Hang on NY Hoop. How is the above comment from me unfair, and why do I know it ?

Bar the Ireland-tickets initiative, what has the NLSA done/achieved over the last year ? As a fan and as someone involved in the NLSA's conception (which shows I don't have any axe to grind against the body) I have every right to query its progress to-date. How can that be unfair ?? :confused: This isn't communist China, you know....

And what the fcuk has what I wrote got to do with Derry City ? I couldn't have been any clearer that referees are a league-wide problem that needs a league-wide response. Stop seeing ghosts where they don't exist.... :rolleyes:

Why would a fans' representative body comment on an issue that clearly has the fans divided? Who exactly would they be representing there?

Go and have a look at the league cup semi against Shels and see if he ever started giving us favourable decisions!

Got that wrong, "if he is biased towards bohs by giving them rediculous decisions". And also i have looked at the sending off again and if the ref sent him off for reckless tackle, then thats even worse refereeing (Scully mentioned the ref prob sent him off for reckless tackle). My argument is not because he sent 3 derry players off he is biased towards shels (i still dont think they were reds) but my argument is that if he sends 3 city players off and just happens to miss somethin he was 3 yards away from and continually gives the opposition rediculous decisions, some of which shud have gone the other way, then i only think he is being biased. You obviously wont agree but most derry fans think that there should be a neutral ref from a different county to the teams involved officiate the game. Lets put it this way, if a ref from derry continued to give derry dodgy decisions against dublin teams, wot are u liable to think, crap refereeing or biased???

So you think that wasnt a reckless tackle :confused: Look at it again, Jayo is lucky his ankle wasnt broken - if the shels keeper comitted the same tackle you would want him to be sent off.
Nobody denies that derry have gotten crap decisions(what team hasnt ?) but the same referees that Derry complain about have also given them decisions in their favour does this count as pro derry bias ?

So you're telling me that Eicom League fans are divided on the quality of referees in this country - some presumbaly thinking they're good, some thinking they're bad...?? :eek: :o

There is complete and utter unity amongst Eircom league fans that the standard of refeering in the league is woeful and needs addressing, and that viewpoint has been consistent for some time. That's what needs to be communicated by any body that wants/expects to represent the fans.....

Again I'll ask the question - if the NLSA doesn't exist to represent the fans on issues like this, what is its purpose...?

After watching it again i do agree it was a sending off. I only seen it the once before that and thought it wasnt then. I have also changed my mind on the Brennan sendin off, it was reckless. But David Forde's was never a sending off. As he came out he went in with his feet the ball came up off his ankle and hit is arm. It was unfortunate but wasnt a sending off. Wot galls most Derry fans is the decisions during games that are given against us. I just hope it is a spell of bad fortune but the more it goes on the more it will strengthen my argument.

At the game I thought he was sent off for preventing a goal scoring oppourtunity which I thought was a harsh decision and I said as much to the lads I was at the game with, but after seeing the replay yesterday for the first time and again a few times today Im certain that the ref was right to send him off for dangerous play.

I wasnt able to make it to the cup final in the Brandywell and I havent seen highlights of the game so I cant comment on the sendings off up there.
Football fans are usually galled by the decisions given against our teams indeed there were a couple of decisions that should have gone Shels way in Tolka last Friday but they didnt. We dont scream bias on the referees part because we believe that it is incompetence , thats the nature of the game but we dont all start accusing the referees of bias :ball:

Following Paul Sweeney's Indo article on Sunday, there's another article questioning the quality of Eircom league refs by Emmet Malone in the Irish Times today....

NY Hoop - the next NLSA meeting is 18th October. If a decision is made then to say something publically about refs, chances are it wouldn't be sorted and make Delaney/the papers until w/c 23rd October at earliest. That's a month away. Meanwhile, there is momentum in the press on this issue that may well have totally died down in a month's time. 'Strike while the iron is hot' and all that...

In the days of modern technology and instant communication, why does the NLSA need to wait 4 weeks to gather a handful of people physically togetehr in one room in one town in order to be able to discuss, let alone decide, whethr to do something about an issue that has been a major bug-bear of domestic Irish football fans for years ? We all criticise the Irish media for the little attention they give the league, but here we the fans ourselves are trailing weeks in their wake on such an issue.

As a matter of interest, how many Non Dublin referee's are there in the league

Alan Kelly and Anthony Buttimer are the only two I can think of.

the refs in this league are bad however it is fair to say that soem are really good...kelly is one example. Clearly Dublin refs are biased(Minority cases but especially stokes) This has been going on for years but it is only now many peoples perceptions have changed because the decsions against Derry are costing them dearly, lik the previous match against Shels.

Derry is not even appreciated in the lague evident by RTE not broadcasting any of their europen adventure whcih they performed herociaclly however Shels and Cork was...if either of these teams performed as well as Derry and reached the first round proper I could assure you it would have been televised.

Many people do not realise the poor refering against Derry and im sure Stephen Kenny would have prviously dismissed it now but since he is experiencing this on a weekly basis he agrees. As im sure many of Dublin team fans would also. Hence his cooments aginst the officials after the shelbourne game
