Thats a shock result for Granville or is it, people were saying keep an eye on Caherconlish..1A might be tougher this year than last, plenty of good teams in for promotion. Any match report, usually there is one.
Caherconlish 2-1 Granville
I was in Galway with work lads so no detailed account of proceedings in the Lish. I had minute by minute updates from my favourite Uncle, and from his very biased viewpoint we should have had a point minimum. However the Lish lads I spoke to felt they were worthy winners. What I do know is that we trailed 1-0 at the break, but came back well with a goal from new signing Joe Horan, poking home from a scramble after a corner. After that we were (according to all sources) the better side but gave away a hotly debated penalty which the Lish converted. It stayed that way and our lads were very disappointed with the result. Early early days and a chance to put things right on Sunday away to our neighbours. Better report and hopefully for us, better result to follow that game.
Well done to Caherconlish and best of luck until we meet again lads.
Result: Fairview B 1-2 Croom.
Pike b 5 Shannon hibs 1
Shannon Town 1 Geraldines 3
Dissapointing result for us. Could have been three up at half time and we didn't show up in the second half.
any other results
Mungret 0 Charleville 1
Im a fairview man and was a neutral at the game after finishing work late in shannon - you are deluded.3 up??ye didnt create 1 chance besides the goal ye scored in the 1st half. They started slow but from about the 25th minute they footballed ye off the Park in my opinion.Ye should have been down to 10 as well for the penalty so the scoreline could have ended up worse.
Table and results updated above
ya pike were away tonight, i think all crooms home games are being changed to away games i think they are getting work done on their pitch so they will end up having a lot of home games at the end of the season
balla 6 caherdavin 2, robert sheehan 3 martin wallace 2 and ger cronin for balla
Our striker hit straight at the keeper with a great chance...we swung a corner in that their keeper misjudged and we missed the header at the back post...them and the goal are three good chances...hence we could have been three up...so, no, no delusion on my part.
That said, and I said it already , we didn't perform in the second half.
Your entitled to your view but thats not how i seen it.
How about giving the opposition some credit? The reason ye didn't perform in the second half in my opinion was because they held onto the ball so well and they exposed the weaknesses in your defence. The long game ball ye played was also food and drink to there back four.
Anyways best of luck for the season - fabulous new pitch ye have.
Mungret 0 - 1 Charleville
Decent game i thought with not much between the sides. I thought we shaded it but just didn't take our chances. Charleville keeper pulled off one of the best saves I've seen after about 20 mins. To be fair our keeper never had to make a save but they got the winner about 10-15 mins left from a free kick which we defended terribly. We pushed late on but couldn't make the breakthrough.
Disappointing result for us but credit to Charleville - they try to play ball in fairness to them. Best of luck for the season.
the mighty hibs
Very poor result for Hibs last night, they should be beating the likes of Pike B at home if they have aspirations of winning the league, long way in the season to go yet though...Some other maybe surprising results too with Mungret getting beat by Charliville and Granville getting beat by Carherconlish ...It will be a very intresting season this season, that's for sure
its early days but i think a good start is crucial and i think they will get stronger as the season goes on. Tough one sunday alright but its been a few seasons since 1a was this competitive i think so it will take 2 good teams to go up, besides the 3 that can't of course:)
Some shock results in the first group of games lads....any predictions for Saturday/Sundays matches?? :)
What do you mean by the likes of pike b,they are in division 1A on merit, they have a very strong panel of players and will beat most teams in this division,a good few of their players have played for their a team, likes of sniffer, smackers and Frankie Stewart, and in Eddie lee and Jeffrey mc are probably two of the best players in this division,so your comment is way off the mark, wouldn't be one bit surprised if they won this division or the divisional cup, they definetly won't fear Shannon hibs anyway.
