Where are all the clowns doubting him after the unlucky draws against Shels and W'ford?
With the squad we have Pat is doing a excellent job.

Spot on Neil.
Our performances / results this season have been excellent against the "Top Clubs":
- vs Bohs - W 1, D1, L1 - even split
- vs Shels - W0, D3, L0 - even split
- vs SPA - W1, D2, L1 - even split
- vs Longford - W3, D0, L0 - enough said
- vs Homeless - W2, D0, L1 - City ahead
Once we can get a handle on the minnows like Waterford, Derry, and the likes and learn from this this year we will be a force next year.
For a transition year this has been a success.
also 2 wins away against 2 of the "big dublin" 4
pats away and
rovers away:D
I personally wouldn't say Pat has done an excellant job. He's done what was expected and better has to come next season.
Nice one, we're a big club!!!???!!!
Bring on the Derry minnows tonight....
What about the contribution of Noel O'Connor? I believe he's responsible for a lot on the training field. How do the Cork fans perceive him?Quote:

Totally agree, I was just about to post something very similar Neil.Quote:

All the people who were critisising him recently are very quiet now!
Pat Dolan's Rebel Army.:)
U seem to forget that you were ranting and raving even more than me after the Shels game, so stop this holier than thou attitude Colm.Quote:

I had lost faith for a bit, but that was out of frustration of stupid tactics and throwing away winning oppurtunities. If we had won those matches, which we should have, we would be in a afr more better place now.
However, i never shouted Dolan out or anything, i just wasnt afraid to let my feelings be known, as certain ppl on this thread are.
A bit of squad strengthening and we will storm the league next season.
The general feeling on Leeside - and I'm open to correction here - is that O'Connor is tall... :DQuote:

Seriously, he's doing de biz and merits a share of the praise.
Donie
I'm one of the "clowns" who gets p*ssed off with Dolans tactics, and here I am. Great result, am absolutely over the moon, and all that, but it doesn't change the fact that we sit back and let teams come at us, instead of trying to build on our advantage.Quote:

The "unlucky draws" would have been wins if we had stuck at it and kept the ball from the opposition.
Nice to see Rico saying that we are still in with a shout for the title. Pity about the appalling attempt at a highigts show again though. 2 City games, no goals and one not even mentioned.......
One way of looking at it is that they sit back.
Another is that there are some good teams in the eL and with our depleted squad we are doing well to hold them for so long.
Depleted Squad ?Quote:

Who are we missing apart from JOF ?
CPOB wasn't getting a game anyway and neither was Conor ?
Thats a very defeatist attitude.
Do you not think we are good enough to beat these teams ?
Depleted squad. Yes.
We have 32 players BUT half of them arent anywhere near good enough to win us a league.
Being brutally honest I think we need 2 new center-midfielders (even though Greg and CTOB are playing out of their skin), a winger or two, a striker and a ball-playing center-half. Get them, get rid of the dead-wood and we'll have the league next season!
you make it sound so easy Neil!
is that all Neill:D
i kno what you are saying........dont think we need that many player tho.......a couple of midfielders...........i see doyle and jof playing up front together.....george in the middle.....need someone to play alongside him and someone for the right side...greg and colin have been playing great lately.......a bit of competition and depth in the squad is what we need most......
And who exactly was I ranting and raving about? because it sure as hell wasn't Pat Dolan. I can remember giving out like mad about Behan and K Murray and one or two other players but that was it.Quote:

The only critisism I have ever had of Dolan is his reluctance to play Benno. Other than that I have never felt the need to critisise Pat Dolan.
He's doing a great job so far.
Anyway Gary, I wasn't even refering to you when I made the original post. I was talking about a few other people who actually were muttering 'Dolan Out' "so stop this holier than thou attitude"!
With a starting 11 of
Devine
Woods
D Murray
Coughlan
Horgan
Kearney
O'Halloran
C T O'Brien
O'Callaghan
Doyle
O'Flynn
We have the makings of a very attacking side who can also defend well. We've seen how good O'Callaghan is at tracking back so I'd have no fears of putting him out on the right.
Ideally we need a Kevin Hunt or Paul Osam type for the centre of the park but should be able to compete as we are.
Hopefully we'll keep this team together for next season and add to it a little. With no Euro2004 trips needed we could enjoy a few away games in the UEFA Cup.
If we had 16 players good enough to win the league i'd be delighted. I say if we had 8 players worthy of a league winning team be doing well.Quote:

City have too many squad players at the moment.
now now Neil...we are all City fans here ;)

Lads lets not lose the run of ourselves about what a great season we have had until the season is actually over.
This season more than most I feel the title has bee there for the taking and had we not been in 'transition' we could have grasped it with both hands.
When u think of all the wins that turned into draws for us this year.
Still a couple of strong players more and we should be capable of doing the business.
Dolan was saying on Red FM on monday that if we had beaten shels in our 2 home games- 1 missed pen, and 1 injury t;ime equaliser- and hadn't conceded that late goal to waherfur at the cross, we'd be top now. thats how close we are. Its a great achievment when you consider that shels and bohs can bring the likes of geoghan, morgan, harkin or keegan off the bench, when at times, our bench has probably had less than 20 premier div starts between the lot of them!I have criticised Dolan for sitting back, and will do so again if the same thing happens, but if he learns from the mistakes he's made, we can only benefit. Lets face it- if 2 or 3 results had gone our way this year, we could be winning the league. We're so close. As for the new players debate- I reckon we need to sign a central midfielder to play alongside Greg- himself, Benno and Grady are too similar to complement each other. I reckon that could be all it takes. Maybe N****wo is that midfielder:)
Bit early to give a verdict on the season. We could uyet finish anywhere from 2nd to 5th or 6th as good bit to go in the season yet.
i agree with Pete, i don't think we can judge the success of the season until it's over.
at the moment we look good for european football next season, even if it is the inter-toto, which i would have taken at the start of the season.
would have liked a better showing in the cups (although we came close in the LC).
did we not win the munster senior cup like :DQuote:

"Champions of Munster"...classy
thats true. but if you want to win leagues, you've got to turn your luck to your advantage, not allow it even itself out over the season. I'm not saying we deserve to win the league, we're not good enough yet, but it just shows how close we are.Quote:

It DOES even itself out over a season. And it's a funny old game too...
League seasons are too long for the final table to lie - usually teams finish where they deserve to.
Me may have nicked the odd away game but same be said of some of the visitors to the cross. One definite change this season has been the away performances where we've gone from 90mins backs to the wall defending to a less desparate form of defending when we leading.
Some of the defending I've seen just about qualifies for less desparate. However there have been a few games away from the Cross when we deserved a result.
weve been inconsistant though.
droping points where, you know, teams we should have beat.
is the glass always half empty for you feen? you're very downbeat latelyQuote:

He's not downbeat, he's right. Think of all the teams we should have beaten, but only got a draw. now add up all those lost points. scary.
