Why? I'd be interested to see what his performances were like in the run up to him receiving the captaincy as I don't think anything changed. He has failed to do the business on a number of ocassions for Ireland. Being captain didn't encourage him to miss that chance against Lehmann for example, but by the same token if he had scored and we won the came then possibly the same clamour to remove his captaincy would not exist.
IMO he does a good job as captain for Spurs, and whilst I would prefer to see Dunne as our next captain, Robbie wouldn't be a bad option either.
