Rock can not be aloud to pick and chose which fixture to play and if 11 players can be found they must play the First team game. The league must act as all Rock seem to be doing this year is causing 1 problem after another. Did they not give a couple of walk-overs last year?
They gave a few walk overs last season alright. I heard it through the grapevine that there was some G.A.A. match on that players were involved in?? May be true or not i dont know. Youd wonder what excuse they gave the T.S.D.L. though? Only certain teams will get away with this kind of carry-on!
still no excuse. They have only played 6 premier games so far and if some B players have already played in 4 of those games then they have a real problem!
I have to agree with that. If a club can only field 1 team, then it must field a team in the higest division possible.
What is the story with the points in the case of a walkover. It would be unfair on clubs who have already played Rock Rovers and dropped points to them, to see Clonmel Town get three points simply because Rock chose not to play this game, while they did play others.
the deadline for transfers for most leagues is 1st of october not sure if tsdl have this deadline but almost certain its the case in limerick , cork, dublin leagues etc. think its a bit hasty if rock pull themselves out though. i did notice in gaa reports in nationalist that a lot of rock players were playing hurling with carrick davins and swans so if these lads aint giving soccer any commitment it is very frustrating for the club especially with the way the tsdl premier division is run with half the league campaign over by 1st of october. but rocks results have been good this season and even if they gave another 2 walkovers ( 3 i guess being maximum before expullsion) if they have to. they would prob still stay up as id fancy them ahead off oldbridge and borris to stay up. overall for the club they would be better off getting rid of b team keep 1st team going for this season and even if they are relegated could rebuild again in division 1 next year as they done a few seasons ago. with the way alot of posters on this site talk about rock i dont think many would shed a tear if rovers went out of league but i for one would not like to see them go out like this
I would not like to see Rock Rovers go from the league either Balls.. no more than I would like to see any team go, but there has to be a level of consistency and fairness in how they deal with the league and other teams
I will make no bones about it, but I would be annoyed if Clonmel Town got three points for a walkover, while my club went and fulfilled a fixture and only have one point to show for it.
That does sound completely selfish, but it is the nature of the beast, and them fulfilling a B team fixture on the same weekend, makes it worse to be honest
In fairness to the Rock, they did ring Tommy Lewis on the wednesday before the Town game. They knew they would be low on numbers with all the GAA games on that same weekend but held out until the Sunday in the hope that some of the GAA players would have a change of Heart.
Tommy Lewis didnt want to know about it and would not postpone fixture.
Hence Town get the points the Rock a hefty fine and there name tarnished(especially on here)for the rest of the season.
They are not folding. They will fulfill there Munster Junior Cup fixture this weekend with mainly B team players. Both Carrick Swan and Davins have GAA fixtures again this Sunday so numbers will be low again. Its very frustrating for the men in charge.Once GAA is finished the Rock will be fine.
I know GAA is not an excuse but its hard to get players that play only one code in a an average size town like Carrick.
Theres 3 GAA teams and 2 Soccer Clubs both with multiple Adult teams
Rant over.

a lot of teams have gaelic players in their teams and still turn out teams on a sunday, bansha are still envolved in both hurling and football ( playing carrick davins on sunday )and yet can turn up with a team and fulfill their fixture
well said. its amazing for a club that hasnt had success to be so hated by other clubs. saints and town are unpopular because success breeds contempt while rock rovers are unpopular because of the kind of people they are. it would be hard to throw them out over this when they were let away with an assault against peake but if they are, they certainly wont be missed. they add nothing to the league as it is
heard barry ryan is getting a transfer from pike to peakevilla without even playing a game with pike some bloke that chap:rolleyes:
As far as people in South Tipp are concerned he is just acting true to form!! IF TRUE
why what other club has he signed for and not played with? grow up...hes played 10 years with villa at schoolboys, youths junior, lets discuss football
we have discussed this topic to death, hes a good player and a big addition to town if this is true, saints and town sunday week, villa and celtic will be monitoring that one closely!!!
he is a good player but not as good as some people are making him out to be.he is no chalky or breen or tony scully.so lets get off this boring topic..
people seem to have this vendetta against us and town, saying we get all the decisions.that is aload of crap.im sick to the teeth of it,all down the years people have always said it about micheals.its down to jealousy.if it makes you happy to think we have the refs payed off or that we get all the decisions etc etc, well then fine.suit yourself.its nothin to do with us,our gameplan every week and every year is to go out and win and nevermind anyone else.
Exactly this is a dead topic, hes not even in the country ,if he signs for town it will be good business on their behalf, was plenty of clubs trying to get his signature.
The reason why people dont like and bikker about Town and Saints is very simple its jealousy nobody ever likes a successfull team/club. but at the end of the day we all would love our clubs to be as successful as both these clubs. It was the same for peake villa back in the late 90s and early 00s when they dominiated schoolboy and youth football everybody hated them.
lads was just saying its bad form for a player to sign with a club ie pike and without playing a game ask to leave to only reason hes doing this is coz he was not garenteed a game no way would he got on pike with alan barry and moloney there they even have phelan sub with them
word around clonmel is that former kilkenny city manager noel byrne will be taking on the town job, maybe in time for the saint clash. he is sure to have some decent contacts from his loi days. and im sure thats where the news of barry ryan signing for town has come from as they have worked together at a few clubs in the past. a step in the right direction for the club if you ask me. just wondering how long he may have to sign players though?? im unclear on the exact dates of the transfer window
Wednesday,s deadline is an F.A.I set date. All junior leagues playing winter leagues are bound by this rule. The only players that can sign after Wednesday are those that are unregistered by any other club. The next Transfer window starts Dec 1st and ends 31st Jan.
I for one hope he doesn't sign for us!! He's a great goalscorer alright and there is no debating that, but personality wise he leaves a lot to be desired. He was a disgrace against us last season and i no alot of fans feel the same way i do.....please stay away from our club Barry...please!
To be honest i dont know what the players think, but you are right, if they dont mind then it doesnt really matter what the supporters think. I think Noel Byrne would be a good appointment but i kind of feel that if Blossom cant do anything with this group of players then Noel wont improve the situation that much. At the end of the day, i dont blame the manager too much, i have to be honest and say that this particular group of players just arent good enough really.:(
its the same as fans posting last week that dwayne burns should not be allowed play with the club, its junior football and people need to realise that, hes a top player and town have made a shrewd signing, all players care about is winning and if he helps in that respect they will be happy, more importantly who else will noel byrne bring in,watch this space i would think
im agreed with ron i think noel byrne is an excellent appointment for town, his track record with villa at all ages was excellent and his teams play good football, the saints game sunday should show us where both teams are at
