Anybody know when they are out ?
I think was January last year
Licences are to be decided in February I think so the fixtures will have to wait on that anyway.
I emailed the FAI and got the reponse below, so only proposed dates as yet
---------------------------
Dear Will
Thank you for your email. The 2009 Season has been proposed to begin around the 6th March, although that has not been confirmed. The Fixtures are due to be released at the end of January, but again a release date has not been confirmed. If you would like to contact our office at the end of the month I am sure we will have more information for you then.
Thank you
in other words:
You will be lucky to see the fixtures out before the season starts. This year we have decided to go for a novelty "turn up at a random ground" where you turn up at whichever LOI ground you like on the 6th March in hope of seeing your own team.
Thanks.
Tim
If licences are to be confirmed around 31st Jan then how can they have the fixtures out before that?
Not very encouraging is it?
Any news yet on where Mervue are going to play?
Deadline to get licencing issues in order is 31 January. It'll probably take another week or two to give out licences.
According to the Kildare County website club will learn the results of their licence applications on Feburary the 18th so any fixture lists before that date would be provisional I would imagine

Kildare County hhave applied for a first division licence BTW because the FAI advised them to do so

Just looking in work diary from last year, they were out the last week in January.
Will there still be a mid-season break this year?
Assume so. It's for players' holidays, not for international tournaments.
Which is why, shortly afterwards, you get mid-week games so players play two games for the price of one.
Crazy talk not sure how warm it gets in other parts of the country but those two weeks are piping hot at home. Its the middle of the summer guys for god's sake temps can get to the mid 20's.
Now you've really lost me?!
Dundalk are rumoured to be playing Bohs in the opening game(televised too) according to extratime.ie
From this article:Quote:
Fixture lists are due to be released on Friday, February 20.

Only 2 weeks before the satart of the season?
What an absolute joke if that's true.
excatly one year since they were announced today
important dates for new season here

They still have that damn mid-season break. Grr.
Thats 2 weeks before the start of the season as has been pointed out. However if club(s) fail in their Licence application which probably will happen and appeal it then the fixture date will be pushed back again.
Same sh*t different year-JOKE:mad:
know a little off topic but when do the squad lists have to be in. Is it before the licensing deadline or sometime after
I think the start of the season should be pushed back and the transfer window allowed to remain open longer. So many clubs are unsure of what division they'll be in that it's impossible to do any proper planning.
well its hardly Harps fault, they were relegated fairly, however because of the incompetence of other clubs they may end up back in the premier with an amatuer team. The FAI should speed this process up and make it clear who will be in the premier, to make it an even starting point for everyone. Its hardly going to be fair promoting harps AFTER the transfer window is closed.
Dont see any reason to extend the start of the season though, its been a pretty long close season as it is. Most team will have started training and arranging friendlies based on the 4th March start date. Also budgets will be based on the real money starting to come in then.
Proper planning is nothing to do with it. The best run clubs in the land still won't know for definite which licence they will receive until after the transfer window closes. We all knows there are some clubs that 'know' which league they will be playing in, but there's probably a half dozen middle ground ones that *could* go either way. It happened Waterford when they were invited into the Premier after compiling a first division squad. Surely it would make a lot more sense to have the licencing sorted before the window closes.

What's the odds on the season opener being Rovers (first league match in Tallaght) against Bohs, with RTE to broadcast live.
Bohs Vs Dundalk is being televised live on the 6th March.
Tallaght wont be ready in time for the season start - the floodlights are only due to be completed on 6th March. And then there will have to be a few weeks trials etc., before a League game can be played there.
Rovers first few 'home' games wll be in Tolka
