so can anybody stop clonmel town?? went to the town-saints game and it was over in 20 minutes, have never even heard of the youth player who scored both goals for town, saints were as bad as i have ever seen them and i dont say that lightly,it was awful, wasnt even a bite in the game
i was at the town and michaels game town to strong all over the field saints never looked like scoring town will take sum beating in all compititions very fit and physical id fancy tralee to beat saints in fai sunday
peake villa wont concede many goals dere not a great side just wel organised wil be notin between them and star especially in the island field
villa are a pretty limited outfit. lacking quality right thru the spine of the team, altho leahy is a very good marker at the back. the 2 ryans are their best chance of a goal. ive seen them play against saints and town this year. they like to play football but any high ball in or around the box causes them big trouble. question marks over their keeper. as a supporter of tsdl i hope that villa can progress but they are not contenders. what kind of side have ye got?
their three best players are all attackers, Michael Ryan, Paraic Fogarty and Ted O'Connor. However the latter two are injured/ cup tied or something because I've not heard mention of them in months.
That said they are a pretty decent team with a good cup tradition and won't be easy
have seen villa play against saints, clonmel and clodagh in the fai game and they are a mixed bag,o connor hasnt played since his suspension for red card in tipp town and a reliable source told me in cashel a couple of weeks ago that o connor wouldnt be too friendly with the villa manager and most of the squad would burn the same guy,not a good sign in any club and probably explains the absence, fogarty played with saints but is now back with villa but is cup tied, would agree with ron leahy is excellent,a bit on the small side but a very good player and the 2 ryans are the goal threat, they had an excellent central midfielder in recent seasons but im told hes in austrailia,i dont know anything about star united but would expect villa to come through this one
dont be modest alan why not tell them how good ye are and then go on about how many ye will be missing when it comes to play em
isit my imagination or does it seem that there is always a problem in the peake dressing room? every year we have stories of bust ups and revolts against managers, and now again it seems o connor doesnt get along with the rest of them. is it any wonder that they havent challenged for anything in years. i remember maybe 8 or 9 years ago their youths teams used to come down and walk all over ours. where have all these guys gone? im not one to talk as enough goes on in my club as any but at least we have titles and cups to look back on. peake is a wasted club and these players careers are passing them by either due to poor leadership or the fact that they are all head the balls  ps.........saints to beat town at the weekend
just on the youths players you mentioned, the majority to my knowledge were not from thurles and have all gone or stopped playing.
players like david horan, donal duggan, ted o connor, padraig fogarty were from thurles added to that ken ryan, martin darmody and james scott who are from two mile borris. I have to agree that if that team had stayed together they would have challenged for an awful lot. but unfortunately you can say that about most clubs. clonmel celtic have had youth players such as ian barnes, adam mcsherry, wack o donnell. Add those players to what is at the club now and that would be a very decent team but the bigger clubs have and always will take players. Even dwayne burns was with the clonmel celtic youth team that won the munster youths cup!
St. Michael's 1 -0 Clonmel Town
Paul Breen with the goal. League is still CTFC's to lose but this is a good win for Saints and they could challenge in the MJC if they get a few home ties.
im pretty sure he meant fai and were in last 32 and nobody will want to play us,im not saying were all of a sudden a brilliant side all of a sudden but sunday was hugely impressive and if the truth be told 3-0 would have been a much fairer reflection of saints dominance, town still in the driving seat in the league but a draw or two along the way would blow it wide open
Hold on 3-0!!!, thats not correct. Michael's weren't that much on top. I don't remember Richie Ryan having to make a save. What about Derek Breen's save from David McGrath.
A draw would have been a fair result. In saying that Saints were much better than they were in Clonmel 2 weeks ago. Great goal from Paul Breen. Well done saints but don't talk ****e and say they were three goals better when they weren't
please tell me you werent at the game?? chester missed an open goal and we failed to hit the target in and around the box several times??? i openly criticised our performance right here on foot 2 weeks ago and said town were far superior, you need to be objective and not a single person could call a draw sunday a fair outcome,no chance, would be very interested to hear any other opinions from anyone else who was at the game???
Dony know where your getting the idea that a draw would have been a fair result if anything it should have been a bigger wining margin for Saints. Town didnt get a sniff for the first 30 mins and had to go man for man. Saints performance was about 10 times better than it was 2 weeks ago(WOULDNT BE HARD) they changed their system to and worked on their strengths and had Baggsy and Shane Mc back. Davy Ryan had a outstanding game in the middle of the park he was majestic.
You need to call he game as you see it not with TUNNEL VISION! Saints Christmas party was on Sunday night so that result got the party off to a tremendous start. Hopefully Saints can kick on from this and get a decent run in the FAI.
Happy Christmas to all HO HA HO!:D
Apologies. Yes I did mean the FAIJC and not the MJC.
3-0 would have flattered Saints IMO but they did deserve all 3 points. 1-nill about right. CTFC failed to mount any credibile response after going one down which was dissapointing considering they have hit some good form of late.
Happy Christmas all!!!
merry christmas to everyone and may santa bring a striker to either town or saints so the league will have a munster or national champion
with saints defence being so strong if only they could get hold of a goalscorer i think they would have a serious crack at this years fai,im not saying their the best team in it but its cup football anything can happen
would agree with that 100%,alan barry would not be in my top 5 strikers in tipp
in terms of hitting 20+ every season
aoron moroney
paul kennedy
whack o donnell
barry ryan
alan coady
I see clonmel town bounced back with a huge victory!! was anyone at one, was clonmel brilliant or ballicollig very poor??who scored?
Rock went 2-0 up after 20 mins.Town pulled 2 goals back within five minutes of the start of the second half. Both goals had more than there share of luck to say the least.Town pilled on the pressure but the rock hit them on the break with 20 mins to go to win 3-2.Rock played very well and deserved what they got.Town were very ordinary going forward.
Very ordinary going forward in the league maybe but they scored 6 against ballincolling in the FAIJC yesterday
