Looks like Willo Flood is going on loan to Coventry. Like I said before on foot.ie, Stuart Pearse doesn't rate him and his days at City are numbered, when you consider that City have also sold SWP.
More about Willo going on loan here - http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/sp..._coventry.html
Don't think it's that Pearce doesn't rate him, just that Willo needs more experience, and also to build himself up. Croft was in the same situation last season and went out on loan to Oldham. Came back a different player and got into the first team for the last few games of the season.
Isn't that meant to be Owen Garvan of Ipswich (f**k he's been hit with the Brady curse now and will never amount to anything).Quote:

here's an interview with Paddy McCarthy from the leicester 'blue army' site.
Paddy power!
by BILL ANDERSON
Leicester City defender Paddy McCarthy is doing just what he came here for - establishing himself as a first-team regular.
After being on the fringes at Manchester City before his switch here in March, McCarthy believes the tough start to the season so far will do him no harm at all.
The centre-back responded to the physical battering of Stoke's Mamady Sidibe last midweek to resolutely contain Ipswich pair Sam Parkin and Nicky Forster at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday.
And the 22-year-old acknowledges the help from City boss Craig Levein is important this season.
McCarthy said: "I just want to establish myself. I was involved in most of the games last season after I came here and this time I want to play as many as possible. Then I will improve as a player, that is my aim.
"Yes, Sidibe was an awkward opponent. The gaffer talks me through things and it is a good learning curve.
"We looked at the video and pointed out a few things, so the next time I come up against someone like that in this league I will be better prepared.
"A lot of teams in this division have a big centre-forward so it will do me good."
The general idea is that McCarthy will develop alongside Sweden's Nissa Johansson, and losing six goals, albeit two penalties, in the first two games might not have looked too impressive.
Is it working well? McCarthy admits: "I wouldn't say that after the first two games! But we had a clean sheet next time out.
"Nissa is good on the ball, very calm round the defence and has the experience that comes from a lot of games in the Premiership. That is good for the team and, playing alongside him, I am going to learn a lot.
"It is important because we look really good going forward. We are going to improve the longer the season goes on. There are a lot of new faces but we are reasonably pleased so far."
Levein admired McCarthy's defensive qualities, but he must also be pleased that his distribution appears to have improved.
McCarthy said: "The boss thinks I have improved on that side of my game and that is exactly why I am here, to learn and gain more confidence."
Sounds like Anthony Stokes played well against Coventry reserves, albeit from what seems to be his regular right wing position. Graham Barrett scored the winner for Coventry. The French will be quaking in their boots!
Sean Kelly played 45 minsas well, but no sign of Cregg or Connolly. Isn't Shane Treacy, unused sub, Irish? Coventry's Thornton is Irish I think.
Match Report below. It seems Arsenal reserves play Leicester reserves on August 30th, admission free at Barnet FC. Crafty - I assume there could be the likes of Logan & Sheehan in Leicester's team.
I might try & go up to see Stokes for the first time.

yep, sheehan should be on display alright, and possibly logan as well although he did'nt play in leicesters first reserve game this season v pompey.
theres an academy tourmament on near me at the weekend with leicester, spurs chelsea and rangers involved,as leicester and the local doc martens side are away i thought i might go along
does anyone konw of any of our lads at these clubs to look out for? any info would be good. (unlikely to be any at rangers,i know :) ).
There's a highly rated guy called James Simmonds at Chelsea but not sure if he's still in the academy.
He came on for the lasr 20 minutes for the reserves on Monday, played up front with Jarosik:Quote:

Burnley loan move for Bermingham
August 17, 2005
Manchester City ’s Irish striker Karl Bermingham has moved to Coca Cola championship side Burnley on a month’s loan in order to give himself some much needed first team football.
Bermingham has not made a competitive appearance for City since joining them but has made a name for himself with the reserves, scoring frequently for the City second team.
The 19-year-old spent time on-loan with League Two side Lincoln City last season where he made two substitute appearances for the club during his three month stay.
Bermingham is rated very highly by City and manager Stuart Pearce is keen to give the Irishman first team experience this season.
Excellent goal too:Quote:

Haven't seen it mentioned on the board yet, Jon Douglas has gone to Leeds for a season long loan, came on today against Wolves.
It does look like his Blackburn career is over

Willo Flood started for Coventry in their 3-0 win over QPR, the official site report describes him as a "decent player", he was substituted late on, he was also booked.

