should be an interesting trip. Back in time for happy hour in 'Players' :)
Is there many planning on going to this. Im planning to make this my first away Limerick match.
I'm probably going to head up with with my crew.
I hear the King's Head is the sh*t. Head on to GPO after for a well daycent time after!
Ya i'll probably head up myself. Haven't been to Terryland in a few years.
Mervue seem to have improved and although Limerick improved last Friday goals are still lacking. A close one i think. Mervue 1-2 Limerick :ball:
Limited seats left on Supporters Club bus. Leave me a Private Message if interested in travelling on the bus.
Should be a close one, but still think we will beat them. If I can get out of a college thing, I'll also be driving up and making this my first away match.
Mervue 6 - 11 Limerick :)
Should be an excellent trip actually. I know we have a 37 seater all most full, according to Mr. Chairman, there's a loada cars leaving from Shannon and a few other cars leaving from various destinations. So, if you want a good day out, I recommend it. But if you want the best laugh, try get on the bus, still a few spaces left, so text your name to 0857408289.. Looking forward to seeing ye in Terryland. :D
Ya a few of us are probably going to drive up after the Lions match. Should be good trip, nice and handy and the weather is to stay nice.
Lads if ye are heading to terryland tomorrow leave early as traffic will be crazy in galway tomorrow as a crowd of over 200,000 is expected in galway for the volvo ocean race

Probably one of the most embarrassing results and performances in our seventy plus year history. Mervue were a hoof ball team so we decided to respond with hoof ball. We can blame the beach of a pitch or the semi retarded ref Mr O’Kelly of Tullamore, but we where shocking and didn’t deserve anything from this game. This result is right up there with the hammering we took in Kilkenny some years ago. And playing a 4 5 1 against….Mervue no not real Madrid but Mervue. season over lets concentrate with sorting ourselves off the pitch and hope this lot perform somewhat at home at least.
Jesus thats a shock, should be easily beating teams like this, the 4-5-1 seems to the favoured formation of Scully, who was the lone striker
season over lets concentrate with sorting ourselves off the pitch and hope this lot perform somewhat at home at least.[/quote]
Think thats a bit much to say the season is over, what happened in this match makes no difference, when the season started our best hope was to finish in the top 5 and one match does not change that,i was there and and some of things that some supporters were shouting at the players was disgraceful, i understand their frustration but to take it out on the players when there was a half an hour left in the game did'nt help their confidence.
And hearing "F****t! F****t! F****t!" :o being shouted at the Mervue Utd player (apparently in order to try to get him to hurry up) while he was waiting for the referee's permission to take a corner was actually more embarrassing than anything else. The ref was waiting for Danno to tie his lace at the time.
If people are going to the trouble of travelling all over the country to follow a team, they really should pay attention to what's happening on the pitch!
It was a fcuking disgrace no matter what way you look at it, with the exeption of Jason and Tommy the rest didnt even look bothered.
Disgusted.
was that you shouting abuse
would you swap it for Jackman you rowdy fecker
and don't forget Annie Fitz:p:p:p
Unfortunatly this result will do nothing to increase attendances. It will be the same faces week in week out.The revue of the game makes it out to be woeful and its dissapointing coming on the back of such a good display against UCD.
hardly the worst result in our history, however given mervue are marginally better than kildare puts our ....efforts... in to context.i think our sugar daddy will want more than that for his investment.for anyone to suggest a place in the top 5 this season should be our aim or settled for given the squad we have is seriously lacking ambition.
