Microsoft Word 2000
I closed a Word doc earlier on and opened another one and ALL the toolbars had vanished.
I have been fiddling around with it for ages, I've shut it down and loaded it up again, I've tried EVERYTHING but I can't seem to get my toolbars back.
Any suggestions???

Go to 'View' and then go down to toolbars
that toolbar isn't there either.
i can't click file - view - edit - tables - help etc
any other ideas?
what do i see: Document 1 Microsoft Word on topleft. the blue taskbar across the top. no menus at all not even file - edit etc.
right clicking on top doesn't work

Try Alt-V then alt-T and that should get up the toolbar menu
that doesn't work either.

Press F1 - should bring up the help menu?
I re-installed Word.
Absolutely no difference whatsoever.

throw the computer out the window and go for a pint
use a pen and notepaper instead of word :)
get someone else to do it while your having your pint
Any chance you've dragged the toolbar to the side or the bottom of the screen?

i still think going for a pint is the best option

a friend of mine who knows a fair bit about computers had a look at it and couldn't figure out whats wrong with it.
none of the toolbars are there and they ain't hiding anywhere.
very few shortcuts work either e.g. alt V.
i re-installed it and that made no difference.
it's driving me mad now!

Search for *.doc ..... any documents saved already should keep the settings that they always had.
Is it the only programme that is acting funny, have you had a look at Excel and Power Point (if you have them installed) .... try opening Wordpad and opening *.doc from there. Try opening Outlook (express) and opening a *.doc from there.
What you need to do is get into tools - options and adjust setting in there.
What version of Word is it and what version of Windows have you got ?
Are you sure it aint full screen ..... if it is there should be a floating toolbar (no at the top) somewhere on the screen with "close full screen" button to return to original view.
Did you try uninstalling it and reinstalling it (as opposed to installing over the top again)
sorry i didn't reply, i was off having a pint, yes yes what to do, its hard question to answer but i will stick with my first idea of having a pint.

it absolutely ain't full screen or floating toolbars.
i uninstalled office 2000 and reinstalled it and no difference.

toolbars on top seem to be gone.
the alt v shortcut doesn't work.
i can type text, format text and so on - right click on page and use that menu but it is very awkward not having the toolbars on top.

cannot right click where toolbars used to be.
it seems to be ok except for the toolbars.
i've tried everything!!
Have you tried system recovery to a date when the toolbars were still there?
Lately I had huge problems with my computer, it got worse from day to day until nothing worked properly at all. It nearly drove me crazy. In the end the problem was solved by closing down the firewall (ZoneAlarm). :rolleyes:
