*Cough* San Marino *cough*
I'm very pleased for Parrott.
And we've stopped playing again since the goal
F&$king blow it up ref
Connolly and Idah have been fairly toothless in previous games in fairness. Options are poor
Is taking the lead against superior opposition seen as a positive? In which case Andorra are a great side yeah?
Good to see McGrath coming on-hope he does well.
Positives are that Parrott and Knight score. Negative is that Kenny stays on for another match.
Good finish from Knight
A reprieve for Kenny, and important it isn't seen as more than that. Let's see how they get on against Hungary.
The bad performances all add up though.
And that was a performance as awful as the result. I think Kilbane's goal on 50 minutes was our first effort on target
Our best ever win against Andorra.
Long live king Kenny!
delighted for Horgan.. always looks busy
There has been some real quality deliveries in the 2nd half.
We scored 4... what the hell!!
Yep there's little to see or suggest bar parrot really and Andorra dying off an the pressure putting on us dropped. We did have better crosses going in in the second half. But that's the little I saw improve.
We've got much worse defensively especially set pieces under Kenny.
Not sure we learned anything from that game tbh. Next game is make or break despite it being a friendly.
Our defense can’t be excused as it’s one of the areas we actually have good players in.
I don’t know. I really don’t.
The two games against Cyprus and the win in San Marino were three of the worst performances I can remember. That's a lot in an 18-month period for a team that included some genuinely top class players. (The 4-0 home defeat against Holland wasn't great either, but it was a friendly and Holland can do that to you at times)
I agree we had some good results too.
One win in 12 against the part-timers of Andorra is not in any real sense appreciably better than the previous no wins in 11. Especially when the performance was as bad as the one we all just witnessed.
Nice to get a win albeit Andorra. Wonderful to see Parrot notch two and Knight score. Hopefully they can build on it. Bazunu, Cullen, Parrott, Horgan did okay. Central defense will have better days. Poor game from J Collins, Hourihane, McClean and Curtis. Knight is not a winger despite his excellent assist, playing him out wide does him a disservice. Disappointing to see Duffy and Arter come on ahead of younger players at the end. Hopefully this will inject some confidence into the Irish side. Let’s see what happens vs Hungary
Desperate desperate stuff for an hour against a team 111 places below us in the rankings. That the team finally pulled their individual and collective heads from their arses is not much to celebrate.
Teams like Andorra are so bad that it's hard to take any positives from games even when you play well, but hey, at least we won, Parrott broke his duck, no injuries.
Well I said I'd be out of excuses for him unless something drastic happened in 2nd half. 4 goals count as drastic.
We always under multiple managers play down to the standard of the opposition and rarely score 4 no matter who its against. Hungary will tell us more, but hes not dead yet!
Great to see Parrott showing that there might be a playing in there yet too
To go back to an old topic, i think James Collins is the worst real player to ever play for Ireland.
Will be happy to never see him in a green jersey again. Curtis wouldnt be too far behind but maybe hes young enough to improve a bit.
Gonna be a punch up in the studio
Good sense of perspective, I noted sadlier say on rte 2 that no one seemed to know where to stand for their goal. That they were all sorta looking at eachother not knowing who should be where , we also had a similar issue on 7 or 8 mins I think when they had a free kick and their player got a free header at the back post. As said we're strongest in defense so why are we so disorganised and porous?
