I was just checking this out on empireonline.com. It's the biggest poll in Uk film history I believe. The top 5 is pretty predictable, but hard to argue with. It was 5: Jaws 4: Shawshank 3: Empire Strikes Back 2: Raiders of the Lost Ark 1: Godfather.
Citizen Kane, the usual winner of such things was 28.
Oh I'd argue with it...
Empire Strikes back is ****e, and the ending of the Shawshank Redmption is ridiculous SPOILER: How did he manage to pin the poster back over the hole on all four corners?

SPOILER: Couldn't he have just lifted up the bottom part of the poster and leave it fall back into place after he crawls through? IIRC, there's no proof that all four corners are pinned back into place when the warden pulls the poster off the wall.Quote:

Shawshank is possibly most overrated film ever, It is a nice story well told but shouldn't be anywhere near top 10 lists. Footballers favourite movie alongside pasta for food as appeared in ever almost every Shoot interview :p

Well it is seen by most as the birth of the Summer blockbuster and is hugely popular still today. The theme music and impact it had is pretty huge. I grew up being pretty scared of swimming too far out in Kilkee bay thanks to that damn thing!! Anyway, I would say it's a classic, but I agree, wouldn't make my top ten either. Having said that I cant believe I didnt include a Hitchcock film. Also, for me, the start of Great Expectations is the greatest start of any film ever made.
If I could include an 11th film it would Le Boucher (the Butcher - brilliant). The two best silent films for me would be Nosferatu and Sunrise.

Yeah I genuinely think Back To The Future would be regarded as the best Trilogy had they not made an average third one. I think the first two knock the socks off of the first two Godfathers, Eps 4 and 5 of Star Wars, etc. Have watched both of them about 30 times now and never tire of them.Quote:

Halloween, my favourite ever horror. Classic. I must have seen Predator 50 times, Duck Soup is just brilliant. Dumb and Dumber again top class, as well as Big Lebowski. But I find I enjoy Lebowski more when I leave it alone for about a year, then watch it.Quote:
