It's looking possible that the Carlisle will be empty soon enough. Handy DART link to the northside and everything.

interesting article in the DI.
EDIT: Wrong thread
I thought it was an altogether very silly article with wild, and very vague, comparisons to the likes of the US and Brazil. Much of it made absolutely no sense.
I've no doubt this was the genesis of that article

Comparing Dalymount redevelopment to 60k capacity stadiums built for half a billion dollars of taxpayers money for rich professional clubs....with billionaire owners... there is no comparison at all to a 10k ground for a semi-pro club, run by fans, with multiple users, in a league crying out for investment...... mad article... looking for wrongs where there are none... well not many ; )
I think he meant if Bohs have to move out while its under development. There are lots of options close by (the closer the better) if that proves to be needed.
I think the Jodi will remain as is with some minor upgrades although (wishful thinking, I know!) I'd love if we were getting some sort of "bowl" type stadium and not a Tallaght v2.0.
If you look at Parc y Scarlets or even somewhere like the Bescott. They are good templates. I know the shape of the area around Dalymount is somewhat awkward but there is great scope if a little imagination could be used. I suppose that's why I referred earlier to getting the involvement of the dept of education and the dept of sport, to see if the school could be integrated, which would then give a little more scope to planning and design.
There is so much that could be done with this project that would help the community the city and Bohs.
I don't see any reason the Jodi couldn't be part of the new stadium.
Would be very sorry to see the JodI go.
The warren of bars and other rooms offices and cubby
holes are the original construct and design ( Archibald Leech)?.The best atmosphere in the country when it's a decent crowd.
Would be good to get the toilets sorted thouhh.
DCC should be ashamed of presiding over such poor sanitary facilities.
There was a bar in Deacy Park for the game between Galway United and Liverpool. I'm not too sure where in the ground it was located as I wasn't at the game. The official club Twiter had photos of a delivery of kegs and the bar. Perhaps they were testing the water with regard to neighbours etc

Don't see how you could have it both ways.. developing a new ground like Parc y Scarlets (I agree 100%) and keeping the Jodi. (I disagree 100%)
Keeping the Jodi means keeping all it's problems, the narrow alley, the poor access, and if you keep the Jodi you have to keep the pitch where it is now and pretty much you have to keep the entrances that you have now... and all the problems you have now...
Starting over could allow the pitch to be shrunk (it's at maximum legal size which is rarely used nowadays, Aviva etc. is smaller) and the pitch could be moved towards the tramway end and that could allow all sorts of improvements..
A gym been installed under the new stand recently at the RSC. Place is looking in really good nick and has come on a lot since the days of one stand and a glass bank behind the town end goal. There's also three training pitches just off the main pitch and the main pitch itself is looking in excellent condition.
Just a pity both stands are so far away from the pitch with the running track as it affects the atmosphere hugely.
Non-LOI here, but can't help but feel incredibly jealous of the ongoing work at Windsor Park and the incredible stadium Linfield are going to be left with once it's completed.
At 18,000 seats, it's a comfortable sized stadium and will be the envy of every club in the Irish League and indeed of every club on this entire island.
Here's a recent picture:

Dreadful area of town, and not just because of the sectarianism.
I do think it's too big for Linfield though. In the old ground, with around 1,000 people there (or less), the atmosphere is just awful. Any noise is lost in the vastness of the space.
Akin to how Thomond was with Limerick really.
Whats the latest with the supposed redevelopment of the Brandywell that was supposed to start two months ago now ?
Ha, 29th May we were told.
Delayed because of any number of excuses.
Take your pick from:
•Delay of funds from OFMDFM
•Awaiting approval which was delayed because of Casement
•Bats
•Contractor hasn't been found yet
•Greyhound fellas haven't been accommodated yet
New date for commencement is August-September...ish.
Oriel Park lease latest;

That's a very honest piece by the Dundalk chairman, hopefully the Oriel lease can be sorted .
Agreed but I wouldnt be too bothered to see 'The Home of Football' signage disappear - its about as subtle as 'We are the Champions' over a Tannoy in July 2013:)
It s not a major deal but it is hardly an original or accurate 'slogan'. It isnt 'the' home of football as much as our home of football. It seem a tad arrogant imo but so be it. I vaguely remember Micky Duffy wanting to have a 'Fortress Oriel' sign erected as we languished in the bottom 3 of the 1st Division, and a 'This is Oriel' over the players tunnel. Fortress Oriel is less cringeworthy if it was done these days. There are many greater things for myself or Dundalk fans to be bothered about!
This is Oriel doesnt seem so bad now...
Great documentary on last year 'the crazy gang' (Wimbledon) Fash or Vinny Jones did just that to the 'this is Anfield ' sign, they made sure they were out first and took a black marker to it and wrote 'bothered' then sat in a circle on the pitch laughing, I think they beat them too. Horrible club, but a funny story all the same.