Karl Bermingham started for Burnley in their 3-1 loss to Watford. Oddly enough he was on the right side of midfield, but still had a decent shot saved.

Ben Burgess scored at the weekend and got good reviews from fans on some of Hulls message boards.
Could be an irish peter crouch?? ;)
Burgess' goal was quite good. He actually carried the ball about 50 yards, albeit uncontested, and tried to place it past the 'keeper but it came back off the post. The rebound fell right to him though and a simple tap in resulted. He was elated aswell.
Supple and garvan played in Ipswich's 2-1 win. Doyle got 30 mins for Reading who are now top I think.
I think it was Flood who put in a lovely cross for Coventry's first goal too, but not sure.
crew v leicester 2 - 2
McCarthy and Maybury both played the 90.Connolly missed out with a slight strain.neither Sheehan or Logan were involved.
i wasnt at this one but the reports dont mention Maybury was particularly good or bad,McCarthy was booked when Varney had outpaced him and he pulled him down,it was his 3rd booking in 4 games so far this season.other than that he hasnt been picked out as especially good or bad either in any reports, although the leicester defence as a whole has come in for some stick as they were 2 down in just over 15 mins.
the lad who came in for Connolly, hammond, whos on loan from fulham,is said to have missed 3 presentable chances to win it for leicester.
A message board I stumbled accross says Jewell has made a bid to Leicester for our own Wavey Davey...
Stephen Ireland started for Man City's reserves and Liam Miller started for Man United's reserves in the Manchester Senior Cup game last night.
It finished 0-0 with United advancing on penalties.
Ireland seemed to be involved in everything good Man City did, whereas Miller seemed to improve as the game went on, before being substituted towards the end of the game

the leicester sites are full of this this morning, some are saying its a done deal and riordan of hibs is as good as a done deal to replace him.these rumours always seem to surface when he hasnt played the prevoius game,as in pre season, when he missed 3 games,it was sunderland he was linked with as he turned McCarthy down last year to join leicester.Quote:

we wait and see, from the irish point of view i suppose another guy in the prem is good news, but i know the fans at leicester desperately want him to stay.
Yeah!! I noted that the Leicester fans spoke very highly of him
Partridge, Coughlan and Whelan started tonight for Wednesday. Coughlan went off with a serious injury late in the match. Partridge and Whelan both played 120 minutes. Partridge scored and played well.
Ronnie O'Brien played for a Major League Select XI against Real Madrid last night, althought football365 referred to him as a US International for some reason??

ARSENAL 2-0 CREWE ALEXANDRA
Under-18s
Friday, August 19, 2005
Arsenal began their assault on the FA Premier Academy League with a 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra on Friday.
A goal either side of the break did the damage for the Gunners. 17-year-old Republic of Ireland youth international Anthony Stokes gave Arsenal the lead on the 15 minute mark.
Last season's under-18 top scorer Niklas Bendtner, then sealed the win with Arsenal's second 15 minutes from the end.
Arsenal: Howard, Rodgers, Murphy, Muamba, Kelly, Steer, Simpson, Randall, Bendtner, Stokes (Efrem).
Stokes was also in the Irish U19 side that got a draw in Bulgaria last night.
Here's something I posted last season:Quote:

byrnie20 has seen him a few times and has compared him to Xabi Alonso.
Not sure this is the place for this, but I don't think it's worthy of its own thread but I thought Liam Miller looked pretty good last night. Nice touches, good passing, always making himself available. Lost it a bit too easily once or twice though. Game was over by the time he came on & I got the impression Ferguson only played him because of this.
bury v leicester 0-3
leicester fielded a weakened side but it was still comfortable.Maybury played at left-back and crossed for one of the goals.Connolly was, again, ruled out with an injury but is set to return to the side for luton on saturday.McCarthy started on the bench,he is also having ankle trouble at the moment, bit was called into action after half an hour as the lad in his spot got injured.
Fitzgerald and Barry-Murphy played for bury.
Just to let people know that Ipswich play Preston Live on Sky Sports today at 12:45,Owen Garvan should be starting for Ipswich.

Willo Flood and Micky Doyle (you'd never guess they were Irish ;) ) should both start for Coventry against Soton tonight on SS1.
Flood did quite well from what I saw (second half only). He covers a huge amount of ground and is very tenacious. He certainly doesn't shirk his defensive responsibilities. He had one clear opportunity to create a goal but having beaten his marker for pace he put the ball across the goal but in between 2 forwards. He probably should have done better. Except for one very tired, careless pass to nobody, his passing was very accurate & he looked comfortable in possession.
The crowd got excited when he got the ball and he got good applause when he went off late in the game.
Doyle was less noticable. Did the simple things well & looks to have a very strong left foot.
I missed the game so cheers for that.Quote:

leicester v luton 0-2
McCarthy,Maybury and Connolly all played the 90. neither Logan or Sheehan featured.
this was a stinking game and the entire 11 under performed,Maybury played at leftback.Connolly didnt have any real oppertnities and McCarthy had done no worse than the rest till injury time when he under hit a back pass with a pacy striker on his shoulder and gave the guy a one on one with the keeper, the keeper got a glove on the ball as the player tried to round him and managed to get the striker turned away from goal but Paddy came in with a lunge, brought the guy down 4 a pen which made it 2-0.
this came in deep injury-time so didnt really matter to the result and he wasnt booked.
leicester v hull 1-1
Maybury,McCarthy and Connolly all played the 90. niether Sheehan or Logan made the 16.
Maybury played at leftback and was solid.he was captain in Tiattos abscence.
Connolly was busy and hit the post late on.
McCarthy got a right chasing in the first half as hull hit the post 3 times, but had a much improved 2nd and scored the equaliser from a back post header, his first league goal.he also hit the post with a header before that.he also managed to avoid a booking for the second game running.
interview with Paddy McCarthy about hull game and his first league goal.
Paddy McCarthy was delighted to score his first senior goal to secure Leicester City a hard-earned point at Hull. The defender stole in unmarked at the far post to meet a Richard Stearman cross and bring City level at 1-1.
It set up City for a period of late pressure that could have seen them come away from their first visit to the KC Stadium with all three points.
But McCarthy was happy to notch his first goal and save a point after City endured a difficult first half in which Hull hit the woodwork four times.
"Richard Stearman put a great ball in," said the Irishman. " It was right on the money. There was no way I was going to miss it. It's my first League goal and I am very happy with it."
He added: "I think we were happy with a point in the end. Before the game we would have wanted to win it.
"We feel we have enough quality to win games but overall I think a draw was a fair result."
The 22-year-old said the goal was almost a personal redemption after being sent off on his senior debut against Hull in November 2002.
McCarthy was dismissed while on loan at Boston from Manchester City during Hull's last win at Boothferry Park.
He was also pleased that he did not enter the referee's notebook after already picking up three bookings so far this season.
"Personally, it's nice to put things right with the goal," he said. "I got sent off in my first league game in Hull so it's nice to come back and put it right.
"I also didn't get booked. The gaffer had a word about it so that was pleasing."
McCarthy now joins the Rep-ublic of Ireland Under-21s for a game against France.
But his mind is already on City's next game against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, September 10.
He said: "I can't wait for that game. We are looking forward to putting things right."
Here's the write-up of the Arsenal vs Leicester reserves match I didn't go to.
http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?a...-+Match+Report
Stokes didn't play so maybe just as well I didn't make it. Cregg scored for Arsenal, Matthew Connolly, recently capped Irish U19 international, partnered some guy called Sol Campbell at centre-back, Kelly & Stokes stayed on the bench. Conrad Logan came on as sub for Leicester after their fits keeper was sent off.
Stephen Ireland scored for Man City reserves in a 3-2 win over their Wigan counterparts. It was a fairly easy goal by all accounts, but I reckon this will put him back in the first team picture, Pearce mentioned him more than once as someone who had played into his thoughts in pre-season before he broke his wrist.
