They should get a good crowd in harps, and the teams around them, doubt they'll "bring the averages for that division through the roof", but i guess only time will tell.

I'd also expect Monaghan to benefit from a decent travelling City support. I hope so anyway, as they're a nice club that I'd like to see a few extra quid on the gates going to.

I'd expect Longford and Athlone aways to attract near enough the crowd for the Munster games, as both towns are a bit of a pain to get to.

I meant our home gates will push up the overall 1st division average from what it was this past season, i dont expect many derry fans to travel any further south than dublin, sorry if i gave the wrong impression again i meant our home gates.

not very often dcfcsteve that I disagree with you but any time we have played ye in flansiro ye have always brought down a good away attendance.. It wont be as big as the mid 80s but still its decent.. its more than what we would bring up to you..

TBF we have always brought a good crowd to Longford, even in the bad old days that we are now returning to.

Only a few years ago we (at the time) "Brandywell Pride SC" had two buses down, I was driving the mini-bus and the game had a 8pm KO, I was in Derry sitting in a bar at midnight.

On a Sat it is a quick run back especially if you drive via Eniskillen and over the mountain road.

Re Stu: Put Cork2 in for Rovers between 4,000 and 4,500 (it was midweek with champions lg on)

Cant really remember Bray2 though its safe to assume it was no less than 4,000.

The obvious success story is Rovers at Tallaght. Hope they can keep it up.
Some mind boggling figures there: UCD, first division champions, had an average of 272!

Bohs made more money from renting out a car park they own than from gate receipts last year. Gates are low enough in this league that they're entirely secondary to fundraising for most clubs.

Hoping for as much as this season! We sold over 2,000 before the season started and another thousand after that, some of which were half season tickets.
I'm very confident we'll be able to sustain the same big crowds throughout next season.

?? Surely it's at least 4,000..the last few or their games they had just under 6,000

According to the Sunday Times article on eh..Sunday their average was 4,500

Then again, I fully acknowledge that in my head, I see a season where I get to tick all the remaining grounds I haven't visited off my list, play teams I don't normally get to see, and have a chance of winning a league at the end of it. Oh, and meet Bluebeard.

The reality hasn't sunk in yet that it will be a long, hard slog with a part-time team. It's a nightmare trying to get promoted from what is a very competitive First Division and genuinely difficult to go places like Monaghan and Waterford and pick up points. We could be stuck for years down there depending on our luck. Just ask Dundalk fans.
