Alan Judge’s lengthy recovery from a significant lower limb fracture injury is continuing and he is now seven-weeks post-surgery from what we hope will be the final surgical procedure that he will have to undergo. Alan is off his crutches, walking well and his review with the consultant last week placed him at exactly the expected point for this stage.
Alan now has a busy few weeks as he returns to Ireland in order to get married and, following his honeymoon, he will return to the Training Ground at the end of June where we hope to see further evidence of improved healing. Alan will then spend a block of reconditioning time in Philadelphia in July, working with Bill Knowles, the conditioning coach that we have worked successfully with in the past with other players. Following that, we hope Alan will be in a position to recommence his outdoor work and a graduated return to the squad.

He broke his leg eighteen months ago. Seems to be an exceptionally long recovery in this day and age. Suppose he's had a couple of setbacks.

I like Jack Byrne and think he has a future in the Irish midfield. I also like the other two lads (Judge and Carey). There is plenty of skill to go around among the three of them and hopefully they will all get their opportunities to impress in the coming year.Quote:

That is the big fear isn't it. The question which must be asked of MON if he stays in the job, is - is he going to adopt a totally different approach to the game (ie play the ball on the floor and bring in four or five lads, with the above three included, to make that work).Quote:

Alan Judge first came on the radar of foot.ie 8 years ago http://foot.ie/threads/117593-Alan-Judge (both threads started by youngirish by the way) and still only has one cap. Shame as whenever I saw him play, usually for Brentford in the Championship, I thought he was excellent. Alas it looks like he might (assuming he recovers from his injury) be a late blossomer as regards caps like Wes H.
Too old at 29. Closer to death than birth. I'm now banking on Liam Kelly to fill that gaping hole we've had for a top level creative midfield maestro since Brady retired. Let's come back in 8 years to see how he gets on.Quote:
