An average enough player imo. A very good move for him though and Roberto might be the manager to get more out of him if there is more there. Time will tell.

Few thoughts on McGeady's move for anyone interested.....

Good point about Martinez and Maloney.

“His situation is that he hasn’t done anything for six weeks,” adds Martinez. “That means he has been de-trained a little bit.
“But he has been working on his own and keeping himself fit so he has been getting a lot of benefit straight away. Every session you can see him getting sharper.
“Regaining his match fitness is going to be all-important. It’s a little bit too early to say but I see the mentality is right and he is ready to help the team straight away. Physically we are going to have to bide our time and assess every session how he develops.
“Every session makes a big difference and that is down to his personal natural fitness.”
Everton tried to sign his father in 1973.

In paper that he is starting tonight, 4/1 to score on his debut, very tempting!
McGeady on for Oviedo.
Quite début, managed to get a McGeady spin in though.
Afaics he got on the ball about 5 times and didn't fck up. On one occasion he breezed by one midfielder as if he wasn't there and laid on a good attacking move. He looked at home and to have the freshness of a 22 year old.
Sky's verdict.
Was busy but didn't threaten on debut
He did put in one of his vintage McGeady crosses though, all the time in the world and it barely lifted from the ground. It actually could have turned out dangerous though, as the first West Brom player seemed to misjudge it, but it drifted harmlessly wide as no Everton player had gambled at the back post.
Mcgeady looked like he was trying to win over the crowd early with a few unncessary flicks and tricks. He was involved but as usual when it mattered it came to nothing. He had a chance to play lukaku through on goal and he hit it too hard, and he had another chance to cross and his usual awful low doesnt get off the ground. I can see the Everton fans getting frustrated by him quickly especially if Barkley isn't back in soon and they are as facile as they were last night.
I probably missed that attempted cross. Overall I think he'll do grand. He looked competent on the ball cutting inside.
I don't get the obsession the EPL has with crosses, getting the winger to hit it in high into the box.
Norwich kept pumping the ball into the box against Hull last Saturday, when their actual strength is with the ball on the ground.
Of all the managers going I don't think Martinez is too fussed about crosses. That said, it opened up nicely for McGeady and with Lukaku to aim for, it was a bit of a waste.
If he could manage to do something productive today week at Anfield it would help win over a few doubters no end. The nature of his game is always going to make him an easy target when things aren't going well though.
He has to meet his own and Martinez's standards, that should be enough for the needs of Everton. Even when players have a good game, it's part of the addictive process that doubters will find/invent something to justify having their doubts :)
XI del Everton: Robles, Hibbert, Baines, Jagielka (c),
McGeady, Oviedo, Mirallas, Naismith, McCarthy,
Barry, Stones.
Starts today. Stevenage should be SPL level so should be familiar for him
Yeah but Naismith doesn't come with the recommendation of Messi and Xavi.

How did he play?
Not sure but he set up the opening goal.
edit: the BBC report has it wrong, it was McCarthy who shot and the keeper parried it to Naismith
From what I saw, McGeady controlled the rebound from the goalie and laid it on for Naismith.
He played alright on the night. Probably will start against Liverpool. It's hard to say if he's match fit enough to play in such an encounter. Probably would seem a bit tame compared to some of the high profile derbies he's been involved in, it's more a matter if he can catch up with the pace of the game.
On now for Barkley
He's just cranked a beauty against the post. Cut in from the right onto his left foot inside the box and belted one off the far post. Good start.
He's been taking way too much out of the ball since.
Were you expecting any different tho?we are all aware of his game at this stage the everton fans might not be tho!
I'm pointing it out for the benefit of those not watching.

Did he move central when they hooked barkley at half time for pienaar?
Sorry for the delay Mr Liamoo. It's a tough question to answer. His performance was a mix of great touches, some good passes and passages of play with some general sloppiness, over complication and ineffectiveness. Probably a touch more of the latter. 6.5/10.
He certainly played more centrally after the change but I wouldn't say he was switched to a central role.
Just say he lacked end product. Go on Stu, you know you want to.
Haha! I can't do it.
Despite much effort and graft, an impotent performance then?
Why not let the wee man speak for himself? he's not shy to give a fair appraisal of his efforts.
Getting up to full speed.
“I was obviously a little bit apprehensive at the start, a little bit nervous,” McGeady told evertontv. “In the first half I thought I did okay and the second half I probably let myself down a couple of times. But I kept going to the end and I’m just happy that we won.
“It was a great first game for me – not because I played great, because I didn’t – but because the team ultimately won and that’s the main thing.
“There were a few little things I was disappointed with. If I was on my game I know I wouldn’t have done those things, but I can’t be too harsh on myself because I need to bide my time and be patient. Hopefully in the coming months I can get up to full speed.”

"Failing to take chances, however, has been a recurring theme of the 27-year-old's career whose return of just three goals from 63 internationals has left a succession of Irish managers, from Brian Kerr to Giovanni Trapattoni, scratching their heads in frustration.
If only this was their sole concern, but other shortcomings, namely his dubious decision-making and substandard crossing, have left him at a stage in his career where instead of reaching his peak, he is still trying to convince."
