Does anyone know what the official title of the League of Ireland is for 2009? If you had a choice what would you title it?
Its the League Of Ireland
Is that confirmed? I thought it might be The FAI League of Ireland.
I heard they were calling it Dave!
Doolin was still calling it the eircom League in his interviews last week. Also, eircom is still on the official league website. If they aren't sponsoring the league anymore why don't the FAI tell people to step using their name and allowing them free advertising?
i heard there calling it the EPL (eire premier league but just use the abreviation) and see if the barstoolers will notice there in ireland
They should call it Mazumdar.
Nah - they're actually calling it "The Contrabulous Fabtraption of Master Jonathon P. Delaney"
The tbc league.
How about "The Jokeshop"
IMO It is and always will be the League of Ireland or prehaps FAI League of Ireland, It get on my nerves when it was called Eircom League. How many english people call their top league The Barclays Premiership, or Italians call theirs Serie A Telecom Italia Mobile. Most news channels don't even use these names
The Astericks League?
"Ultimate Glenroe" League of Ireland the soap opera of World Football.
Biddy and Miley the new promotions officers.
I thought Boylesports were sponsoring the league this season?
Did the FAI not have a plan when they took over 2 years ago that when it went back to a 10 team division it would be known as the Irish Premiership of something like that??
As far as I am concerned it is THE League, and that is what I will always refer to it as
The National Association Football League of Ireland
Or The NAFLI for short
I think they backed down on the term "Premiership" after people gave out about it. They changed their minds to it only being a working title, which they quietly dropped.
Anyway, with the Irish League having adopted the premiership thing it would just get silly and confusing.
Perfectly suitable so Mr A.
mac Donald's league of Irelandhttp://www.mediabistro.com/agencyspy.../mcdonalds.jpg with him on the side of the jersey:D
Even given the recession it would be very disappointing if the FAI couldn't get a title sponsor for the league for 2009
i would have absolutely no problem with it going back to the "Pat Grace's Famous Fried Chicken League of Ireland", if Pat is still frying chicken for a living.
Yes paudie, but you won't use the sponsor's name so at the momen a decision you will never make and one you wont use means your crying doesn't actually count.
I know shamrock rovers and Cork City and Drogheda utd. fans have the High Court still in mind. So THE BAR Council is an appropiate sponsor...

They have a volontary Assistance scheme too
http://www.lawlibrary.ie/viewdoc.asp?DocID=542&m=f
What is the ‘Voluntary Assistance’ scheme?
Under our ‘Voluntary Assistance’ scheme, barristers provide services directly to non-government organisations working with members of the community who cannot afford legal services."
I realise Volontary maybe alien, legal termology to many supporters but really its nothing to be afraid of. You should be worried if you didn't know of the scheme already.
The Deducted Points League
The Revenue Commissioners League
It should be called The Football League, so that RTE would have no choice but to use the term, instead of steadfastly calling it sacair.
It really shows how well the FAI is promoting the 2009 League of Ireland when at this point a number of fans don't know for sure what the official title is. Not very encouraging. I wonder if I sent an email to the FAI would it take a 3 man committee to 'appoint the right name'?:D
By the way I like some of the alternate names people are coming up with - but don't give up the day jobs.
