Cant see the AUL contributing kid. The games will be played either in December or April they don't care.
Reach an agreement how?? There's only suggestions but no ideas with substance on this.
Smacks of lads who have no idea how clubs work but have plenty of "ideas".
Theorys great but does not always work.
I'd love to see a Cork aul complex but I can't see it happening I don't think the resources are their to fund it . For example let's take Dublin their aul complex played up their etc fine pitches Astros and club house bar etc a real credit to the Dublin Aul. But they needed to be bailed out as couldn't run it ( stand to be corrected on this ) and that's Dublin with a population of nearly 5 times of Cork . You'd probably be looking at an investment in region of 2.5mlion to 3 million for a complex in Cork where would that money come from ?? fAi ?? They are under financial strain themselves the Government ??? Don't think so maybe the local council ??? Aul might get land possible but still have to develope it so still require Large sums of money. Maybe the Aul could finance it themselves through a loan so say they need 1.5 million to do a proper job astro club house sand based pitches car parking lights etc so let's say they need 1.5 million they might be lucky and get 500000 in funding that leaves 1 million to get from banks which charge interest and max term for something like this would be 15 years ( involved with club so I know how banks work with clubs etc they look at them as business loans with carry max term 15 years ) so now we have a wonderful state of the art complex say 3 full size sand based pitches and a full size astro with lights and of course a club house . That 1million has to be paid back you would be looking at payments monthly of 8000 euros . Where would that come from every month for 15 years that's a lot of money . Would any organisation but themselves under that much pressure ?? Would any business put themselves under that pressure ( figures are rough so if your going to attack me over the figures please provide correct figures to do all that work and repayment figures too I'm pretty close with them but always one smart Alex out there )
That's good maths there old legs
My point isn't in regards to maths its in regards to logic and common sense . We can all dream and wish for things etc but when you sit down and really think about what you need to achieve them dreams that's when common sense comes in .
I suppose I was dreaming too when I hoped the AUL would do something about the game fixtures from November to February or the lack there of I should say.
Well considering we have the same debate every year here on foot.ie !! And nothing been done Id say so ask yourself how would you change it ? Does speaking about it here help ? Would it be not better if you ran for the aul commitee or even brought a motion to discuss this issue at the agm ?
Great post Dexter. I think you're spot on there!!!
Read my post I never said not to complain ! All I said is does complaining here make a differance ? If ye both feel
so strongly on the issue why not bring it to the aul attention through your club secretary etc and get it out on the agenda for the agm . And you have contradicted yourself a few times in your last few posts . 1 minute your saying easy to get 20 games played ever week and next saying your not asking for it every week what is it that you actually want . Lads we can talk about it all you want on here I give my opinion and you can give yours . I back my opinions up with facts you just give out . So keep dreaming and talking because ye will change the world that way ..
And Dexter I do a lot more for my Club then you have for yours . And in regards to the aul I bring things to my club secretary who then brings to aul .
I don't go any meetings and I don't know it all I'll bow to you now and let you fix it all good night and thanks ps while your at it will you ask the aul to fix the weather !!! As you seem to imply that they are responsibly for it and also global warming as well .
Have to love people saying with 5 astros you could get a rake of aul games played when 4 are owned by msl teams who have on average about 10 teams each themselves 5 of which would be playing at home with the same weather issues as aul teams
My thoughts are we live in Ireland and playing this game long enough , this is the way it is games get called off during the winter , there is no way I would allow my team to play on an all weather in a league game , throwing away any sort of advantage playing at home gives , we played Glenvale In mjc last sat , on the all weather and it almost cost us. Could have been knocked out , so I think 3 games a week for the teams that challenge for honours at end of the season is the only way and it has being since I was 16 which is a long time ago . Just my opinion .
Totally agree with striker09 and no doubt a lot of other gaffers on here , no 1 will give away home advantage just to get a game in on astro !! No team likes to travel so I can't imagine Carrig, innishvilla , springers, macroom, park just mentioning a few clubs outside the city giving up that trump card of clubs travelling down to them on a Sunday morning or even a Saturday !! At the end of the day ever club wants to win silverware so they,ll do what ever suits them , and not for u the individual or supporter !! Small victories as they say !!
Any friendly match's organized over the Christmas lads?
