Can I ask the 'Pike' people if you think you deserve to be still in the competition after fielding an illegible player in it?? I'm not looking for Saints did this or someone tipped them off or we've been screwed by the FAI etc. I know you must be sick over whats happened and its come as a kick in the teeth. But as a straw poll 'Should Pike be still in the FAI Junior Cup after playing an illegible player?' yes or no??
Why not? Pike were 100% legal when they played st michaels.st micks objected with no proof whatsoever that pike were illegal which has been proved.so you tell me why st micks objection was upheld.don't want a big rigmarone, just the facts.Now it's the st micks objection we are talking bout here and nothing else.Quote:

I wonder wether part of the problem lies in the overall structure of football in the Republic, in that you have on paper 3 tiers - Senior, Intermediate & Junior though I do wonder exactly what the differance actually is between Intermediate & Junior.
With most countries you would expect that players would move through the tiers as their carreers progressed or declined, however here it may appear players in decline jump tiers . This being partly that a lot of clubs refuse to move through the tiers themselves as in a normal pyramid system. So a number of clubs that compete at an apparent Junior level in reality are probably Intermediate set up.
Taking Munster for example, there is the Munster Senior League (though predominatly a Cork City/East County geographical area). backed up by at Junior Level the various County Leagues.
Evidently junior teams in their County Leagues do not wish due to finance restrictions progress in a pyramid system and thus remain big fish in small ponds. Untill such time a proper pyramid system is instigated that the ongoing problem of registering ex senior players may always continue.
Historically Pike, Clonmel, Tipperayey,Cahir, Janesboro, Limerick Trojans, a number of Waterford teams, Tralee and Killarney have at times partaken in the MSL. Which in theory should be the principle league for the whole Province.
Admittingly to force clubs to move up levels can lead to financial burden. Either make the principle County Divisions Intermediate level, though I would suggest introducing a regional Intermediate level below the Msl - North Munster, best teams from Clare, Limerick, ntdl and some Desmond/Kerry. East Munster - TDSL & Waterford. These regional divisions being fed with promotion/relegation from County divisions.
There has forever been problems of players being ineligble due to registration between moving between levels through out the history of football in Ireland, One way to possibly eradicate this is if clubs played at a correct level due to their ability and facilities.

There is a procedure to be followed regarding the objecting to illegal players with timeframes in place for such objections to be raised. Is it not true that Pike played an illegal player? intentionally or not? the fact that you got away with it for 1 or 2 rounds doesnt make it acceptable. I know that you must be really hurting about how it has all been handled and that you were so close to the final, but would you seriously be happy to be looking at the 'holy grail' in the trophy cabinet of your fine clubhouse with 'this' hanging over you??Quote:
