I know I was being a little tongue-in-cheek mentioning him simply on the basis that his managerial career seems to be mirroring Ange Postecoglu's, and that there has been no mention of him at all as a potential option... but if he put his hat in the ring, would he not merit serious consideration?Quote:

As Eirambler said if the FAI, or more so Canham is worth the money we pay for him then he'll surely have succession plans in place for such situations. A break in case of emergency plan even that might only mean a caretaker for half a campaign.
If Carsley gets the job I don't think the FA will let him bring any of his staff with him. FAI should try and have some input into helping him find a number two and try get someone they feel could be a caretaker option in case we're managerless mid campaign.
If Mark Warburton is still jobless by the time we appoint a new manager he's someone the FAI should look at as a coach. While he left West Ham because he wanted a more senior role he also talked about falling out with Moyes on footballing matters. If Carsley gets the job they've both worked together at Brentford so would assume they both have similar ideas on how football should be played. Might make another role in coaching attractive if his views and ideas on how things should be done lined up with the managers footballing philosophies.

Wouldn't rule out seeing Coleman joining the backroom staff of the next man within a couple of years.
FAI should be looking at getting Coleman involved at any age group asap. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes into some form of coaching this summer with Everton. Even if it was player/coach.
His best days might be behind him but if he wasn't injured he'd still be first choice RB with Everton. Not a bad backup option to have if he feels up to still playing.
Was looking at a long list of suspects for the job the other day and you can have a punt on Vera Pauw but not Se Coleman at the moment. Now, not saying he should get it, but I would actually have him oversee the next campaign & see how he fared, ahead of some of the washed up managerial dross on the short list to be honest with you.Quote:

The thing is though, Bruce would probably be a considerable upgrade on his predecessor if he got the job. Don't get me wrong, he wouldn't be my pick, but four Championship promotions, an FA Cup final and a Premier League manager of the month award is miles ahead of anything Stephen Kenny achieved and would actually probably be one of the stronger CVs in the submission list for the job.
Look, anyone who has managed in the top few divisions in England on paper would have a stronger resume than Kenny, but it doesnt mean Id pick a lot of them. If your criteria is has "managed better clubs than Stephen Kenny" you might as well add someone like Joey Barton into the list.Quote:

Yes I'm the same to an extent - Carsley first pick and we'll see where we go if he says no. But would Bruce be any more of a mercenary than Neil Lennon or Roy Keane? Granted they're both Irish, but if it came to it I'd see both of them putting themselves first. Bruce is probably a better manager than either of those two, albeit that's not saying a whole lot.
Bruce's mother is Irish and his son played for Ireland (both Irelands in fact). He wouldn't be a complete outsider in that regardQuote:
