Will he go and would it be a big loss?
would the board ever take note and give the man whatever he wants
he is nearly,if not more important than flynny
DONT GO GEORGIE
If George goes, i reckon City will lose alot of fans. He has to kept, give the man what he wannts.
George in.
Quote:
It is a certainty that Cork City’s chairman Brian Lennox and manager Pat Dolan will do everything within their power to keep such a crucial member of the first team squad, but it may just boil down to money at the end of the day.
Surely, if they're going to "do everything within their power to keep such a crucial member of the first team squad", they should just give him the money.
We'll never be a successful club if we always lose our best players to Shels or Bohs, if we are ever to amount to anything we will have to match what the other clubs are willing to offer.
I think Georgie is more important to us than Flynny and if we lose him it will cost us more in the long run than it would have to keep him.
i don't think there's anything new in the soccercentral piece but my tuppence on the georgie contract issue would be along the lines of: even with him at the club we may not win the league but without him we probably won't win it
info@corkcityfc.ie
Let them know what is on your mind !!
can u imagine georgie coming back to the cross with either bohs or shels
i dont think it would be an evening we would enjoy
I heard something along the lines of Shels offering him 2,000 a week plus 25k signing on fee..........
But George has said he wants to stay at the cross.....City just have to offer him a good deal....
Pay the money or risk being also rans for another few years.....We have the basis of a very stong first team and we shouldnt risk losing one its strongest members.....
I know the club has limits but surely its time to think big act big...
Georgie IN....................
georgie stays or BOARD OUT ;)
Time for City to meet the expectations of the big crowds of recent years & keep their best players. If you leave your best players leave then gonna be all the harder to get other good players to join city.
No club in the league can match $hel$ money at the moment but maybe George is just holding out for a good package & not want the club to assume he'll resign no matter what they offer.
in all fairness there is no way city could meet shels offer but then gain does anybody know what city are offering george and what does george want. hopefully a compromise can be reached.
if it was o'flynn in the simlar situation i say break the bank. i think george will stay. if he does go then he deserves all the stick he will receive.
anyway I am sure/hope all this would be sorted though as I say it would be interesting to know what figures are being mentioned.
Dunno bout that Dayglo. One thing is for certain, is that if he does leave, we will be consigning ourselves to being also rans and an ambitionless club. I dont care if George is holding a gun to their heads, give him the money he deserves, the money he needs, the money City need to give him.Quote:

If he leaves, i can imagine the crowds following City will plummet.
Just heard from a member of the squad that George has agreed a new 3 year deal and will sign it on Monday next. The deal will make him the highest paid player at the club.
Every City supporter was so encouraged by the sounds coming from the hierarchy in the club at the beginning of the season. Their vision 4 this club to be the biggest in the league with commitment to local players. dont get me wrong we are definetely moving in the right direction but its a real test now with george. He fits into everything the club could be about the first truly creative player since Patsy and how weve longed for a player like him. Board think of the Gaughans Melaughs packers etc and the money spent on them. This is the big test for us to see yere ambition and i tell you if he goes so will a lot of supporters Tie up the players we need who are committed 2 the club b4 getting others. at this stage ye must know if ye dont compete with shelbourne what that does to our morale and of course to the players left. second city mentality is created by this like ollie. weve been asked to stand by ye well now the boot is on the other foot
brilliant news
I hope this is true, great news if it is.Quote:

if this is true and its a done deal then the club should announce it 2nite and d place will go mad. fair play to both george and the club as shels were offering george those exact figures NOTL at least the club realisewhat an asset george is and are living up to their promises to make us the biggest club in eire. cant wait for 2nite
they won't announce i until the deed is done, and to be honest i'm waiting for him to have signed before i start breathing again, if it's true, it shows the club is putting money where Dolan's mouth is. it'd be great to see.
didn't a certain central midfielder verbally agree to sign a new contract at the end of last season??can anybody remind me about what happened in that situation?
Yeah I'll tell you what happened. A certain director of football couldn't be arsed to drive 80 miles down the road to get said midfielder to sign the forms because he was too busy making sure that he kept his job when Pat Dolan arrived on the scene.
just seeing that flick alone last night deserves the money
Well thats not quite true. ScumRat had said there was no need to come down, he would sign at training on Saturday, 2 days later. Gunther can't be blamed for not knowing what a dirty, lying, scummy, judas cnut the Rat is.Quote:

Patsh
We'll have to agree to disagree but what you say couldn't have happened. How do I know? Pat Dolan was appointed manager at a press conference on Friday 21st February. Reynolds agreed to sign earlier that week and Gunther was to go down and sign him up on the Wednesday 19th but for whatever reason never did. There was no training that Saturday (22). It was the close season. Dolan didn't even meet most of the players until the following week when he met them all at Rochestown Park. Training started in mid March when Dolan tool the squad to UL in Limerick.
Anyway its all academic now. Reynolds has been the looser out of the whole thing and hasn't looked anything like the player he had been last season with City.
As said, nothing has been signed and the club could be offered money from bigger clubs even if he does. If Georgey does sign it means City will def get money in some form in the next three years.
We love you Georgey cause u got white boots...
I don't think he could play for any other club could he??
Any updates here? Anyone heard has the deed been done yet?
itll be like a new signing if we keep him.
Cmon George, put us out of our misery and sign up for the forseeable future.
Is it true he signed his contract on the pitch at half-time last night?Quote:

in one simple word NO......he tore up the contract and laughed as ollie pulled one out and he signed that instead..........
...........well that was the nightmare scenario that i was dreading....in other words Peader......YES.........:D
Did anyone ever think we'd be watching city players signing contracts on the pitch at half time? It was a nice touch, having him sign it in front of the fans. Smart bit of PR.
Got almost as big a cheer from the shed as Kearney's goal.
Plus, he's signed until 2005.
That's good news for CCFC.
Yes that is good news for me liamon, thanks:D :D
I was wondering lads do any of you know what sort of money he was offered. Probably quite good, as I remember someone posting here that shels were offering him 2k a week plus signing on fee. Good to see you keeping your big names as it keeps your squad strong therefore making the league more competitive.
absolutly delighted with that news at least they are putting their money were their mouth is and backing up their statements that they want city to be the biggest club in ireland. and with georgie here till 2005 were on d way great news
did i read this right:eek:Quote:

a bohs fan saying its good that we r keeping our big names
not being smart ger, just in a little shock
:D
as far as I'm concerned that signature could be the most important in the club's history. absolute magic
Fair play to Brian Lennox for coming up with a deal to keep Georgie here, shows he has a real ambition to make Cork City the best Club in Ireland.
Possibly the most important signing the club has ever made and it underlines our ambition to become the biggest and best club in the country.
Well done Brian Lennox and Pat Dolan.