I was at this gama as a mate of mine plays for mervue (centre half damien o'rourke)..incidently a player who was on limericks books last year but kerley never played him....anyway...as we walked in saturday night the buzz of the limerick fans was great drum was pounding ,songs were good/funny. it looked like it was gonna be a good night...but the singing pretty much stopped after 20 mins...and ya mervue dont have many home fans but you have to remember...galway has two league of ireland teams, this is mervue's first season and they are not playing on their home pitch. getting a strong fan base takes time.
anyway back to the match...thought it was a poor game to be honest tommy at the back for limerick was good and looked like he wanted to win, the rest of them didn't seem bothered. the young fella who came on for mervue with the red hair was the best player on the park....wasn't afraid to run witrh the ball, he was a joy to watch in an otherwise drab game
Awful match. My first away match could be my last after that embarrassing performance. Great atmosphere by Limerick fans - no support whatsoever from Mervue and still could not motivate the team. Worst performance I've ever seen after the best one last week!! Strange. Cummins was terrible up front but in reality they all were bar maybe Jason Hughes and Barratt who always seemed to be putting that bit extra in! Season over now, although in reality it never began!
If we all take the view of season over now how do we expect to get more people up to watch limerick. Why would anyone bother coming up if the fans that are already going think the season is over. If we where to beat Shels everyone is going to say our season is back on track. Way to early to say the season is over now. I agree though it was a shocking performance, some people shouting abuse at our own players didn't help either or shouting abuse at the ref for no reason (blatant fouls by Limerick that he was getting abuse for giving freekicks for). I understand people being angry after travelling up and watching such a poor game but i know if i was on the pitch playing and was getting abuse i would feel like giving up. The players need encouragement not abuse.
The shop and the Chipper vans etc were all out in Salthill and the Docks for the Ocean Race. There was 200,000 ppl out there this weekend as someone said and only 200 at that game.I agree they should have had one shop though.Terryland usually has at least one shop, chipper van and a few port-o-loos for Galway Utd matches.
As someone also pointed out,its Mervue's first season, they were amoung the favourites to go down but are nicely in Mid-Table.They are surprising other teams and any team coming to play them should NOT expect to beat them.
I would like to question, however, what the referee was thinking by not adding at least 10 minutes added time at the end of the first half.
However, with all due respect, the facilities for a cuppa and a loo were decent enough upstairs. Those who wanted it badly enough made the venture upstairs.
Although the facilities were bad, Brendan Daly was worse. Shocking, and will surely be let go. If anyone agrees, Brendan is better centre mid, and to be honest, he's not even that good there, so what hope does he have a right back. Obviously a season isn't over, obviously not. But yet again, where do we see our potential lying? Has to be in the transfer market I would think. Lets see who he attempts to bring in. Shane Clarke was mentioned in another thread. Hopefully he can pull a few strings with a few unsettled players from Dublin clubs. Otherwise, season does look extremely glum. Players have to realise what they're playing for, this club has a proud history, and they'd want to realise that they're disgracing the club. Maybe disgrcing is a bit harsh, becasue some try I suppose. Jason would want to stop thinking about Birmingham, Cummins would want to realise he won't just walk into scoring. Dano as always, played well enough, as did Tommy. Need Paddy back, as do we need JT, Wayne when he gets fit, must slot in centre mid, and surely we can drop this 4-5-1 rubbish. We would seriously want to be beating Athlone next week, leave us in a good mindframe for Shels. I'm sure Scully has murdered one or two already for that "display" against Mervue.
He would want to have...i was sitting behind him in the stand and he was fuming...and rightly so.
I went in last year to Jackman and saw limerick beaten by Shels 3-0 but the difference is it looked like the players that night WANTED to play and were proud to play...on saturday it was a more a case of showing up and putting on a jersey...ive been playing junior soccer in limerick for 20 years and if i got a sniff of playing league of Ireland i can tell you i would give 100% every time...its disgraceful that players dont realise that they are in a privilaged position
Brendan Daly did have a poor game but i thought some people getting on his back by shouting abuse at him about it was worse. He's no centre midfielder (he seemed to have been but there purely to break things up while tommy was getting back to full fitness at the start of the season). Over all last season I thought he did very well at right full. Some players had shockers and some didn't on Saturday. Thats sport! Now onto the next match where they can try make up for it with a win and push on against Shels and St. Pats :ball:
