Something like 761 at LTFC v Galway, bar the Bray game which was a Monday night, that's 600+ at both of our home matches so far. Encouraging, although lack of atmosphere is disappointing.

I've been corrected by someone who would know with absolute certainty. 371 Waterford tickets scanned.
I forgot that they put in wheel chair sections at the back of two sections of the St. Anne's end which would reduce capacity from the 560 they used yo hold. Add in a barrier blocking the first couple of rows and that probably reduces capacity of each section to 400ish.
It looked completely overstuffed but maybe there were pockets of empty space in the middle. Maybe some Waterford fans with home tickets in addition to the 371.
Not a league game but 462 at Turners Cross for a Munster Senior Cup game vs Midleton.
Couldn't tell you much about Leinster but i love the Munster Senior Cup. It has a tonne of history, dating back to the 1870s, where it was won by q bunch of military teams including some FA Cup finalists/winners.
I think it was played continuously for close to a century unbroken before Covid. The only previous break being from the start of WW1 until just after independence.
It's also probably my favourite trophy in Irish football aesthetically.
City have the most wins with 18, but we don't win it consistently enough for me. We tend to play our kids once the league season starts. We had a very young team out last night.
I hope they bring back the Leinster Senior cup. I think it’s a handy competition to give the back up and U-19’s lads a game.
Are they going to bring back the League Cup ?
No, its Dundalk's to keep, we won it in 2019 so now the holders 3 seasons running, FAI currently checking out if this constitutes a treble to go with the actual double of 2018 and mini double of 2019 (League and LC), Derry keeping close tabs on the events.
2,053 at Dundalk v UCD, not sure I have ever seen a league game in Oriel Park with zero away fans, away terrace was empty, unless a few went to the stand.
Regardless of any away support, or the opposition this was still over 600 less than the lowest so far this season (2,676 v Finn Harps) so its a little disappointing, however the other two home games were over 3,500 but then again both had significant away support in Derry and Rovers, and with respect to other clubs, a better attraction for local fans.
In summary if just over 1,500 season tickets were sold (heard this was the figure), its still only 500 + deciding to go to the game, but on plus side, this could be the lowest crowd of the season, not guaranteed, but if that was just over 2k its not too bad I suppose.
Probably about 1800 at the Harps match. Couple of hundred Rovers fans.
I heard it was 1492 at Waterford v Longford. Crowd down on first couple of games with poor results and style of football.
Great crowd there last night 1759 with little or no away fans. The curry and coffee is a huge hit
Crowds starting to settle down a bit now, after the initial opening flurry ?
The usual start of season hope starting to hit reality for supporters of a few clubs, plus the drudgery of supporting across a whole season, is bound to see crowds tailing off at places. On the plus side though, the good weather and longer evenings are starting to creep through as well.
Extratime.com have Pats Drogheda down as a 3,000 estimate. I’d agree that’s pretty accurate, decent crowd considering the rain. Around 150 Drogs fans but in terms of consistent atmosphere they were the best visiting fans in Richmond this year so far (Sligo, Shamrock and UCD being the other home games up to now)
Showgrounds, Shels about 80 - 100 away
2,626
Gaa crowds are also down a lot in recent weeks. Saying that the Kerry v Mayo football league final on telly now now looks decent considering how the Gaa treats the competition. Be interesting if the cost of living increases will effect attendances in the coming weeks, surely it will for away fans(transport, accommodation etc).
It provided off season entertainment for a while but has gone very quiet. I haven’t heard it mentioned since the season started. There is no doubt that he will get serious stick next week but things have moved on in the overall picture. We are just concentrating on the new side and management team. I’d imagine Mr K has been focusing his energy on the new film he is involved in and the Pakistan partnership. I’d say it will see its day in court eventually.
Yeah thought the Drogheda fans were great the other night , pity to see a good crowd on a wet night and then Pats turn in a performance like that .
Interesting you mention that, Louth GAA have been bemoaning the lack of crowds at our intercounty games and that they didnt get the surge that was evident elsewhere and during an excellent campaign. Its unprecedented for Louth to be able to say that they have won 7 games on the spin ending in silverware, promotion and will be in the All-Ireland proper now. It was also commented on that EVEN Drogheda are getting better average crowds (so Louth <1500) which was quite patronising imo. The combined average of Dundalk and Drogheda is about 5k over a similar period. Louth suffer from having sh!te poor facilities for home games, but Oriel and HITG Park are hardly top notch. It would be interesting to look at why a national trend has been bocht by Louth gah fans.
I doubt there are figures on travelling fans but Id say the gap is massive between Dundalk/Drogheda and Louth in terms of numbers or % of home average.
773 in Finn Park and it's only going to continue decreasing while we throw away points.
If Pats under Clancy were tearing it up and O'Donnell's Dundalk in the bottom two, it would all go away. Kelleher has Kerr in his ear so the coals will be kept stoked, Kerr being the forgive and forget type 'n all. Unless he is too busy in Pakistan trying to ban artificial pitches.
Yeah, no issue with the sports especially hurling, but the governing body is full of self important tossers, from HQ to county boards. The bog standard fan that sees football fans as some sort of national traitors are a dying breed thee days but occasionally a nuisance like Peter Fitzpatrick. I'd expect there to be a bandwagon effect for Louth's championship games which will no doubt return to type and become Sligo Rovers in Europe trying everything possible to lose winnable games.
To get the thread back on course. It’s set to be a sell out on Friday in Richmond. The game is on RTE aswell so this represents a huge change in attitude to the LOI by the sporting public. If it’s for the long term or just a post Covid bounce only at the end of season we can make a full assessment.
Have to say I do think that current trends in attendances across all sports is relevant. Knowing why there are differences helps with devising strategies to minimise any potential fall off. The Louth example alludes to facility provision, disgruntlement with the local admin of the sport. Maybe its just very hard to break an old mindset - somethings that seems to have happened in positive terms with LoI. The only thing that differs from previous seasons is that apathy among lapsed fans that now seems to have been broken by lockdowns, only appreciating what you have when its not there stuff. Watching to see if there is an upturn in crowds at Louth games, accounting for generally greater interest in the All-Ireland, while also identifying the auld bandwagon rolling in would be a useful exercise. When the new county ground is opened the build it and they will come thinking will get a bit of a litmus test. After that sniping at Brian Kerr and the faux outrage from the close season is always fair game at any given opportunity, especially with Friday's fixture pending. Would the game have sold out f it wasnt for the S'OD controversy? Pats off the back of a poor performance, some fans questioning their managers ability and Dundalk being a mid-table side at best so there isnt the on field competitive draw for supporters. All this while also recognising that the 'sold out' signs have happened across the league irrespective of traditional or local rivalries.
Reckoned 600-700 in the Bowl last night. Didn't see how the far end of the stand looked, but going off it being a bit under half full overall.
2209 in The Showgrounds
And how many bohs last night if you have the info
