Hard to tell which way the League will go this season. Apart from Pats, no team has stood out. Shamrock Rovers look awful and Bohs are no great shakes so far either.
Dundalk playing very well it has to be said. I thought they looked decent from the highlights id seen but this is very assured. Or are Shams that bad?
Rovers are woeful, a patch on last seasons squad.
Dundalk are getting the balls down and playing some nice neat football, well deserving of the lead.
Also, games in daylight are just crap for atmosphere.
Bayly should have been sent off as well. Yellow card for trying to headbutt Dundalk player. Only thing kept him on the pitch was that the dundalk player didn't make a meal of it.
Rovers are rubbish. Long balls to Murray (now playing up front) only way they can even remotely look like scoring. Dundalk playing nice football & scored two nice goals.
Rovers going down :p
Games on a sunday are a terrible idea in general. Nobody is interested. People would much rather go on a Friday night. Going on a Sunday afternoon is far more time-consuming and seems like a real put off. Just look at the crowd today, fairly poor. The Louth Derby only had 2,500 at it when usually well over 3,000 would have turned up if it was on a Friday.
Very well done to Stephen Maher for not falling to the ground with both hands to the face after being head-butted. Rovers need to sort that guy out...
Dayos love letter to Rovers/ open broad cast of his application for MON`s job in his commentary on today`s game was hilarious`. At one point after the Rovers player had head butted his Dundalk opponent, Dayo pipes up with a misty eyed ..." theres a shamrock Rovers way of losing games ...in a dignified way ..." (as he wipes away tear with green and white flag) or words to that effect. Even my Mrs, who hates football , laughed away at that one.
2-0 wasnt a fair reflection of the game they should have won by more. Mannus and Bayly both should have gotten red cards. Dundalk played all the football and were well worth the win.
headbutt
Fair play lads - thought we looked fairly comfortable, pleased to see us passing the ball around on the deck so nicely, a big change on the rubbish regime from last year, Rovers looked weaker than I expected up front w.o Twigg and Baker, but its early days, you can only improve on that.
Our first lge win over you since 1997 (incl FD of 2006) a very long wait indeed, so we`ll enjoy this.
Sean Connor couldn't win a game against a Dublin side all season last year and Foster does it in his first attempt, away from home. Something very wrong there!
Interesting to see both Chris Turner and Thomas Stewart at the game today.
