1,625 at Galway v Rovers according to www.extratime.ie
Ramblers v City - radio estimate of 4000+ (seems to be pretty much full house)
Check out the crowd scenes on the clip below for the second goal as the camera pans (from 52 seconds to 110 seconds in). Rovers support was circa 500.

United support has dropped big time in just two games. Does not hold well for the rest of the season. Don't know if it was the Saturday night, the rain or what. If Shamrock Rovers game cannot attract the crowds, what chance have UCD or Bray getting people through the turnstiles?
1,625 is still higher than the average home attendance of five Premier Division clubs last season (as per foot.ie).
Shamrock Rovers did not sell all of their 400 allocation. I would estimate 300-350 Rovers fans present (I was stewarding close by), great support.
A 1,000 average (for example) would be less than 50% of the 2007 average, so even with price increases, gate receipts would be down significantly.
This would present difficulties for any club.
Increase to E20 is a stupid decision by Galway United especially no improvement on the pitch to match.
My choice of the word produced was poor I'll give you. I realise UCD don't teach these kids the basics but they play an important transition role in Irish football. The last couple of seasons from UCD, the football has been excellent. Anyone who questions their place in the league forgets that they belong their on merit, they have a quality talent pool and the football they play is far better than some of the bigger clubs. It's a pity there aren't more clubs in the UCD mold. Obviously it would be better if they had a larger fan base but what can you do?
I must protest. We play drivel; ten men behind the ball, hoof it clear and maybe hack the Cork player. We're an affront to the rest of the fine footballing teams in the league.
Sorry...slipped into foot.ie illogical rant mode there for a sec... Damn your reverse psychology.
Obviously it would be better indeed, but it's a slight bit of encouragement that both our games in the Bowl so far have had the biggest crowds for the respective league games (Derry and Sligo) since we've been getting proper attendances (last four years or so).Quote:

No attendance from the Bohs - Harps game yet?
Don't recall anyone saying that. And actually no it's not more official than that, it's the same thing because it's still just one person saying how many's there without anything to back it up.
Anyway, it's irrelevant now that ye have a counter on the turnstiles.
Um, counting, sad and all as it is (wasn't me! :)) is far more accurate than some of the random estimates we have here.
As far as I know there are only a few clubs releasing official attendances this year (us included). Would have thought that more clubs would have done this in year 2 of the new regime. Wonder why they dont? Anyone any (non libelous) ideas?
CPOs working too hard to be on the internet that regularly?
In fairness, we're up to half the clubs in the league now, so it's not as bad as "only a few". But most of the Premier don't bother, which is strange alright.

Shut up you TART!
Its Sunday evening. Even I'm allowed a day off. Git.
Want to keep the 8-year-old daughter away from the internet when you're logged in. ;)
525 it said on the UCD website for the Rovers game
I seem to recall seeing some story about how Galway were increasing their planned expenditure this season. If I remember right, there were quotes from Leeson too, so it wasn't mere rumour. It's early days to be panicking over attendances, but they might struggle with the wage cap if income is under budget.
It's a bigger stand than you think. Everyone's in the middle two sections too 'cos the ones at either end are uncovered. Just watched it there and the first thing you see is an empty quarter of a stand.
Update after week four. Clubs who give official figures are in bold.

Recent games missing -
St Pat's v Galway
Monaghan v Shels
I see Cobh's average has gone from 900 to 2,450 in a week!!
Actually I'd like to see them do well and hopefully a few of the locals will have gotten the buzz back after Saturdays' game and will continue to come out and support them.
All Sligo's attendances are on that basis, for example, with differences of up to 1000 for games.
You may as well ignore all posts on this thread so. And indeed, all official figures too. Sure there's only one club saying that without anything to back it up.Quote:
