Successful day all round Id say for the Everton game. A nice wee earner. Very entertaining game, fiesty for a friendly too. No first team regulars played which I was fine with, but the underage players were brilliant and more than held their own. Weather stayed pretty good.
I heard sligo fans were singing about only getting 60 grand for Seamus Coleman. I presume it was balefully sung?
Didn't Sligo actually get around 400k after selling some clauses to Eveton

Was good business in retrospect considering Coleman's loyalty to Everton and no activation of the potential windfall of a sell on. There may have been appearances and internation caps clauses but a sell on would bound to be the biggest cost to Everton and for all the big money moves that were touted they enver hapened of course. There were a multi million £ move to Old Trafford and The Emirates at one time that would have netted 7 figures at 10% for Sligo which would have been a sickener and selling the clauses vilified ala Cork City years back to plug short term finacesQuote:

So yeah, as desolation goes, it does sound it's still behind Mervue alright...

For a brief moment Id visions of Stu on the dark web trading ....rare UCD AFC programmes. Not quite as rustic or remote as places metioned above but I spent 4 weeks in Azerbaijan teaching airline pilots English back in 2000 which looking back is pretty mad in itself. Wasnt as sparkling and new then as it would be now with all that oil money. But did get to see it kind of unspoilt by tourism especiallly on the coast, but cant say the same for the Soviet influence of unspoilt - only worth a wrecking ball. We were treated ridiculously well, paid a small fortune to young a graduate and never experienced humidity like it. I didnt appreciate it then tbh, would love to do it again and make better use of the time in the region.
Ballyfermot United play Southend United in a friendly next week. Not quite Mervue Shkupi levels but it’s still a random one

No team sheets, or reports, but finished 1-1. All very hush-hush.
I think alot of clubs do these type games. Dundalk play Warrenpoint or Newry in behind closed doors games a good few times at start and end of season (obvs due to them being off mid summer)Quote:

I'm not a 'crime is rampant' person , it is not. Just the institution of the Guards have become allergic to police work.
A story in the Drogheda Independent a few months ago about a local GAA club that was extorted under threats of violence was dismissed by the Guards as 'civil matter'.
Nevermind letting the right wing goons set up Road Blocks last year, and all the arson attacks that happen without consequence.

With the early kick off Bohs/ Rovers.. Just mental to me that the league is willing to 'hide' a prime game in the morning. This should have been flagged way before as a game that could potentially be moved due to Europe, and potential consequences should have been liased on (ie Major events on in the city should have been known for that weekend before the season starts).
Total failure of administration really.
But to be fair, I think I am alone in being against morning kick offs.
