Irish Liverpool supporters - Sickening

I have to say my stomach was sick to read this.
Given whats going on with Cork City and all the other clubs around the country, its depressing to read this.

Apparently, 3,000 Irish fans are willing to fork out €6,300 each for the plan, which, notwithstanding the love for the Anfield club that exists in these parts, is a frustrating statistic. Fernando Torres and company are unlikely to be queuing down at the dole office in the near future.
The national co-ordinator of the Share Liverpool FC's Irish venture is former FAI CEO Bernard O'Byrne, an old foe of Delaney's.
As always in the incestuous world of the game here, there's a complicated, historical context. At executive level, the same old characters keep popping up again and again. Such nuances will matter little to those who lost their livelihood yesterday, or those that will suffer the same fate in the weeks and months ahead even if they don't know it yet."

So what its nothing we dont know stupid thread sure Aldridge the English man that played for Ireland was over a while ago looking for people to sign up.

Just think of all the children in Finglas, Ballymun, Tallaght,etc, who'll never be fed or dressed again because Daddy spent 7k borrowed from a Lithuanian gangster to prop up a foreign football club. Very sad really

seriously though if that money was invested domestically? What a real shame, why do people feel the need that thiers lives are so dour and boring that they msut invest their money and lives into teams they have no connection with just so they can buy into what they see as automatic success.

You just have to wonder how many liverpool fans from Cork are sending over money when really they should be helping their own club who REALLY could do with the money.

To call it sickening is over the top. People can do with their money what they like. As a Liverpool supporter it is an interesting group that has been setup to get the club back into the hands of the fans and should be applauded. It is a supporters trust under a different entity. Some supporters of Eircom League clubs should have a look into what the ShareLFC intiative is about.

Not all Irish football fans support Eircom League clubs it is a fact. If it was the case Cork City would be getting sell out crowds every week and wouldn't be in the situation they currently find themselves in. Have Cork City supporters setup a supporter trust to buy back the club into their hands if they love the club that much just like what Irish Liverpool supporters want to do with their money as they the parasites that currently run the club.

Yet sure they are parasites Liverpool fans welcomed them with open arms :rolleyes:then when they decided to do what they wanted with their money they had a fit.I mean to call them parasites is way over the top.People can do with their money what they like.

To be honest this sort of behaviour doesnt surprise me. No Liverpool fans i know (and i know upwards of 20) attend or follow the league and are generally the most cynical and snide with their comments. Perhaps its just common to this area of the world but irish liverpool fans seem to scoff on the league from their high armchair. Utterly dismissive and non-believing that once their club at the beginning would have been worse than current eircom league sides. Everything has to start somewhere, if people dont give our own football a chance progression is impossible.

Is that a snipe at me? I go to Wexford Youths games as much as I can. Travelling up from Waterford to Wexford is an expensive trip but worth it. Love going to the matches as I have a genuine passion for Wexford as much as I have for Liverpool.

More than just the money, they dragged the clubs name through dirt and used the fans as pawns in there little game against Benitez. No fan of any club if they love the club as much as they do would not stand for what went on. We welcomed them with open arms of course nobody would have thought that would happen in the 18 months ahead.

No not at all mate! I didnt read any replies apart from the first post, red rag to a bull have had years of liverpool 'fans' who have never been to a liverpool game apart from someone's testimonial at lansdowne talking down the league and discouraging people from trying it as its apparently 'uncool' to follow our own league! Rant at friends no offence meant at all.

Personally I don't care what team anyone supports or what the spend their money on, but from talking to English supporters of English teams,who come over to Ireland to see their teams play in pre season, Irish supporters of English teams are dispised by the majority of supporters in England. The see them as blow ins going over and taking tickets from "real fans" for all the glamour games. They nearly p1ssed themselvels when the heard Irish people were donataing money to the ShareLFC.

If you find it so shocking that liverpool fans who have a passion for there club are sending money to save the club from idiots why dont you set up=
"SHARE CORK CITY FC"
And get city fans to give 3000 grand so that Joe Gamble can get a weeks wages. Do you think Joe Gamble gives a sh*t if you or me lose or job tomorrow so don't bother playin that card:mad:

I can live with people having an association with Liverpool or whoever if they also turn up and support their local side.
It is the people who consider themselves proud to be Irish but sneer at LOI who I have a problem with.

It should be bizarre that a former CEO of the FAI, and of a Premier Division club (O'Byrne) is leading this initiative.

Imagine the media backlash in the UK if someone like Graham Kelly or Brian Barwick started a Share Real Madrid FC campaign !

Don't want to get dragged into this pointless argument but this is a pretty daft generalisation. Off the top of my head there are three regular posters on here, apart from myself, that I know are also Liverpool fans (and I know very few of the foot membership) and that doesn't include the couple more that have replied above. I would also know easily a dozen Blues fans who don't post here that are also Liverpool fans. It must just be common to your area of Ireland. :D
