Lucozade
Capital funding for the Premier for the next six years; nothing for the First Division. Probably at the request of the sponsor (which I assume is Lucozade), but the league can't advance properly if the First Division gets continually ignored. Especially as there's going to be a few former big clubs in there soon.
Woo hoo, new dug outs for the Premier Division teams over six years. That'll be marvellous. I suppose they get another extra few cases of free Lucozade Sport as well?.

Agree realise that both divisions have to improve and obvious to focus on premier first but the FAI cannot let the gap between premier and first get to big otherwise teams who get promoted will have very little chance of staying up and teams that come down will go back up to easily
John Delaney really shouldn't be allowed continue.
Fran Gavin runs the league
Any connection to MNS' refusal to carry any Division 1 football this season is purely coincidental.
This is hardly a replacement for eircom though? Still room for a main sponsor.
All I can see they're oing is buying ad space and lobbing out more drinks to all clubs, and putting in dugouts for the premier sides.
F.A.I don't care too much for 1st division teams. Once they have the top teams from Dublin, Cork City, Derry City and a team from the west they will be happy. :D
Don't get overly excited.
When they refers to capital funding, they are talking about new dug-outs for goodness sake. Have First Division clubs not already got dug-outs?
The Bowl got new dug outs last winter so we'll be OK.
Exactly what the league has been crying out for over the years, new dugouts. I tried to convince a couple of barstoolers to come to a match recently. They said, "are you mad, have you seen the state of the dugouts in League of Ireland"
:D:D:D...very funny Seand.......a bot of a joke this "sponsoship"....Delaney clutching at straws methinks!!
I assume there's money in this too, not just Lucozade and dug-outs?
Only thing mentioned on the news was the capital grants, so there's possibly no money. Lucozade erect walk in advertising shelters, basically.
The article says something about a commitment to buy up advertising hoardings in all grounds too. I assume this isn't going to be the main title sponsorship deal. Otherwise it's not looking too good.
Its a good start. The free lucozde sport for the teams. I think it was something like 16 cases per month this season so that saves money for clubs in terms of looking after the team
Taking a couple of signs in a ground is worth at least €1500 to the club as they will pay market price.
Works out probably the guts of 6k a season per club. Thats possibly a tenth of what some clubs will take in as sponsorship next season with the economic downturn
Have heard on the grapevine that there are two possibly three more deals to be announced in the coming weeks that will bring more money into clubs
Agree totally the right way forward in the current circumstances. I don't know how many on here are involved getting their team sponsorship for the coming season but take it from me their isn't a lot of money going to be given away by companies. Signage renewals will even be a problem.
Delaney said yesterday the deal was worth 100k to the league, in cash, dugouts, advertising, and product
He also said that they hoped to announce 2 or 3 more sponsership deals in the coming weeks
I'm glad there won't be a title sponsor to be honest.. I'm looking forward to it being called the League of Ireland rather than the **insert sponsor here** League for a change.
