FAI sets premium for best seats

It may sound like a dodgy disco in the Midlands but admission to the FAI's new 'Vantage Club' will require a lot more than 10 quid and a smile.

The association yesterday officially released prices for its premium seats and corporate boxes at the new Lansdowne Road stadium, promising to "bring corporate hospitality in Ireland to a new level".

It has certainly brought it to a new price high.

The cheapest seats available, located behind the goals in the south stand, will set fans back €12,000 for the 10-year duration. The most-expensive seats, on the halfway line, will cost €32,000. Prices for the 33 corporate boxes are available on demand. Those affected by the credit crunch, presumably, need not apply.

Looks like all the bbers are getting them.

Hope they sell very very well. Means stadium will be paid for an dhopefully prices kept down for the rest of us. I'm sure they'll serve decent prawn sandwiches in the Vantage Club.

I am sure I read somewhere that the prices are going to be keep as they are until 2012 , so that means my seat will still be 50 Euro in 4 years time :):):)

After a 67% increase on the move the Croke Park, the prices would want to stay the same for at least that long.

I can't see these selling well, not with the way the economy is at the moment. If you were to pick a bad week to launch this i think the FAI may have come up trumps.

Not sure you got the irony of my post. I think the FAI should have known that it was going to be one of the worst weeks for the banking sector in living memory.

The staggered payments may actually be very successful.

If buying onbehalf of a corporation most only look at this years outlay, and will then right it off over a few years, with the annual payments someone elses problem in the future.

While not convinced it's a bit like Trap's CV, the marketing people reckon they can do it and did it for Wembley.

It would be interesrting to see thier fee deal.

If they are on a very low fee with very high bonuses for bringing in say €50m + then maybe it will work.

Would't put any money on them selling but that's not my expertise!

Just read the letter over the weekend. One piece of good news for block bookers is that they guaranteed in writing that our block bookings will continue in the new Lansdowne at the November 2006 levels.

Mistakes in the brochure were poor too. Our first International in Lansdowne Road was v Italy but in 1927 and not in 1971 as stated. An all ireland side under the control of the IFA also played England there in 1900.

It listed the 3 greatest games there as Holland 2001 (no argument), Spain 82 and Brazil 87. Beating Brazil at the time didn't mean that much hence the poor attendance compared to a total sellout v Belgium 3 weeks earlier. I'd have included the wins over France in 1977 and 1981 and the win over spain in 1989.

etc etc

so as an upper hogan sitter, i'd hope to get upper west....

although of course that depends on the fai doing things sensibly...

Doesn't it looks like the FAI's premium seat sale ambitions have a sense of bad timing?
Would the IRFU have already received the cash in hand for their early but safe sale?

What would the worst scenario be? Galvenised roof instead of that nice perspex?
FAI back to rent and play?

ive seen many empty at both the gaa and rugby matches in croke park before also. some companies only want them for the bigger games

Very unlikely i'd say. I got a letter from the FAI a few weeks ago stating that block bookers for Crokers will revert to the ticket quantities which applied in Lansdowne when we go back.

I dont think that was his question Scousedub, he is a waiting lister querying whether he will get to be a LR block booker.

From day 1 the FAI have stated that existing LR BB will revert to their original allocation when we head back to LR.

The rough consensus was that maybe 2000 (average 2 per ticket) on the waiting list will make it eg anybody up to ~WL15700 on their ref and 3000 will miss out based on away team allocation, corperate seat etc. ie maybe an extra 4000 tickets for those on the waiting list.

The above will obviously depend on the corperate take up and the corperate upgrade from ordinary BB to vantage club etc and probably a host of other things
