I think the interview process is invaluable. It can identify a manager and his readiness and enthusiasm to start/do the job.

Seriously, If you ran a managerless computer company, and had even the slightest suspicion that Bill Gates was interested in running it, would you call him for interview, (along with the guy who has experience stealing computers, a guy who has extensive knowledge of the 1983 Apple II 5&3/4 inch floppy drive model, and the guy who failed maths & science in his junior cert) or would you headhunt him, & lock you & him & your best business minds and persuasive employees in a room so you and he could negotiate the best possible arrangement?

No matter if we agree with Keane (and to a point I do!), I just don't understand why he keeps commenting on it as it has absolutely nothing to do with him!! I agree that he's entitled to his opinion but he should realise that anything he says (as previously pointed out by others) will be spinned to high-heavens by the media. He's been critical of the process on several occasions now, we all know where he stands on it so he should just mind his own business (i.e Sunderland) at this stage...

Also the idea that some of the potential candidates would being interview by fellow football people is ridiculous. Most of them have had to deal with idiotic chairman. I think it would be a change for them to talk with people who actually have playing, coaching and mgmt experience.
The time taken to appoint so far isn't a problem. There's no rush. I remember people saying we should wait until after the Euro Championships when some of the managers may be available. I think that's way too late.
