Breska also won the Youths Division 2 title today. I think that’s their first team at that level since 13/14.
Very good result for broadford today, I’ve seen that Charleville team play before and they are very good at playing ball

Well done to broadford one of the few youth teams in West Limerick with ability and ( a team )
Two more walkovers out of 4 matchs fixed yesterday , clash with hurling matchs apparently. This summer soccer underage will be great fun .
PS Should referees get full payment for walkovers ?
There's life in Ballingarry yet.
Cannot understand why clubs wait until an hour or two before kick-off to inform the league that they are giving a walkover when the fixtures for both codes are known well in advance and clubs could arrange an alternative time or date to play the game.
Granagh were winning 3-2 against Kildimo when it was abandoned after 88 minutes. The website has it down as abandoned with no result.
Am I right in saying that once a game passes a certain amount of minutes and something happens that the result stands?
Thats the second abandonment of the season following AK BReska in Jan. Yes, once over 60 mins (I stand to be corrected, the result may stand) a game should only be blown up early at this point also. As for youths, Breska Carrig kick off was changed to 12pm for hurling AFAIK as st kierans were playing at 4pm. I know the GAA wouldn't care but they should try to arragne set days for soccer and set times for gaa. it will be to the loss of clubs and players from the game.
Story I got was:
It was 2-1 to Granagh and on 87 minutes Kildimo equalized.
From the kick off Granagh went up the field and there was an alleged foul which wasn't given, everyone stopped briefly anticipating a whistle, but seeing as the referre's whistle didn't blow, Granagh played on and scored.
Then hilarity ensured...
Referee Eugene Noonan called the game off, allegedly received quite a bit of abuse from the Kildimo side.
I think it depends what the score was after 60 minutes when a game gets abandoned as far as points go, but I'm very much open to correction on that
Granagh to get the points so? If that’s what happened Cruyff you’d have to feel for Kildimo as they had thought they’d rescued a point but only to have it taken from them by confusion. Still, no excuse to verbally abuse the ref? They are more or less gone now, would take a lot for them to stay up!
KB have conceded 24 goals in their last 5 games (two 7:0 thrashing’s). The amalgamation doesn’t seem to be working too well there, what’s going on?
Another convincing result for Rathkeale this weekend gone. I don’t see anyone taking points off them other than Abbey and even if abbey do I don’t think that’ll be enough!!
Good morning. Any Junior results from the weekend?
[QUOTE=Shearer;1992613]There's life in Ballingarry yet.
Glin must have been very under strength for this beating as they'd normally match them comfortably to say the least
Ballingarry v Broadford. Shauntrade v Ncw. Granagh v Glin. All off today
I'd love to know how ballingarry vs broadford was off but kildimo vs abbeyfeale was played in kildimo. Kildimo with one of the worst pitches in the league
Clubs minding pitches.
Game shouldn’t have gone ahead in Kildimo - pitch won’t be playable for another week or two now if the weather continues, totally wrecked pitch!
Two matches played on Ballingarry pitch Saturday and if they played on it yesterday it would have got destroyed like Kildimos. Right decision calling it off.
Why the league didn’t have a blanket call off with a yellow warning in place is ridiculous. Don’t like giving out about them but especially for cup games when we know on a Friday that pitches won’t be playable it’s just giving up home advantage when there is nothing a club can do!
Glin travelled all the way to Granagh then. Granagh’s pitch is barely playable in the summer not to mind when we have had weather we had in the last week.
I agree with the blanket cancellation call for a Friday esp with cup games but I can also understand the league wanting to have games played. They will not want a repeat of last season with it continuing to mid late June. I do think tho with the league cup that they should bite d bullet and play the games under lights in clonreask. I know this was mentioned at the agm but they shot it down fairly quickly. All clubs pay towards the upkeep so let clubs utilise it
The cup game issue would be sorted if we had one astro in the league. Could have played a game every wednesday since October and we'd be through most cups.
Ya why not? I assume the same old stories would crop up to avoid this but this would ensure teams have adequate games during the winter and avoid congestion in the spring which we are heading towards again.
That was a great result for ballingarry v glin last wk..would like to see a good solid club like bgarry survive.. things must not be going too good in glin again, I heard there was a big fall out with management and players..one thing glin always had was there togetherness, but lately they seem to be pushovers. Another bad result and a win for granagh and bgarry would see them in the mix for the drop with kildimo.. any fixtures on st Patrick's wknd??
No chance of Glin getting relegated. Not happening.
Granagh will be getting 3 pts from Kildimo game
You never know, when your sucked in an team morale is low it's easy happen with a bad run of results..if ballingarry put 5 past glin what will ratkeale beat them by..ratkeale flying it an will win league with the way ther going.
All games are off tomorrow
fine day for games... most pitches playable I would imagine ... Desmond league heading for a late finish as per usual ... some things never change
I knew there'd be 1. I've been a critic of how the league have operated at the best of times, but how can you complain here? Last week there was a weather warning, the city league called off the games early and lads complained that Desmond league didn't follow suit and pitches would get ruined. This week there's a weather warning and games are called off and surprise surprise the Desmond league are wrong for not knowing it would be a nice day.
Sensible callb by ldlf. U will never please everyone..
Agreed, they can't win on that one, in fairness a yellow weather warning is a coin toss, they often overestimate but then last Sunday we got snow all of a sudden and matches get abandoned.
They can only work with the information they have at a given time, and in fairness they took a chance on it last week so they decided to play it safe this week.
Sometimes you'll look good in hindsight and sometimes you won't....
Anyone hear what went on back in Abbey Tuesday night. Broadford vs Abbey in youth game. Supposedly trouble after the game where the ref was spat on and attacked. He rang the guards???
Crazy stuff if true, you never hear of this out here?
Need to be careful what's said here, but let's just say I wouldn't contradict you with the exception of the last bit, there was an in person visit to the local station I'm told...
Going to be serious ramifications for Abbeyfeale if what I'm being told is true
And rightly so, this kind of ****e just isn't acceptable. There have been a number of incidents involving refs this season. FAI need to come down hard on those involved in this cowardly stuff.
Hi all. Does anyone know the league's plan in relation to summer soccer. I know that the schoolboys are starting this year but how do they plan to implement this into senior soccer.
I suppose it'd have to go to a vote first (not trying to be smart with you), which there was rumblings of at last year's AGM.
With regard to actually implementing it, you'd play a short season which the schoolboy league (and the League of Ireland in 2002/03) have done.
I know Mayo play Summer League and I think that it'll be here, and everywhere else, sooner rather than later whether by the league's own decision or by the FAI forcing it across the board.
It was brought up by Ballysteen and was rejected by around 9 votes earlier this season.
Yes it's true, all leagues in the ROI has to play summer soccer by 21, we have being playing SS since 95, best thing we ever did, but leagues management has a duty as well. The ML insisted on proper pitches, dressing rooms and a perimeter fence around all pitches
Dressing rooms? Some teams haven't bought goals since 95, not to mind try to secure dressing rooms.
Rugby will be the big winner at schoolboy level in the coming years . Next week is seeing the first clashes with a lot of midweek soccer games up against GAA . It might be manageable to play 2 sports if the clubs work together but those who play soccer , football and hurling are only going to get injuries and could do long term damage . Not sure where 3 codes are fairly strong , rathkeale , broadford , kildimo , Adare perhaps .
Newcastle should have enough to field soccer only players .
