Hope the move works out for him.
Transfers from the LoI to England have been very hit and miss. Until there's a greater trend of success, I doubt any player will command a (final) fee in 7 figures.
That money is brutal. LOI have to get a hold of this and sort it out. All other European leagues command and rely on more money, we have to do the same.
How much was the sell on clause does anyone know?
500k seems to the upper level at the moment. Even with the O'Donovan & Bennet deals not sure how much was up front. It is in the sellers interest to inflate the price as much as possible as means better chance of higher price for next player.
E350k would be about 300k sterling as exchange rate has changed.
Still would have liked to see him go for more money.
They should have a clause where Pat's get more money if he earns a few caps. After his move to England I expect him to be in the Irish squad before too long. (He should be there already, obviously).
final fee of 600k isnt bad. I wouldve tried holding out for a final figure around the 800k mark but i suppose they cant risk having clubs pull out of the deal because the money is needed
To be honest, if United are to get €370,000 for Jay O'Shea, I would have thought Fahey would have been worth more than €600,000, but then again he has had one unsuccessful stint over there, so maybe its a fair price
600k with ad ons and a sell on clause (presuming there is one) is not a bad deal. He probably is worth more but as others have said Pats need the money and Fahey really wanted to move.
Does any one reckon now that he will be playing in england he will get a call off trap?
Pat's should have shown a bit of backbone instead of accepting his departure as a fait accompli. He has two years on his contract and he's not on astronomical money. You'd swear he'd forgotten he was a washed up p1sshead with no future when Pat's dragged him out of the gutter (both times.)
I think its because most of us expect him to be back soon enough anyway...
hes a long way off thinking about ireland caps lads. lets see how he gets on first. would love to see him get in the team and do well at birmingham.

Done Deal. Farewell Keith!
Good luck to him, quality LOI player. Hopefully he can make the step-up
I am really hoping he does well. I hope to god he isn't a one goal wonder. He has been around the block now, matured a bit and has a great opportunity to progress. And if he does it all reflects well on the LOI and it would be getting us closer to commanding proper money for player we are investing in and developing.
While I hope & expect Fahey to do well I think it is a fair price for him coming out of Ireland. There has been Kevin Doyle, how many other players have been under-valued when sold to England based on form shown in our league, Alan Bennett? Roy O'Donovan? Dave Mooney?
The only one i can think of is Daryl Murphy but McCarthy signed Michael Kightly for 20k so I do not feel it was exploitation of the LOI just an example of McCarthy's best quality, signing unknowns & getting the best out of them
The truth is we are at best a league 1 standard & considered as much therefore not too many sides will be willing to pay more than 600k for a player who has not done anything in the top 2 divisions in England
Signed a 3 and a half year deal today
Best of luck to him. Lit up the 08 season with his play, which was a pleasure to watch (most of the time :p).
