Maybe but Pav and Defoe were on the bench. Robbie is obviously 5th now in the pecking order which is unacceptable for him. I know he's probably the most transferred player in history, but he needs to go to a lower league side where he'll get his game. Aston Villa would be the best option, but even somewhere like Wolves or Stoke at this stage would do. He just needs to be playing.
Everton is the best option I think. Villa will have Agbonlahor when he comes back from injury. Everton have nobody capable of double figures goalwise.
I'd say there'd be interest in Spain if he was willing. I think he'd suit the style of play there as well...
I am pretty certain that his days at Spurs under Redknapp were numbered from the moment 'Arry heard Keane (Spurs Captain, btw) had organised a players Xmas Party in Dublin under the guise of as "golfing trip". (Redknapp had specifically banned any Xmas do).Quote:

It's no surprise at all to me that Robbie is on £75k a week. He has a couple more goals than Nicolas Anelka on only a few more appearances than him in the Premier League. Anelka signed a contract extension after the World Cup which undoubtedly saw his £120k per week salary increased.
People seem to be forgetting that Robbie Keane is actually a top class striker who has scored goals consistently throughout his career, for club and country.

I think going to Villa isnt bad at all. Makes 'Wolves and Villa the 'Irish' teams in the PL. Would mean we have 8 players regularly starting or coming off the bench from just 2 teams. Granted one of those 8 is the bald one...

Though call for Robbie. He's getting a LOT of dosh to warm his backside on the bench (when he makes it that far). I suspect he'll have to take a big drop in salary if he moves but perhaps that could be compensated with a "signing on" fee. Perhaps he dreamed of playing for Sheffield Wednesday now that they have a bit of money ;)
I am only making assumpitions about his finincial situation but I reckon after more than 10 years of playing in the top flight and possible cuts of over 40 million spent on his transfers he his is already set for life. He could still earn 25 to 50 grand a week at a different club for the next two years and get to play regularly. That would probably be somewhere from 1/3 to a 1/2 of what he earns now and it's his choice if he is willing to do that. I know if I was a footballer with so much cash already in the bank, I would rather play regularly than letting the last few years of playing at the top level fizzle out as a bit-part player just to earn a bit more cash. I don't know Robbie personally but I'm sure he would have the same attitude and we will see him sign a 2-year-deal with a mid to lower table Premership team in January. If he continues like he is he will also be at risk of losing his place in the Irish team.Quote:

Full circle, back to his first side and a link up with Doyle for a side where staving off relegation will be the height of their ambition for the forseeable, and if they fail, we lose both of our strikers from the top level. Surely he isnt this much of a busted flush so soon after costing Liverpool all that money? surely a Villa/Everton stature of club must be achieveable?

Therefore it's probably best for all concerned if Spurs can get £5-6m for him from some other Premier League club outside the Top Six.

A lot of very good players win few, if any, medals. The reality now is that unless you play for Man U or Chelsea, trophies are a rarity.
