Yeah it'd be great if teams could choose only to play "weaker opposition" unfortunately it doesn't work that way, this was a competitive fixture in the national competition...
Valuable addition to the subject there old git...

It's pointless even trying to explain simple concepts to most people here, I didn't "defend" a team. The question was asked how they got on, comments were made which were incorrect, I corrected the information and added more facts to the discussion. People either willfully ignored or can't understand the simple facts and made thoughtless statements based on nothing more than selective out-of-context parts of a post.
I have no idea how many players from either team did or did not turn up for the training session and I'll just ignore your Olympic and Rock off topic comment/fishing expedition
Look just read the posts again. Pay attention to who gave their opinions and what those opinions were based on?
Who did I disagree with? Old git queried whether the team you've chosen to play "weaker opposition"? He obviously didn't know it was a competitive game and yet chose to comment. Planners then made a comment based on my reply to old git's already incorrect comment
As for YNWA's comment? well I'd consider that was just trolling...
As for you? Why not deal with my posts directed at you individually? The genius analysis of ambiton post, for example?...
As it happens, I wasn't at the match but I spoke with someone connected to the team who was, and they told me that 16 togged.
Oh and I noticed your disagreement with old git's post about olympic, rock and paddy dunne. Are you the only one allowed to question other poster's opinions?
Morning lads, just spotted this debate and wanted to ask Stanley for clarification on the "Dave" item above. Eoin, I presume this is another "Dave" that exists on this and not me, otherwise you have seriously mis-taken user names and those that hide behind them. Apologies in advance if it's not me that you were directing that rant towards. FYI, I do believe that the special 1 is actually a member of your club.
wow! ''unbeaten in their last two games'' , thats some going its not often you see any team go two games without defeat. rock will be shakin in their boots with oly in that kind of scintillating form:o
of course it would take you to come out with a stat like that . lets look at the bigger picture here. olympic have the 2nd worst defence in the league (and their attack isn't exactly firing in all cylinders either), oly have played 9 lge games and have only won one of them . rock on the other hand are the form team, since they lost to ye in ennis(missing afew player and just had a bad day) they have won their last 5 games in all comps. so it should be a handy win by minimum two goals for rock. olympic for the drop
While it strikes me as rather cocky (or sensitive:confused:) to automatically assume that all uses of the name dave are in reference to you, I have been aware of your alter-ego, devilfish, for some time, so no, it's not a "rant" (if one sentence can be a rant?) directed at you. To be honest, it was a vague reference to "only fools and horses" where trigger always gets rodney's name wrong. A bit too subtle for here methinks...
should you not concentrate on your own game against Bridge Utd.That type of dismissive attitude is why the title holders are sitting mid table. Cost you 2 points against them a few weeks ago.Anything can happen on Sunday in any of the games, how can you talk about "the form" team, there hasn't been a game for weeks.
Some tasty ties and very hard to call results this week, especially with the break. Maybe Talisman can look into his crystal ball and give us some more results, mark his words lads - he can see the future:rolleyes:
So what, big deal if Galway had 4 lads playing LOI or Oscar Traynor, a lot of League Of Ireland clubs are just glorified junior teams anyway, Merview are no world beaters. The way you're talking you'd swear it was on a par with the FA Premier League or La Liga. As far as I'm aware I thought if you signed with(playing with) a LOI club that you were ineligible to play amateur soccer ie. with a junior/youths team??
And how was anyone meant to understand that rubbish piece of humour? Good one Stanley:rolleyes:
So you think that playing fulltime or competing at a higher level does not give lads any advantage over players who are not? Good one studsup:rolleyes:
The only distinction between players is whether they are professional or amateur, these players would be classed as amateur.
Oh, the guy who scored the 4 goals for Galway is called Pat Hoban, he scored 3 goals from 4 appearances for Mervue in LoI Divison 1 last year. Just your average youth player then...
it's beauty is in the eye of the beholder, don't worry about it, I'm sure lots of stuff passes over your head...
Lads can ye leave out the rubbish debate since most of ye seem unable to follow a logical discussion or from what I have seen this morning , read someone's post and understand it before jumping on the "reply to quote " button. It doesn't make for enjoyable reading when every second post is a post explaining your previous post.
Lads , can we try and keep the thread open , there is a long way to go in the season yet.
Agree First.Back to football please.
The Q/F draw is on tonight for the Oscar Traynor cup. Plenty of good teams left. It will be interesting to see who Clare get.
jeez ,a lot of lads on the rags last few days, chiiillll let ye
away to roscommon or sligo for clare. tough one but still gi ves em a great chance for semi's
2 - 0. ok game in very cold conditions
Avenue won this one 5-0. Didn't see that coming
anyone got a full list of results?
avenue have only one more handy game left (olympic)away, then they have played the bottom three twice each, does our man doing the fixtures think that other clubs dont notice this:mad:.looks like they will have to step up a gear next week they are playing a mid table team:D.can somebody from the clare leaugue please highlight this at the next meeting and maybe ask the question (why)
First off i d just like to say that its sad to see some of my old team mates tackles on myself and the rest of our lads, it was more like assault, they should have stuck to playing football which suits them better. good win for us yesterday, but have four injuries from it so takes a bit of gloss off the win. niall white shouldnt be allowed onto a football pitch, very dirty and dangerous player. anyway heres a report for the game. first half we dominated and could have had a couple of more goals to add to the 2 we got! second half they came back into it but then totally lost their dicipline and we scored 3 more. I was told by lifford player last night that mick kennedy stepped down after huge bust up wit players in the dressing room after the game.
I think I have stated before that Mick's behaviour can be over the top sometimes. He seems to lose the run of himself.
I hear Stevie Hickey has signed for Limerick 37. Big loss to rock Rovers.
Kennedy steppin onto the field of play durin the game to blatently elbow/shoulder Gary Flynn while he was runnin down the wing is an absolute disgrace, im sure a lot of people will be glad to see the back of him. who does he think he is anyway. I still think lifford will stay up though, there is two worse teams than them for sure. No surprise Niall White got sent off either, he seems to think he's an untouchable hardman on the pitch. the club are better off without him anyway, he swans in for games now and again while there's no gaa on thinkin he's the man. I could be wrong on this but I think yesterday was only his 2nd game for lifford this season and his other game was against rock rovers - he was sent off in both
any predictions\odds for the weekend?
I am delighted hes gone aswell nobody deserves to be abused like that.just heard that russ, gary flynn and mikey mahoney all going for scans today on the injuries picked up yesterday. ya newmarket, rock, bridge utd and rineanna had great wins yesterday. all are going really strong and if we have any slip ups i m sure these teams will capitalise. tough games at the weekend though. nwmkt/bridge draw, rineanna and avenue for 3pts i think.
The Avenue boys never opened their mouths or put the boot in or pulled any questionable tackles yesterday and of course their sideline was impeccable???? Nor was the referree completely in Avenues pocket- not that they needed that help - they would have come out on top anyway I think yesterday. One side of the story as always. But Davy you are obviously learning something over there, i never heard you string that many words together in all your time with Lifford. And by the way the colour of the Avenue jersey suits you!!
