What are the Salthill Devon team like. I know that it would not be a great Westport U-18 team (two defeats to Celtic U-18 B)compared to some of the past teams. Was young Tropey playing, a good player.Any of the U-18's playing with the Senior team for the Connacht Cup.
How will this improve the Westport Youths. You can not make a silk purse out off a sow's ear. I see noting wrong with the coaching methods or playing style of the Utd youth teams. If you don't have the players all the coaching in the world will not make them world beaters. Yes I agree you need to have the right coaching standards but I presume these are already in place.
Salthill were sharper than Westport and had a bit more savvy. Westport grafted well, working very hard, but the finess wouldn't be great. There are a couple of good players but some technically weak players on the squad. I wouldn't think that Salthill would be as good as Celtic's U.18s. Mr. Torpey did play, starting off up front before being brought back to midfield at half time. None of that squad played against Heatmerchants.
Passing of information and ideas onto the delegation at the meeting. Improve awareness with people involved as to what is happening in the world of development. Westport United are taking on the NIB FAI Summer Camp in August and the meeting was mainly based on that.
Coaching methods in the club is a mixture of old school and up to date methods, depending on the philosophy of each coach. Playing style is okay; the best style being with the U.16s, particularly when John Moran was involved.
Players are going to have their limits in terms of progression anyway. Progressive coaching would make the players better than if they got no coaching.
The right coaching standards are slowly coming onstream.
Took a peek at the Westport Youth Activities AGM. Pretty constructive and positive meeting. Some interesting points on the indoor football on a Saturday.
Wishing the Youths the best of luck in their new strategy. It would be great if clubs like Ballina, Westport, Ballinrobe, & K&K could compete with Celtic at all age groups not just at one or two. Claremorris are a good example of the way forward. It is not good for Mayo Youth football if the only team to beat is Celtic to win a title. Celtic could win all the leagues in 2006 (have already won U-12, U-14 & U-16) They have also achieved this in 2003.It would be great to have 3 or 4 teams competing in each league and it might stop players wanting to come to Celtic to win trophies.
Any news from the A.G.M. I,sopose you will not be in Castlebar to nite thunder
just as well you will have to find that unity, to talk about.
Well I hope that projet you talk about building your club house and pitches is on the table.or was it bridges?
Top table remains the same, the gaffer remains for another season and anybody caught writing derogatory posts about Westport United FC will face severe disciplinary action by the club with offenders, found guilty, subject to a life ban from the club and all activities from within. Very interesting motion at the meeting proposed by the PRO and was touched on pretty well by Pat Duffy concerning underage football. Let's rally behind the club!!
I dont think anyone outside westport football club is writing derogatory post about your club. But constructive crittizm is another matter, you may view this differantly. But to prove it is another matter in banning someone is over the top.
You appear to have gone on the extreme or are you members of the commist party. what happen to free speech. or is it in westport, all that is written first must be senored.
Any how did you achieve your objective that is to unite your junior club with your youths as you were putting forward.to have yts on the junior committee
How did quay heart get on? was he baned for his input to .ie
is O'Connor still the Manager?
Members of the committee and supporters were very angry at what was written on foot.ie and leaks out of meetings. It was also proposed that any future leak from the club, members are asked to go to committee members to name and shame and the offender will face disciplinary hearings.
The motion was to set up a formal underage sub-committee to administer and develop the game in Westport with representatives on the main committee and two from the sub-committee would represent the club at delegates meetings.

Thanks thunder for your answers, your write no one should write what is said what goes on at your meetings unless they are cleared by the club. That why you have P.R.O.

But I dont remember anyone putting up info from your club, only to say Quay Heart was angry at the way the club was being run, by the junior Committee.
Even he gone to ground.
Good to hear to have sorted yts and juniors committee.
Now you can see where the club is coming from. Westport United has no problems dealing with constructive and coherent criticism. There is free speech and there is a legal remit to what is free speech. Westport United doesn't pursue a policy of supression of opinion but Westport United will act if they feel that the best interests of the club are threatened by innuendo.
Same Rule was Brought in in another Mayo Club. I wont say who for fear of being Kicked Out  However i have to say that i think Foot.ie is an excellent benefit to the league and relations between clubs. :) But i do believe that all posters have the right to speek their mind. at the end of the day it is a forum just like a dating site :D and what is writtin here is not excatly the mayo news or Connaught Telegraph. If certain people choose to hide their identity ( E.G no obvious avatar) then their opinion is not that of the clubs........ Yes??
Anyone free on Sunday for a big game? You can make no mistake in travelling to Claremorris to see Westport United V Claremorris on Sunday at 2:00 in the Mayo U.16 Cup semi final. The winners will take on the winners of Castlebar Celtic and Urlaur United in the final and a possible rematch of the final won by, yours truly!!;) :D
i wasnt at agm and had no intention of going as last time i spoke out i was verbally abused by com. member.i stand behind all ive posted on this site except for the"licking up"coment.im glad to hear i was the main topic of the agm when the junior team had such a bad season i think boc and committee should thank me for taking all the flack off them !!
A date for your diary. On Friday 23rd February, there is going to be a horse and greyhound race night for Westport United in the Asgard bar, in the Quay, Westport. Promises to be a good night, and if any of the forumites are around, please call in and we will look after you!!;) :D
Hardly TB - they only started reading it cos they heard they were being slagged off. Does not count in my book. Anyway, why do they need to read it when the PRO has taken over the bloody site with his own Port thread! I'm sure they get enough updates from different sources but as they say in Castlebar 'Connacht Cups are ok but they are no substitute for the real thing!'
HOWZAT!
Is that what they say in Castlebar. Well then let me tell you a little story. Ronan O Boyle was not even givin a look in when Celtic played Shamrock Rovers and one of his relations asked a certain "High Figure" in celtic park why this was . The reply was not only shocking but disgusting " Because we were Afraid he might be Spotted" said the certain Figure. To add insult to injury the grey one also told O Boyle he Shouldnt sign for a certain Eircom League Club because he would " Find him a better Club". Guess What...... He never did. So Obviously the plan in celtic is to keep your best players in the (your Quote) " Poor Super League" Thank God He looks now set to Join us in Terryland but it dosent overlook the fact that he may not have been allowed progress for selfish reasons!!
Full report on the Westport United AGM on http://mayo.fai.ie/index.php?option=...sk=view&id=860.
Why are you so angry. Why are you getting so upset by what what is happening in Celtic. I did hear the ROB story so I cannot comment. As far as my experience Celtic are always delighted to see players moving to a higher standard and we would be delighted if ROB signed for Galway Utd as long as it is the first team and not the U-21. The reason we want to go U-21 is to give players like ROB a better standard to play in and if some of thes young players get good contracts with Eircom League clubs that would be great. New stepping stone to the UK. I think you see red every time you see Celtic name. Did some Celtic player stand on your toes when you lined out for the Boro or Galway. Cant make out which club you are involved with?
Lordy! - Obviously you went to a misinterpretation school. Figure of speech anyone?
Second hand information being given to a perosn regarding what is posted here is no substitute for the real thing. Just like Connacht Cups really.
Now don't let me stand in your way, best of luck in the U-21 (yeah right!):o
